Hi everybody. Welcome to the Magic Mailbag. We have a special episode today where I'm speaking to Marie diamond, who is a Feng shui master. Thank you so much for being here, Marie.
Marie Diamond
I am so excited to be here.
Co-Host
Well, it's a great pleasure to speak with you. And before we get into it, I just want to explain to my listeners why we might be talking about feng shui today. First of all, personally, I read my first feng shui book in like the mid-90s and it was very simple and it kept it Very simple. But I apply these ideas to every room or office or home that I had the opportunity to design or set up. And every time I would feel better in the space, people would comment on it. And I'm a naturally messy person. Like, it's not like me to have a great space. But once I learned that a space is sort of a reflection of my energy, et cetera, it was very powerful. And secondarily, at Sleep Magic, we're doing hypnosis, basically self hypnosis every night. And I talk to my listeners about when we relax, we go into the subconscious mind or something that I call like the inner mind or the inner being. And that relaxation and the inner being can help create our lives. So it's a naturally healing part of ourselves, a naturally creative part of ourselves. And. And I wanted very much to speak to you about feng shui and how we can support our own inner minds by using our environment. So I'm going to start asking you actual questions now. But I just wanted to get that. To have that overlap.
Marie Diamond
Beautiful introduction. Yes.
Co-Host
Well, thank you. You have written a book called your Home is a Vision Board, which I think is possibly the best title I've ever heard.
Marie Diamond
Thank you.
Co-Host
So tell us what you mean by that. How is my home my vision board?
Marie Diamond
Well, as you were sharing, we are so connected with our inner mind or inner self. We sometimes don't see that what is around us is also subconsciously affecting us. And so a lot of people think about people affecting them or situations affecting them, but they're not always focused on how the environment is subconsciously giving them messages.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
By using certain colors or certain images or just the flow and the energy field of your space. And I think a lot of people are aware of it because they can go to certain area and they're like, oh, I love it there. They don't really know why. And then they go to other areas and they're like, oh, there's a bad vibe. I'm not returning to that space. So they feel it. There's a sensitivity that people have. But what if you become aware that the things you have placed around you, the way you position yourself, that that has been affecting you subconsciously 24 hours a day. Like eight hours as you're sleeping, eight hours as you're working, eight hours in your living area, where you connect with your family, everything is really on a subconscious level, giving you a certain frequency, a certain energy. And feng shui literally means wind and water. And it means it's the flow of energy, but it's all about vitality. And when we are in a beautiful energy, we feel balanced, we feel peaceful, we feel calm. And it's just like think about if you have water, you would probably not stay a long time under a waterfall, right. It's too intense. But if you would sit like next to a river that is kind of, you know, kind nicely having that water frequency and there's like not a big wind, like tornado, but a nice breeze, right? Then you like so relaxed. So that's the kind of energy that we can create in our home by colors, images, the way we address our environment. And then we are creating that balanced state of mind and heart.
Co-Host
I love that. And it really, in my experience, like I said, works. How did you get into this?
Marie Diamond
Well, I would say I start dabbing, dabbling into it after I was 15 years old when I was really started researching some methods to heal because I had an accident that really disturbed my. My life and my youth at that moment. So I was looking into meditation, was also looking into Feng shui. And it's only when I was like after practicing some basic, basic principles, probably much less than you already knew when you are in the mid-90s yourself. In that time, it was just like really, really basic things like decluttering and.
Co-Host
And I'm still working on decluttering.
Marie Diamond
Yeah. Just being aware of things. Right. That I was already teaching meditation at 31, started understanding that a lot of people had a hard time after taking a seminar with me or a class, they would go home and it felt like they were not able to maintain that inner peace. And so when I started understanding that look, you know, the environment, that was really helpful for me all these years. So I started studying in Malaysia under a grandmaster, became myself a certified Feng Shui master. And so from that point on, I started implementing that with my mentoring clients in the companies. I supported them with meditation and changing their energy and mindset. So it became an integral part of it. And now with 30 years further and I have more than 2 million online students in Feng shui, so it has become like my major sharing. Because I felt in people that in the self help that are in spiritual work that are connect with manifestation, law of attraction, they forget sometimes how amazing the environment can be for you or can support you or can perhaps disturb you right. In your inner peace.
Co-Host
Well, you mentioned in your book exactly that that we are all subject to sort of three types of luck, as you call it, Heaven's luck, human luck and earth luck. Can you explain to us what that means?
Marie Diamond
Yeah, so it was one of the first things that my grandmaster shared with me that I was so ah, moment for me because you know, I was very spiritual already as a child, grew up very connected with the divine energy and whatever you call that in your own religion or background. So for me prayer and meditation was part of it. And like that is what he calls a spiritual luck. It's like when we are born, we have a certain destiny, a plan. We have talents that we are born with. Like I'm a great teacher, but I'm not a great singer. So this is not, not part of my original potential. I would say that.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So he said that is called destiny or karma or purpose. And so a lot of people sometimes don't even tap into that. Yeah. They are not even aware that they can really fulfill a purpose in life, having a vision or a mission for their soul to establish. And he said some people think that's 100% but it's only 33.3%. The second part is what do we do with his talents and with that plan that is given to us.
Co-Host
And this is human luck.
Marie Diamond
That's your human luck.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So for example, you have a beautiful voice, but you are only singing in the shower. Right. You're not trying to study about it or getting a vocal coach or just even performing.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
It's just like taking action, believing in yourself. Yeah. So I would say releasing the blockages. Yeah. From hypnosis.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So these are tools that can help you with fulfilling your human potential. Right. Really being that best human being that you can be with the, the right mindset, the right behavior and also taking actions every day.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So that's kind of where your field self help mindset training is about. And some people never focus on that.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
And so. And they're lacking 33.3% of that potential of luck. But he said there's a last part and that is actually the earth luck. That is the luck of your environment. And this is information that has been always shared with, I would say the top people in the world. Like it started in China, the emperor, the empire of family, the, the courts, they would know that information that was passed on already in the 15th 16th century to some of the kings and queen in Europe actually start practicing that. Like the palace of Versailles is very much built on that. Buckingham palace even. Of course they will never share that with us. That they use some of these principles. But I would say the few ones they took these secrets. And so once I started understanding how important environment is, 33.3% is quite a lot.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
And some people are very in tune with it. And they create an environment that is really aligned.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
With their goals and aligned with their purpose. And some people just are totally not making anything of that.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
And. And it's just telling the wrong story. And it's all about aligning.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
Aligning your purpose with your human self and your environment. Once that alignment, that coherence is there, then you actually start feeling better. You're improving, you're more in. In that inner peace experience, but also your manifest easier.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So that is also something that I wanted to share and let people understand. That's the part that today we're going to talk about. Yes.
Co-Host
I love it. I love it. And we have. I mean, I have some more questions, but we have also questions from the listeners. Sure. We get to those as well. I encourage my listeners to relax. I say relaxation is like a secret weapon. That's what we're doing every night at Sleep Magic. But does relaxation help in manifesting?
Marie Diamond
Yes, of course it does. Because if you create an inner space that is without judgment.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
That is without guilt and emotions.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
Because we always say what you focus on is what you will manifest easier.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So if you are in a. In a space of inner chaos or inner turbulence.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
It's very hard to get to that destiny like you want. Right. So inner peace is part of manifestation. And let's say you're. You're flying from one side of the United States to the other side, and it's a smooth ride. You know, you will get there if there's turbulence. But let's be honest, you'll be so disturbed, you don't start your journey very well. It's. It's difficult.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So that inner peace makes things more effortless.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
And that's why when you work, your work and the work I bring, we. Creating that balanced energy and then you manifest easier.
Co-Host
You talk in the book about as you approach your own environment or even before you make any changes, to work on forgiveness.
Marie Diamond
Yeah.
Co-Host
Tell me why forgiveness is important.
Marie Diamond
Well, I have seen myself in my own life. How when I did let go of, you know, things that didn't do well in my life, we sometimes hold on also to past memories, traumas, and. And it's actually creates a toxic vibration. Right. And so I've seen many times before people started their environment, they cannot even declutter, they cannot even change the energy because they're still holding on to their past experiences. So by doing more forgiveness work, they're Already going to a new level of relaxation about the future.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
Because forgiveness is about releasing the past.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So I want them to think about two things, two questions when they go into their space and thinking, is this space who I am?
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
And is this space who I want to be?
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So if they look around them like, oh, I have so much things from my mother, for example, or my parents, but I really didn't have such a great experience with them.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So that energy is still there, you know, literally living in what they have around them. But perhaps you can start by releasing that and forgiving their parents, forgiving themselves for holding on to the pain. And then it'll be easier also to let go of these furnishing or images or paintings that they have or little statues and choose for something they want for the future that aligns with them.
Co-Host
It's interesting because we literally call that stuff baggage. It is like stuff that's sitting on. It might as well be sitting on the floor of your house.
Marie Diamond
Correct.
Co-Host
Heavy, like baggage.
Guest
Yeah.
Co-Host
So I love that. Okay. How long does it take someone to manifest a desire or manifest something they want through feng shui?
Marie Diamond
Well, what we have seen is once people start doing some basic principles on feng shui, especially when it's connected with their personal birthday, because I have a system that is personalized feng shui, I will love to go into that a little bit. But what we have seen that within nine days, people see a shift. I've seen so many times. People say, I changed this, and for the first time in years, my boss was nice to me, or I got a raise or got a friend call with an opportunity. So it just always means that it's money that comes to you.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
Could just be people calling you. It's like you're opening up a window, a portal of manifestation, because you add and align your environment with your goals and what you really want to to manifest in your life. So we have seen that the more personal you become in Feng shui, the faster we creating change. And so if we look at the word change, it has two words in it. Chi, energy, and ange, like angle or angel.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So it actually means a corner. Yeah. You change the qi, you have a different angle, a different corner. So based on a personalized Feng shui, and people will see that in the book, your home is a vision board. There is a free Mary diamond app connected with it where people can then put in their birthday and their birth gender, and it calculates and it's not typical numerology. So it's a more in depth calculation. It gives them four directions that are good for them. And so once they are, for example, decluttering these four good compass directions and mine are like southwest, west, northwest, northeast. For somebody else it can be north, south, east, southeast. I mean, it depends on your birthday.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
And so when you declutter the area, when you then put the right images in this area. And there's one for success and money, one for relationships, health and wisdom. Them.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
And definitely if people really want balance, for example, in a bedroom, they want to sleep well. I always suggest that they first focus on their health direction. Because if you have more like disturbing images or colors that are just not aligned with you, or you have literally chaos in that corner.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
It will influence you. Not immediately, but I'm saying if that's there for weeks and months and years, it really will affect you. So you can mentally always think about how can I align myself again. And so there's a more advanced technique for that that we called personal Feng Shui.
Co-Host
I love what you're saying too about the repetition of things. I have a whole history with food and it's like a slice of pizza is fine, but a slice of pizza every day for a year changes your body, your vibration, your, your mind.
Marie Diamond
Yeah.
Co-Host
And so, you know, quantity affects quality. And I encourage people around sleep, sleep to not get too hung up. If going to a hotel room, they don't sleep that well or if they have a test the next day, they don't sleep that well. But are you set up and doing the things you need to do to sleep well regularly?
Marie Diamond
Totally. I totally agree. Consistency is very important. So for example, if somebody goes to their bedroom and you know, before they go to sleep, it's chaotic because, you know, you didn't clean up things. I mean, one night is fine. Right. You will still sleep well. But if it's like non up, right. You have all this clutter and they kiss chaos around you, it will start affecting your mood.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
It will create subconsciously some stress levels for yourself. Right. Of course, there's times that I sometimes haven't cleaned up either and I go to sleep because I'm tired. Right. But the whole point is it's. Do you do that for days and weeks and months and years? Then of course it affects your inner balance.
Guest
Yeah.
Co-Host
And could also be a reflection of what's going on inside. Like in a way, your home is your vision board, but your home is also a mirror.
Marie Diamond
It is, it's like, it's literally, it's A reflection. Right. So the question is always, what's the chicken? What's the egg?
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
Is it a reflection of you or is the house reflecting back into you?
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So. But I, I believe it's a, a two way street constantly. Right. So it's possible you do feel chaotic and you have a lot of stress and that you, you did not find time because of it to clean up and to organize your home. And then it's part of then distressing you is perhaps cleaning up.
Co-Host
Right.
Guest
Yeah.
Co-Host
Right. So it's got momentum.
Marie Diamond
It's got momentum.
Co-Host
I know I have like Jessica's house on coffee.
Marie Diamond
Okay.
Co-Host
And Jessica's house not on coffee. And they're two completely different.
Marie Diamond
I got that. I don't drink coffee, so it's probably always good.
Co-Host
I really shouldn't. Thank you so much. I want to go to the questions that we have from listeners because they're really interesting. Okay. First from Lizzie. This is about attracting new relationships into your life. She says, lately I've been feeling really lonely. I had a falling out with my friends a few years ago and I was hoping that I'd have better luck making friends at college, but now that I'm here, I've been really struggling to do that. I have plenty of, quote, class friends, those kind of surface relationship friendships, but I crave something deeper. I try to socialize, but I feel like I have trouble making these deeper connections. It's been getting in my head and it makes me worry that I'm an unlikable person or that I'm approaching things the wrong way. I'm wondering if you have any advice on if there's any way I can be more magnetic or ways I can meet people or just any advice if you have is helpful.
Marie Diamond
Okay. Wow. Beautiful. Well, yes, I. I do feel sometimes a lot of people are in that stage, like between parts of their life that they feel quite lone. And, you know, first of all, I would suggest also describe, write down or journal about what are the kind of friends that you really want? Perhaps the friends you had in the past were not the ideal friends for the future. Right. So write this down.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
And then I always suggest to people because as your home is a vision board, what are the images that are around you? I've seen many times that people feel stuck and lonely is that they have a lot of images of single people, people, or like one vase or one elephant or. I don't know, sometimes they're just somehow that loneliness that they have expressed that around them.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So sometimes it's Just to look at that, to see if these images could be different and perhaps even images of your old friends that. Or, you know, your new classmate friends. So, you know, we all take this little selfies or wealthies everywhere with multiple ones, but do we print them out right? So you can do that, or you can, for example, get these beautiful ceramic friendship circles that, like, people hold hands, or with AI, you create a beautiful image of friends laughing and having fun. And then, you know, put it out. Like, put in a beautiful frame and put it on a closet or a cabinet somewhere where you can see it regularly. So you're creating kind of a different program for yourself. And then we also can work with colors, actually. So there are some colors that are just more happier colors, especially if you feel lonely. Think about the summer, right? When we. When it's summertime, we always have more friends. We're going out. So yellow colors, pink, orange colors. They are also representing more gentle fire and warm energy. So put that, like in your. On your living room space, like on your couches, put some of. Or an orange candle, like bring some of these colors in. And it's interesting. These are colors that just for everyone, not just for somebody person, but everyone I've seen over the years, they always feel happier when they see these colors because literally they see the sun energy, it's warm.
Co-Host
And what I feel like this reader or listener is looking for is more warmth.
Marie Diamond
Both correct.
Co-Host
In her life. But I also say to people, like, you got to bring the warmth.
Marie Diamond
Yes.
Co-Host
You know, like, we got to cultivate it in yourself. And this is just me riffing off what you're saying, but, like, what are you wearing? In other words, you maybe have some armor.
Marie Diamond
Some.
Co-Host
Some of these feelings may be reflected in how you present yourself in the world. And we all do that. Like, once you have a negative set of feelings, you tend to behave and feel totally. You know, the momentum gathers.
Marie Diamond
Yeah. It is really looking at your life, you know, and saying, like, what I have done so far is not working. What can I do that makes some shift happening? And it could literally, you know, I always wore special colors and warm colors, and I get always comments on that. And it's like a start of a conversation somehow, right?
Guest
Yeah.
Co-Host
Yes. Great. Okay, next question is from Catherine. I'm wondering, how can feng shui help sleep? And how can you set up your room to have the best quality sleep and stay asleep?
Marie Diamond
Well, one of the things I always suggest to people in a bedroom is to really look for a space where when you come in, you Feel like I'm really relaxed.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So it's like, it's not too busy.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So I've seen sometimes people put a lot of intense colors or intense images up and always say before you go to sleep, that's like the last imprint you have almost in your subconscious mind. So look around it and say, is that a space where I would love to fall asleep?
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
Does that give me that nice, calm and peaceful energy? So in feng shui, we would suggest more colors that are like metal colors that will be white and grays and golds, or more soft earth colors like beiges, tans, browns, pinks, even some yellows. There are considered more a warmer energy for people to fall asleep in.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So. But some people just, you know, they love very intense colors. But then I'm asking if you fall asleep, they're great, if it's not a problem. But if you do feel it is harder for you to fall asleep, perhaps that color has been affecting you and it's just not aligned with you.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
But if you feel that. That what is around you helps you to fall asleep, that's great.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
Another thing I always suggest to people is look at what's on your nightstand.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
Because your nightstand is really close to your body.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So perhaps you have put hair. I've seen everything on nightstands from tax bills to socks.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
And I'm always saying, like, this is, like, very close to your space, to your heart and your head.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So just perhaps a book that inspires you, or a journal or a beautiful picture of your family, or a crystal, like something not too much, but just something that you like. You look at, like, oh, that's the last thing I see that feels calming and peaceful for myself.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So that's something I would definitely suggest. And also, when you go to sleep, you know what is on your headboard?
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
Like, what hangs above it? Right. I had this woman, and her husband loves tigers.
Co-Host
Okay. You know where this is going?
Marie Diamond
Yeah. And so he did hang an image of two tigers above her headboard. Now, she really was afraid of this.
Co-Host
Yeah.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
Now, she never told that to her husband.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
She. She was like, as a child, like, had, like, another great experience in a. In a zoo with tigers. And she probably had not released that.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So she went to sleep. But there was a subconscious fear.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
And she had. She woke up many times at night, and she. One day she asked me, like, mary, I don't know what's going on. I can't. And I said, can you just show me an image of, like, where you sleep. And the tiger said, who did hang that there? And she said, oh, my husband, but he loves them. I said, how about you? She said, oh, I hate them.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So. And then she told the story as a child, and I said, well, or you release that energy. Right. And do some work on it. But perhaps having tigers above your headboard is probably not the most calming experience, perhaps for you.
Listener
Right.
Co-Host
And easily change.
Marie Diamond
And it's easily changed. So they ultimately decided to take that off and to wait a little bit till they found something they both liked. And she immediately started feeling better. She slept longer.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
And then they found something they both loved.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
And now they're sleeping both of them very well. So it's sometimes because some people move into somebody's home.
Co-Host
Home.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
And that home is totally designed, like, for that person, and it's not for the other. So you, when you move in together, find a moment. Colors, look, you know, whatever is around that you both love.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
Especially in the bedroom.
Co-Host
Yeah. You know, a couple of things you're saying are just reminding me of things. First of all, this can take time. And I love that it takes time, because what I discovered through paying attention to feng shui is that my central nervous system, you know, in India, we'd call it the chakras. Like, this energy in me has its own opinions and feelings, and I actually like being in a space and going, how does that feel? And maybe one day it'll feel some like something, and it may be slightly different, but if I expose myself to it again and again, I'll know, like, you know, this doesn't work for me. This doesn't feel good. This feels hard. This feels heavy. And we're so analytical and so logical, and this is so intuitive. So the other thing I want to say is, when you talk about colors, I don't think it was ever taught to me. Me, probably because I didn't spend enough time in science class looking at the light spectrum, but that colors are different frequencies. Like, they literally are different vibrations.
Marie Diamond
They are.
Co-Host
And once you start to feel a color, I always say to people, like, go to an art museum and just stand in front of, like, a Rothko or something. Just feel the color and see what it does to you.
Marie Diamond
Well, you know, you are wearing beautiful greens.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So that is probably something that, for you, resonates.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
I don't like greens at all.
Host
Oh.
Marie Diamond
I mean, I love greens and nature and plants in my home. But myself wearing green, it just when I wear that, I don't feel so great.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So it's very personalized. But even if you're talking about the chakras, the chakras have several colors.
Co-Host
Yeah.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So in that sense, we see that people need to start becoming more aware of the colors that are good for them.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
And sometimes you can just start with even very simple with flowers.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
And you're like, you know what? I'm going to put a bouquet of red tulips out.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
And see how you feel with that. Like, oh, you know what? That doesn't resonate so much with me. But let me put pink flowers, Pink roses out, for example. Like, oh, this works so well here. So just feel how you are in tune with the color.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
Or it could be even a colored candle.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
It doesn't have to cost all that much to start implementing this. Or a pillowcase.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So just start being in tune with that. And it's like, from my husband and me, we are totally different on the spectrum of colors.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So he loves very much reds.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
He's everything he could wear in red. He would wear it.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
Red shoes, red cap, everything you can imagine. I don't like red so much.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So we had to find a way to what we both like. With 35 years together, I think we figured it out in our bedroom and in our house. But there are areas where that he spends more time and I let him be more his thing because it's not really what I like that area. This is not my space.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
In my office, he's like, I can't stand that color you have on the wall because it's peach. And I love peach. But it's like, yeah, but that's my office.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So be in tune with what resonates with you. And also to see if it's not just resonating one moment, but it resonates over a longer amount of time.
Co-Host
Well, what I hear you saying, too, is that feeling good is good. And in fact, it's powerful. Feeling good is what helps us manifest the things that we want. And we live in a world where feeling good is just kind of indulgent. But in sleep magic, I often do hypnosis. That's all about practicing feeling good. And we can do that with our homes.
Marie Diamond
Totally. And I always say it's like when you come into a space and you feel good there, then you probably. Probably don't need to change that much there. Right. Perhaps you want to activate a few things. But if there's a place that you really feel, I. I I don't like the space. There's something off here. Then you probably need to some extra care for it.
Co-Host
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Which can be fun. Y can be fun to improve it. Okay, our next question from Sergio. First off, I wanted to share that's about sleep magic. I feel like I've been on a manifestation journey and without even realizing. And he says in parentheses. Manifesting was always kind of a woo woo idea to me. But the more I learn about it, the more it fits with my situation, which is very reassuring. My question is, how do you toe the line between radical self confidence and delusion? That's such a good question. I want to be fully confident in my ability to achieve my goals and go all in. But I also have a dull, nagging worry that I could overestimate my abilities and put my family into turmoil. What's your advice?
Marie Diamond
Well, you know, I work since the last 20 years in the manifestation world because as one of the teachers in the Secret, we talk a lot, of course, a lot about that. And I always say to people, look, you know, let's say you want a better job, right. So let's say you're an administrative employee and you could start thinking like, I become the CEO of a million, multi billion dollar company. I mean, that's a huge stretch. I'm not saying it's not possible, but there are steps in between.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So stretch yourself always a little bit, but stretch yourself to a level where you feel comfortable. Right. Not like I'm going to, you know, own an island.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So it's just like start going for the next step, have a big dream. The dream can be big, but also be practical and say like, what's my next step that I need to manifest to get there.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So when I started my journey, I had a big vision to reach millions of people and to make their life better and to, to help them to be more conscious and enlighten. Enlightened. But of course I didn't know how to go there. Yeah, I was like, what's my next step?
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So I always looked for like, what can I, how can I stretch myself? I remember the first money I made per month, I was a lawyer at that time was about a thousand dollars in that time.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
Would be now probably much more with inflation. I mean, I didn't immediately think about a million dollars.
Listener
Right, right.
Marie Diamond
So my next step was like, hey, I'm going to manifest to have a job that makes at least double.
Co-Host
Double.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
Or three, four times more.
Listener
Right, right.
Marie Diamond
So something that was possible and that was my next step. And I got all the time, promotion after promotion till I made $10,000 a month.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So of course I was not ready to go to the million dollars, but I still had that vision of impact.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So I never really thought about the millions of dollars I would make, but I was thinking about the millions of dollars, the millions of people I would reach.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So because that it comes not from an ego perspective, but comes from a heart perspective.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So I mean, I live an amazing life in what I do, but I'm always still thinking, you know, every day I'm connecting with all the people that one day I'm going to connect and meet and make their life better.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
I never really think in the money experience.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
But still you can dream about the kind of life I was dreaming. I had a vision board dreaming about that I would live and visit California one day. I would live in la, I would live in London, the south of France. I mean, I have all manifested that, but at that time that was a long way.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
But I would not put my family in jeopardy for that.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
But I would share my dream with my husband and with my children. Like, you know, this is the dreams I have and they be open to the dreams, but make sure the steps, the practical steps or more stretching yourself each time a little bit further so it becomes a journey instead of I need to have it now. Yeah.
Co-Host
I think also I know for me, I use all these words like expansion or manifestation, which are apt and interesting words and they are make sense. But it came to me one day that really what we're just talking about here is growth. That we're meant to continue to grow.
Marie Diamond
Yeah.
Co-Host
And we're meant to continue to do new interesting things like a plant spirals into the world and.
Marie Diamond
Correct. Evolve.
Co-Host
Yes, evolve.
Marie Diamond
Evolve.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
We're here. I do believe every soul has come to this planet to evolve, to be a better human being being, to use their talents in the best way possible to create the best results for themselves, their family. Ultimately, we all just want happiness.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
And so how can we evolve to feel more happier, to create more happiness for our family and for the world? That is evolution.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So you're totally right on that.
Co-Host
And it's incremental. So in other words, the delusion, you'll know that you're deluded when it's a house of cards that falls down.
Marie Diamond
Correct.
Co-Host
But if you are actually growing into it, it. Yeah, it should be stable.
Marie Diamond
And that's why you almost like growing into the dream.
Co-Host
Right.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So it's not that you cannot stop dreaming, of course. Dreaming is so important and imagining is so important, as, you know, with hypnosis. I. I think that's totally your work. But at the same time, it's also growing into it.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
I. At 15, I was not ready to do what I'm doing now at 60. Right. So I had to grow into it.
Co-Host
Right. And it's a delicious journey. Learning next is from Jess. Not me, someone else. You say your home is a vision board in your book, but I collect Wallace and Grommet memorabilia and Jelly Cat cuddly toys.
Marie Diamond
Oh, beautiful.
Co-Host
So these are little fuzzy things. What does that mean for me? Can you still fill your home with stuff you like, aesthetically like, is that okay to just have stuff you like?
Marie Diamond
It totally is. So I remember I was recently at somebody home, and they're very much into Minnie and Mickey Mouse.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So everything around them is Minnie and Mickey Mouse. Amazing.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
I loved it.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
It makes them happy.
Co-Host
Yeah.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
That's the first thing you feel good in this space right now. Sometimes you have to go a little bit deeper into what it represents.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So, for example, they had beautiful statues of Minnie and Mickey Mouse together, holding hands. And, you know, I said, well, this is a great thing to put in your bedroom, in a sense. Right. Because it's about romance.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
Right. They had, like, an image of goofy kind of falling on his back and, like, being too goofy. I would not put that in an office.
Co-Host
Right.
Marie Diamond
Like, so think about that. Like, what does that represents for you?
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
But if you feel good with that, like, my. My son, he collects a lot of things around Spider Man.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
He loves Spider Man.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
It inspires him. Him. I'm like, great. Why would I. He not put that around him. Now, I told him, I said, that's great, but I would not probably put that in your bedroom because look at the. The kid that plays Spider Man. He's lonely. His romantic life is a mess. So. So put that in your workspace. He has a creative space, a studio, is a. A producer. So I said, that's great. It inspires you. But I don't think it's so inspiring for your. Your girlfriend. Right, Right. So you have to think about what it really.
Co-Host
It. Yeah, I love that. What are some common things to manifest? I don't really. Oh, I don't need more money or a job. Is it any use if you don't have. I don't understand this weight. What are some common things to manifest? I don't really need more money or a job? Is it any use if you don't have specific goals? Is manifesting of use if you don't have specific goals?
Marie Diamond
You know, the thing is, we're constantly manifesting any anyhow, right? We're manifesting life. Every time you take a deep breath, we're manifesting life.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
Anytime you're eating, you're creating good energy for your body. Right. So I would say it, you don't need to really manifest physical things or things like money, but it could be inspiration that you want to manifest. You want to create a happy life, a peaceful life.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So just it can be that you want to manifest some values that you have.
Co-Host
Have.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So manifestation, of course, a lot of people focusing on the money and the love, but it's like you're saying it's about growing and evolving as a human being.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So in that sense, I love the word manifestation because it literally says mana. Right. And mana is. Is actually energetic food, fruit, the mana.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So originally, mana would have been considered bread.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
Because bread can be blessed. So that's mana. So. And it's like every day you have your daily bread. Like mana. It's like part of that.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
But mana is really energetic food.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
But it's fast, and it's like. It's a feast.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
It's a. Literally a. I would say a party. Right. So it's like, why don't you think about what you want to manifest is to have a happy life.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
That every day is a life you enjoy. Every day is a life that is a feast for you.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So for me, that is part of manifestation.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
And perhaps a little bit more deeper and spiritual than most people think about. But, like, if you, in the beginning of your day, can start thinking what you want in life, and you're like, thinking, like, you know what? I just want a good day.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
A day that I'm fulfilled, I'm happy, I had wonderful conversations, great food with friends, whatever it is. At the end of the day, you can look back, you're like, you know what? That was such a blissful day. That is manifestation for me.
Co-Host
It's interesting you should say that, because this morning before we did this, like, I've never done a podcast in a studio. I've. You know, I'm not a stranger to cameras and microphones, but this was new. This is a new experience. You and I have met online a couple of times. We've never been in each other's presence, and I thought, how do I want this to feel. And I actually felt it. I imagined it. I was like, I want this to be like a warm, gushy, easy, fun conversation. And we're manifesting that, you know? So, yeah, it's sometimes completely invisible, but very, very satisfying. From Cassandra. I want to ensure my bedroom is optimal for sleep, but it's small and oddly shaped with my bed taking up most of the room. Room. What can I do, feng shui wise, which isn't moving the bed.
Marie Diamond
Well, again, I would go back to the colors.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So especially when you have a smaller space. The smaller the space, the more calm your colors need to be.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
Because if you do intense colors in such a room, it's like the colors cannot breathe.
Listener
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
Because the space is too small. Small.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So I would go for lighter colors or pastel colors, something. But I would not do a hot pink or a hot purple because that will be overwhelming for that space.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So that's one of the things I would suggest then. I would like her to look for, like one beautiful piece of art.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So I would not put art on every wall because it will again have that feeling of overwhelm realm. And again, we don't want that. We want that balanced, peaceful energy. So, like, when she wakes up, like, could be a beautiful painting of a garden or flowers. Something like when you wake up, you're like, oh, I'm in a good mood.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So I would suggest that. And one of the things sometimes people feel when there's a smaller room is sometimes they put the bed completely to the corner of the room. And I always say it's always better to have space left and right of your bed because you don't feel so enclosed.
Guest
Yeah.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
And they do that a lot with children. They put like the bed, like in a corner because then it's space to. To play. I mean, like, well, for children. I understand that.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
But if you're a grown up, that could feel too overwhelming.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So I always say, just think that you can stretch your arms open. Open, like left and right. If you are too much to the corner, like, it's like your aura field cannot breathe very well. So try to always have a little bit of space left and right. With a nightstand if you can. If not just to have some. When you open your arms, like you want to stretch yourself, like, oh, I'm awake. I'm happy that you can do that.
Co-Host
Is there a way of fooling the mind into feeling more expanded? Like a mirror in the bedroom? That's a no know.
Marie Diamond
No. We try to avoid A mirror in a bedroom. Because we have seen when people creates that doubling effect.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
And sometimes people, when they feel, you know, tired and, and stressed, like it's like the mirror is picking that energy up. Right.
Co-Host
Increasing it and.
Marie Diamond
Well, slightly increasing it. Right. So I've seen many times that people feel. Not everybody, but some people that are super sensitive.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
They feel sometimes they sleep better without a mirror.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
Reflecting the bed.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
But it's not for everyone. But I've seen some people feel the difference there.
Guest
Yeah.
Co-Host
I noticed in having, you know, reading your book recently, I've been sort of re. Feng shui ing and looking again at my home because things get cluttered and things get old and you know, so I've been throwing out some books, I mean, donating some books. And I realized that across from my bed is this, this picture that my 12 year old niece did. Although she did it when she was about 8.
Marie Diamond
Yeah.
Co-Host
And it's of an ice cream cone.
Marie Diamond
Oh.
Co-Host
Which I love because I love her and I've always loved ice cream. I mean, not that I eat much of it anymore, but ice cream. But then it suddenly occurred to me when I really tuned it, I was like, it's frozen.
Marie Diamond
It's frozen.
Co-Host
You know.
Marie Diamond
Yeah. I, I definitely would like to hang this on a kitchen. Around a kitchen table or something. That's kind of a fun thing.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
But it's, it's the cold energy. Right. It's not really compelling romantic vibrations. No. Right. Not at all. So I definitely would also find a different place for that.
Co-Host
I'll give you a report.
Marie Diamond
Okay. I would love that.
Co-Host
The fire energy. Not too much fire though. Something soft, something warm.
Marie Diamond
Soft and warm. I would not do too much red. Yeah, Yeah. I mean, some little items of red show passion. So that's not bad. But I always say when it's like a whole bedroom would be in red. I'm not sure how your subconscious would feel about that.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
Because it's like, would you not go into a, a red alert experience? It's like fire.
Co-Host
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Marie Diamond
Would you feel very calm and peaceful? I had, you know, once in a while people totally could sleep with that.
Co-Host
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
But there were more people that felt better after they changed the red. And I'm not saying you can't do a red curtain or something or, or some items or red carpet or. But just like everything red. I think that could be too much. It's about the balance of five elements in feng shui.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So we have wood, metal, earth, water and fire. So when we have one color that is too much. We're always out of balance, and our sensatory system feels that.
Co-Host
I love talking to you. Okay. Because the house that I'm in right now, I painted it myself. Oh, okay. I tried to use a color of every chakra.
Marie Diamond
Yeah.
Co-Host
So going through the house and just being in it feels balancing and lovely. And anyway, I don't know why I'm talking about my own house, but everything you're saying is true. Okay. One last question from Helena. I have looked into feng shui, and I think my bedroom is right for sleep. But what can I do to the rest of the house to make it a place of relaxation? Hmm.
Marie Diamond
So one of the first things I always say to people, you know, when you enter your house.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
Because you come from outside, the world can be quite intense. You come from a job or from meetings. When you open the door, do you feel already, ah, I'm at home.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
Because in the word home is the two letters om.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So when we sing Om, like in Tibetan or traditions, Asian traditions, it really creates a higher vibration.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So when you open the door, do you feel like, oh, yeah, finally I can relax.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So open the door and see, like, what's the image? Are there beautiful flowers or an orchid or a candle or beautiful images of your family? Like something you feel? Yes, I'm welcoming myself. I'm welcoming also others in that sense. Space. That's one of the reasons I don't like people using the garage to go into their space.
Co-Host
Interesting.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
Now, of course, sometimes it's just more practical, you know, when you go for grocery shopping. But I would say I would never use it all the time.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
Because again, that you create that energy of. I come in and let's be honest, most garages are not so decluttered. Right. It's not like I would say, think about if you would bring in an important person into your home.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
Let's say you bring the universe inside your home or your boss, would you bring them into your garage?
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
You wouldn't. You would like to bring them into the front door?
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So that once in a while that's not a problem, but like a consistency. Always make sure your. Your entrance feels welcoming. Have a welcome mat.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
Just not a mat that is broken and dirty. And I just come in and have war colors. Colors that you feel, you know, I love that.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So, for example, I have this tanga that I have that was made in Tibet for me, about the. The Buddha with the. Of compassion, with a thousand hands. Of compassion. And I love that at my front door because when I walk in it's like he has thousand hands or she. It's. I don't know if it's a male or female, but it's like I'm welcoming you with thousand hands.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So I just love that. When I see that, I always feel, ah, that, that feeling of I'm, I'm happy to be home.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So I don't know what that is for you, but always think about that.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So that's the first place I would look like you to look at. And then come into your living room like. Or it could be your family room. You, you spend a lot of time in. You know, are there life plants.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
Or the plan. So dead beds. You know, is a lot of clutter there or just. It's a mismatch of things. Or just too much. You know, I've seen sometimes people have cabinets and there's so much little, little things in there. I'm thinking it's probably overwhelming.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So think about if somebody important would come into your space. Some people say I never allow people to come into my home. I'm saying there's something off with your home then.
Co-Host
Yeah.
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
Because if you say that means you don't even feel happy in your home.
Co-Host
Home.
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
Or when people say I don't spend a lot of time in my living room. Why not?
Listener
Right.
Marie Diamond
So it means something is off. Because if you don't like it, how will you bring people in?
Guest
Yeah.
Marie Diamond
So I want you to really just be aware and look around and feel into it. Not one time, but several times. Like. And look at him like, is this still who I am? And is this still who I want to be?
Co-Host
And can I feel better and better and better in my own home? It's just this endless journey of continuing to cultivate wellness. Thank you so much for your wisdom, your experience, your good vibes. You're a lovely person. So your book, your home is a vision board. Please, everybody interested in the topic today, check it out because it's very user friendly and interesting and you can apply it immediately. Immediately. Tell us about your app.
Marie Diamond
So I created an app because people have a hard time to understand the compass.
Guest
Yeah.
Co-Host
Yes.
Marie Diamond
So I created an app where they based on their birthday, they can find their easy directions and literally they just download it, put in their birthday and their birth gender. And so it actually will show the directions that are strong for you. Right. And you would just hold it and it doesn't matter because it's a compass, wherever you're looking at, it will tell you which are the directions very easily. And there are videos on it, and there's daily messages coming in. And the book and the app work together. So this is a really great step for them to really go to the next level of feng shui.
Co-Host
Yes. Well, thank you. Thank you so much. And for everyone watching or listening, thank you for tuning in for this great conversation to make our lives just better and better. And, you know, like, it's unlimited. Marie.
Marie Diamond
It totally is. And thank you so much for the great work you bring to the world and your impact. It's so amazing to see all the beautiful results. Thank you for that, too.
Host
Thank you.
Sleep Magic: Manifestation, Self-Worth & Feng Shui for Sleep 💌✨ Magic Mailbag Feat. Marie Diamond
Released on April 23, 2025, "Sleep Magic" is a podcast hosted by hypnotherapist Jessica Porter, aiming to help listeners improve their sleep through hypnosis, meditation, and insightful discussions on personal well-being. In this special episode, Jessica teams up with Feng Shui master Marie Diamond to explore the profound connection between our living environments and our ability to manifest our desires, build self-worth, and achieve restful sleep.
Marie Diamond joins Jessica Porter on this episode to delve into the world of Feng Shui and its impact on our lives. With over 30 years of experience and more than 2 million online students, Marie brings a wealth of knowledge on how the arrangement and energy of our living spaces can influence our mental and emotional states.
Marie Diamond introduces Feng Shui as the art of arranging your environment to create a harmonious flow of energy, or "Qi," which fosters balance and peace. She explains that our surroundings subconsciously affect us, shaping our moods and behaviors even when we are unaware.
Marie Diamond [04:13]: "Feng Shui literally means wind and water. It's all about the flow of energy and vitality. When we are in a beautiful energy, we feel balanced, peaceful, and calm."
Jessica connects this concept to the podcast's focus on self-hypnosis and meditation, highlighting how both practices aim to nurture the subconscious mind—something that Feng Shui can significantly support by optimizing our external environments.
Marie’s book, "Your Home is a Vision Board," serves as a cornerstone for the episode’s discussion. The premise is that our homes reflect our inner desires and aspirations, acting as tangible vision boards that can help manifest our goals.
Marie Diamond [04:10]: "We are so connected with our inner mind that we sometimes don't realize how our environment is subconsciously giving us messages through colors, images, and the overall flow of energy."
Marie emphasizes the importance of being mindful of what we place around us, as these elements continuously send out frequencies that can either support or hinder our personal growth and manifestation efforts.
One of the pivotal parts of the conversation revolves around Marie’s concept of three distinct types of luck that influence our lives:
Heaven's Luck (Spiritual Luck): This is our inherent destiny or purpose, the talents and plans we are born with.
Marie Diamond [08:48]: "Spiritual luck is like when we are born, we have a certain destiny, a plan. We have talents that we are born with."
Human Luck: This pertains to the actions we take to realize our potential. It's the proactive steps we make towards fulfilling our destiny.
Marie Diamond [09:57]: "Human luck is about taking action, believing in yourself, and releasing blockages through tools like hypnosis."
Earth Luck: This is the luck derived from our environment—the setting in which we live and how it supports or disrupts our goals.
Marie Diamond [10:39]: "Earth luck focuses on how our environment aligns with our personal goals and purpose. It's about creating a harmonious living space that supports our aspirations."
Marie stresses that neglecting any of these aspects can leave a significant portion of our potential untapped. Aligning our environment with our personal intentions enhances our ability to manifest desired outcomes seamlessly.
Throughout the episode, Marie Diamond addresses several listener-submitted questions, providing practical Feng Shui tips to enhance various aspects of life.
Lizzie shares her struggle with loneliness and superficial friendships, seeking advice on fostering deeper connections.
Marie Diamond [22:18]: "Write down the kind of friends you truly want. Examine the images in your home—are they reflecting the relationships you desire?"
Marie recommends using positive imagery and warm colors to create an inviting atmosphere that naturally attracts meaningful relationships.
Catherine asks how to optimize a small, oddly shaped bedroom for better sleep without moving the bed.
Marie Diamond [25:22]: "Opt for lighter or pastel colors to keep the space calm. Use a single piece of art to avoid overwhelm and ensure there's space on either side of the bed for energy to flow."
Marie advises maintaining a clutter-free environment and carefully selecting decor that promotes relaxation and peace.
Sergio is torn between having radical self-confidence and fearing delusion as he pursues his goals.
Marie Diamond [34:46]: "Stretch yourself gradually. Set achievable next steps that build towards your larger vision without overextending beyond your comfort zone."
Marie emphasizes the importance of incremental growth and maintaining a balance between dreaming big and staying grounded.
Jess loves collecting memorabilia but wonders how it fits into Feng Shui principles.
Marie Diamond [40:13]: "It's perfectly fine to have items you love. Ensure they align with the room's purpose. For example, place playful items like an ice cream cone illustration in the kitchen rather than the bedroom."
Marie advises thoughtful placement of personal items to ensure they contribute positively to the room's energy.
An inquiry about the usefulness of manifestation without specific goals.
Marie Diamond [42:10]: "We are constantly manifesting life itself through everyday actions. Focus on manifesting values like happiness and peace, not just material things."
Marie broadens the perspective of manifestation to include intangible aspects like joy and fulfillment.
Helena wants to make her entire home a place of relaxation despite having a small, awkwardly shaped bedroom.
Marie Diamond [50:40]: "Ensure the entrance feels welcoming with positive imagery and maintain clutter-free common areas. Incorporate plants and harmonious decor in living spaces to promote relaxation."
Marie highlights the importance of consistent energy flow throughout the home, starting from the entrance and extending to communal areas.
Color Psychology: Utilize warm and light colors like yellows, pinks, and pastels in spaces meant for relaxation and sleep, while reserving intense colors for areas that require energy and stimulation.
Clutter Management: Keep bedrooms and relaxation areas free from clutter to minimize subconscious stress and promote tranquility.
Personalized Feng Shui: Use personalized Feng Shui practices based on individual birthdates and personal preferences to create spaces that resonate deeply with one’s unique energy.
Forgiveness and Letting Go: Before making environmental changes, engage in forgiveness practices to release past traumas, which can otherwise impede the effectiveness of Feng Shui transformations.
Consistent Environment Maintenance: Maintain a consistent and harmonious environment to support continual personal growth and well-being.
Visualization and Imagery: Display images and items that reflect your desired state of being and goals to subconsciously reinforce your aspirations.
