Hi, I'm Janie, and welcome back to Sleep Magic. I'm so glad we're connecting right when you need it most. This is your safe space to slow down, step away from the noise, and gently return to a quieter state of mind. The mind can become crowded, filled with thoughts, decisions, responsibilities. You can gently nod your head if you know exactly what I mean. For a while, it builds so slowly that we often don't notice how much more we are handling and how much more we are processing. Each and every day, the new normal for mental and emotional intake gradually increases. And with each new addition to our life, every uptick of mental and emotional energy can go totally unnoticed and totally unchecked. But over time, that mental noise can catch up to us. And I know that we all can understand that feeling of incredible overwhelm. And then, of course, we go into search for clarity. The mental and emotional fog has finally become obvious to us, and we know that something needs to change. But here's the thing about clarity. It doesn't come from pushing ourselves harder, and as much as we might try, it doesn't come from thinking our way to it. No, clarity asks for space. It requires us to sit in silence, and it's really about getting more and more comfortable in the stillness. So tonight I'll help you experience the comfort of stillness so your mind can slow down and clarity can rise naturally from that place of calm. Before we begin, our only AD break that makes this magic possible to go AD free, follow the link in the show notes.

Something I talk about often is the importance of having a place you can return to. For me, Sleep Magic is meant to be that kind of space, a place your nervous system can come back to again and again to exhale, soften and feel supported at the end of the day. But if your mind won't quiet night after night, or if anxiety, depression, ADHD or insomnia are starting to interfere with your life, you may need a different level of care. I always find myself paying attention to the little things that help me relax and settle in, and a comfortable bed is always at the top of that list. That's why I treated myself to Quince's organic Crisp Percale sheet set. I wanted something with that cozy, settled feeling, but still light and breathable enough for warmer nights. And it's exactly that. Quince's bedding is designed to help your bed feel cooler, lighter and more comfortable through summer. Their 100% European linen bedding even gets softer with every wash. hello, my friend Stephen Dalton here. Have you ever thought about what it would be like to go to sleep laughing or at least smiling? Well, I'm here to tell you about my new channel. It's called Humorously Dull History for Sleep. In each episode, I bring you through the history of a particular topic, like the history of houses or the spoon or dogs. And I tell you the history in, I hope, a humorous way. Find Humorously Dull History for Sleep wherever you get your podcasts.

Okay, now it's time to let your mind begin to soften and feel yourself being guided toward effortless sleep. It's time to drift, drop and let go.
Guided Meditation Narrator
Now take a moment to make sure that you are in a very comfortable and relaxed position. There is nothing you need to do or force here. You can just let yourself drift into deep comfort
Janie
and follow the sound of my voice.
Guided Meditation Narrator
And right where you are is perfect. Tonight, there is nowhere you need to rush to. Nothing at all that you need to do. Because the mind often becomes clearest when
Janie
it is finally allowed to become still.

And in a world filled with constant stimulation,

constant thinking, Constant urgency, stillness can almost feel unfamiliar at first. But your mind was never designed to live in endless noise. So just as water settles when untouched, your thoughts can settle too. Beneath the movement, beneath the overthinking, Beneath the mental clutter, there is a quieter intelligence already within you. Calm, knowing. A natural clarity. And tonight you simply allow space for it to rise. So settle in now. Allow your body to feel supported and held. And gently begin noticing your breathing. Just notice it without trying to change it in any way. Allow the inhale to arrive naturally. And then the exhale to leave naturally. And perhaps tonight you begin allowing yourself to experience something rare. Moments without needing to do any mental work at all. Moments without needing to prepare, Without needing to constantly interpret your life. It's just this moment, Just this breath. Just this quiet. And already something inside you may begin softening. Because all it takes is stillness. And your nervous system understands stillness. Your body understands peace, even if the mind has forgotten for a while. So now take one slow, deeper breath in. And gently exhale, exhale, exhale. And again. Breathing in calm, Breathing out effort. There is nothing at all expected of you here. You can just be. So. Again, breathe in calm. And breathe out effort. And again breathe in spaciousness. And breathe out mental tension.

Good.

And now allow your attention to drift softly to the top of your head. There you go. You're noticing the scalp is relaxing, The forehead smoothing. Soften the smallest muscles of your face. Around your eyes, Along your jawline. And perhaps you begin noticing how much effort the face sometimes carries without realizing it. So tonight you let. Let that effort go. The jaw unclenches. And you drop the tongue from the roof of your mouth and let it melt, melt, melt. And with every exhale, your mind begins slowing slightly. More and more. Nothing is forced. Everything is natural. Thoughts no longer spin so quickly. You're simply floating now. Floating. Your thoughts are settling, softening, Clearing. And as your body relaxes further, you may begin noticing the quiet spaces between thoughts. Tiny moments of openness, Tiny pauses, Tiny pockets of stillness. And those spaces matter. Because clarity often does not arise through more thinking. It arrives in the spaces between thought, just as it is doing right now. It rises from quiet, From pause, From presence. And you're allowing yourself to be very present right now. You're doing a wonderful job. Give yourself permission to pause even more. Allow your shoulders to relax more deeply now. There you go. Heaviness cloaks the shoulder. Your arms now are softening and feeling heavier and heavier. Notice that your hands are resting effortlessly. And as you bring your awareness to your chest, you feel it open, Rising and falling with every breath in and out. You can just be. There is nothing you need to do, nothing to prepare, nothing you need to think through right now. Only rest. Stillness. Breathing. Just breathe. Feel a river of relaxation that flows all the way down your spine, Reaching your waist. And then cascading down into your legs. Allow your legs to relax. Every muscle softens. And you notice that your feet have become wonderfully heavy, wonderfully heavy. Grounded. Now. Support it.
Janie
Calm.
Guided Meditation Narrator
Calm brings clarity. I'm going to count to. From 10 to 0. And with each count, you begin to imagine yourself sitting beside a perfectly still lake. I'd like you to put yourself right there beside the lake. Whether you can see it or hear it, Or feel your toes. That have slipped into the water on the edge of it. Use your heightened senses to bring yourself there. At 10, it is dawn, and the world is quiet here. At nine. No demands, No pressures. Nine is hate. Only soft morning light that stretches across the water. At 7, the surface of the lake is completely calm. At 6, so calm that it reflects the sky perfectly. Five. Now is four. And as you sit beside the still water, you begin to realize something. At 3. Now is 2. When the water is disturbed, its reflections become unclear. But when the water becomes still, one now is zero. Everything becomes visible again. And your mind is the same. You've always been capable of clarity, But so often we can become overstimulated, overloaded, pulled in too many directions at once. Tonight you are returning to still water, Returning to yourself. And now I want you to imagine placing every unfinished thought, every worry, every mental loop onto little leaves that are floating beside the lake. There is no need to solve anything tonight, so you can just place them all onto the leaves that float out over the surface of the lake and just watch them drift one by one. The mind becoming quieter and quieter and quieter. The mind more spacious, More open. And perhaps you begin realizing something surprising. That stillness is full. Full of awareness, full of intuition. Full of quiet understanding. And many of the answers you seek have been waiting beneath the noise

all along.

So now you begin practicing. Simply being. Not fixing anything, not figuring everything out. Just be. Now notice what happens as you stop mentally chasing certainty. Notice that your breathing deepens. Your shoulders soften more. Your nervous system settles. And the mind begins reorganizing itself naturally. Just as the body heals during sleep, the mind clarifies during stillness. The mind clarifies during stillness. The mind clarifies during stillness. And now imagine a gentle light beginning to glow within the center of your chest. It's a soft, golden light. It's warm, peaceful, steady. It's a calm presence. So very calm. And with every breath you take, that light slowly expands. There you go. Feel that light expand through your chest. Expand through your mind. And now through your whole body. Your whole body. Like warm sunlight dissolving morning fog. You just let it all simply clear. Naturally, with this warm light, the light you connect to in your stillness, You are still. So repeat softly within your mind now, in your own voice, from your own chest and heart, with every fiber of

your being,

Say to yourself, softly within. I allow space for clarity. I do not need to rush answers. Stillness supports me. Calm reveals truth. My mind becomes clear in peace.

Peace.

Very good. And now you drift. Deeper. There you go. And sink deeper into quiet. Deeper into spaciousness. Feel yourself drop. There you go. Deeper now into rest. Deeper now into rest. Imagine now that you are walking slowly through a peaceful forest trail. You may see that trail and see that forest, or you may feel the essence of it. The tall trees that surround you, the soft earth beneath your feet. The air that is cool and fresh. And with every step, your thoughts grow quieter. Nature never rushes clarity. The trees do not strain to grow. The rivers do not force themselves to flow. The moon does not rush to become full. And you, too, you are allowed to unfold naturally. There is wisdom in slowing down. Wisdom in silence. Wisdom in pauses. And as you continue walking, you come upon a small clearing in the forest. In the center is a simple wooden bench. And I'd like you to sit there quietly. There are no phones, no distractions, no expectations. Just stillness. And at first, the mind may want to keep moving, and that's okay. You just simply observe. Like clouds drifting across the sky. You don't chase thoughts. You just allow them to pass. And slowly, the spaces between thoughts grow larger, Longer, Softer, More peaceful. And in those spaces, you begin hearing something deeper. Your intuition, Your inner knowing, Your natural wisdom. And perhaps you realize that clarity has a softer voice. It does not shout. It does not panic. It simply knows. And tonight you are learning how to hear it again. Now, as your body grows heavier and more and more relaxed, I will slowly count down from 20 to 1. And with each number your mind settles further into peaceful stillness. And through stillness is powerful clarity. 20. Softening, Slowing down, down. 18. Thoughts are drifting further away. And at. You're breathing in and out. As your shoulders melt. At 16.

Spaciousness opening now within you, within you. Into 14. You're so very calm. And even calmer now.
Janie
13.
Guided Meditation Narrator
Quieter now, quieter now. Good. Clarity comes in the calm, in the quiet. You're deeply relaxed at 12. And at 11, feeling safe in silence, Say in silence. 10. You're halfway down, drifting deeper now into sleep. Sleep. At nine, the mind becomes like still warm water. And at 8, you are peaceful and open. Peaceful and open. Seven. Floating, gently floating into sleep, your mind clear. At six, that calm wash all the way way through you. Through you. Deeper still. And 4. Clarity is rising naturally. Naturally. Quiet wisdom awakens its three. At 2. Completely at ease. And deeply peaceful. At one, you trust stillness. Now. You trust space. You trust yourself. And in this calm state, clarity rises naturally, again and again with ease. So now simply rest. And drift. And soften, Allowing the mind to become wonderfully quiet, Allowing sleep to come naturally. And allowing peace to hold you gently through the night. Good night.
