Oh, I love this topic. As a hypnotherapist, I'm always looking at the mind and how it works, and specifically in relationship to how we relate to ourselves. And I would say the gold standard of hypnotherapy, the great treasure chest in the center of it all, is building self love, recovering our original self connection. And that is pretty cool. You know, in my practice, when I help a client release all the inner conflict and let go of stress and strain that they've carried for such a long time, and they naturally start to take better care of themselves. That's awesome. But we also have a nice workaround here that doesn't require so much of that inner excavation. Because by going into relaxation, we are slowing down your brain. You see, your normal waking brain is cycling at what we call a beta wave. And that's anywhere between 12 and 30 hertz or 12 and 30 cycles per second. And that's pretty fast. But as we relax, the brain slows down and it cycles at slower rates. And first it achieves what we call an alpha wave, which is 8 to 12 cycles per second. So a slower mellower wave. And in an alpha state, when the mind slows down, we're naturally much more self protective and self loving and we sort of automatically do kind and caring things for ourselves. For instance, if you meditate, and I mean really do sitting meditation for say 15 or 20 minutes, you don't get

of it and binge on a box of donuts or blast angry music into your head. You're naturally softer and gentler and kinder. That's the alpha wave, sending out its groovy vibe into you and your environment. And as an added bonus, when the brain slows down, it also becomes more receptive to new ideas. So when you're relaxed like we will be tonight, you can receive really positive, self loving suggestions setting yourself up for kinder, more loving behavior in the future.

So we don't necessarily have to hash

out everything in therapy or hypnotherapy. I mean, sure, over the long haul, it's good to look at any issues we may have picked up from the past so we can work them out. But on a daily basis, we just need to slow down in order to be nicer to ourselves.
