Elliot Kaelin
Smart Less Medium. Sometimes things are hidden inside of other things. Like the other day I heard a noise from my dishwasher. Turns out there was a squirrel living in there. I let him stay. He was doing a great job washing the dishes. But it's not only squirrels that can hide in things and not only dishwashers that can be hidden in names can hide inside of other names. For instance, can you tell me the name of an iconic basketball player and the name of an iconic pop star, which, when put together, reveal the name of an iconic folk singer. You'll find out the answer pretty soon after I say this is Clueless.
Clueless Intro Voice
Clueless.
Elliot Kaelin
Clueless.
Natasha Leggero
I'm clueless.
Elliot Kaelin
Welcome to Smartless Presents. Clueless, the puzzle podcast that helps old ladies across the street, even if that wasn't the direction they were going in. I I'm your host, Elliot Kaelin, Strange visitor from another planet. It's February and that means two things. Valentine's Day and Lincoln's birthday. This week's guests fit the theme of one of those days. They're two comedy superstars who are also an actual real life married couple. No, I'm not talking about Winnie the Pooh and Piglet. I mean, Moshe Kasher and Natasha Leggero. Thank you so much for joining us, Moshe and Natasha.
Natasha Leggero
Thank you.
Moshe Kasher
Actually, Natasha has an Abraham Lincoln connection as well. She's from Illinois.
Elliot Kaelin
I gotta hear it. Oh, that's right. Lincoln's Land of Lincoln.
Natasha Leggero
I forgot about that.
Moshe Kasher
Actually connected to Lincoln in another way, which is that I supported the north in the Civil War.
Elliot Kaelin
At the time, it was a controversial stand, but I think history has shown that you were right to do that. Thank you so much for your steadfast support for the north and the Union side. Moshe. Natasha. So thank you so much for joining us today. I can't wait to take you through some games. But first, I believe you also have a podcast that you would like to tell us about and that I desperately want to hear about.
Natasha Leggero
Our podcast is called the Endless Honeymoon Podcast. We give relationship advice. We are not licensed professionals.
Moshe Kasher
We don't play games on that podcast, if you know what I mean, Elliot. It's serious stuff.
Natasha Leggero
We roast people's love lives. We try to help them. Sometimes we have people call in with their deepest, darkest secrets, and we'll have other comedians guesting on the show and.
Moshe Kasher
Essentially mocking the love of other people. But we would love for everybody to come join the mockery.
Elliot Kaelin
That sounds wonderful. What is your experience with puzzles before we begin? Puzzles, games, riddles. How do you feel about them? Are they a part of your daily life? Is it something you choose to avoid? In which case, I apologize for the game that we're about to play. How do you feel about them?
Natasha Leggero
I would say that I'm more on the clueless side of things. Don't excel in puzzles.
Moshe Kasher
Well, we have a daughter that loves puzzles and riddles and is obsessed with telling riddles that everybody at the dinner table already knows because we've gone over them ad infinitum, but she still delivers them as if we've never heard them before.
Elliot Kaelin
And do you pretend that you don't know the answer, or do you just dismiss them? You go, yeah, it's a candle. I know it's a candle. Or do you pretend you don't know?
Natasha Leggero
I pretend I don't know. And Moshe and his family, they like to be, like, up. We already know this one. Let's move on.
Moshe Kasher
Yeah, we, like, in our family, it's about shutting down the illusion that we're charmed. It's like, no, no, no. We've heard this one before. Come to the table with something better next time.
Natasha Leggero
I was gonna say, I can't. I can get down with a co on.
Elliot Kaelin
Oh, okay.
Natasha Leggero
That's kind of more my speed. Something that I could, like, think about for a few years, and then finally, you know, the sound of one hand clapping those type of, like, Zen coons. I find those sort of interesting. I hate puns, and I'm bad at riddles. I can't spell.
Moshe Kasher
This is very.
Natasha Leggero
No, I can spell. I'm actually a good speller.
Moshe Kasher
This is very Natasha Leggero coded right here. Feel about games and puzzles. I love Zen coons. Is that what you're asking?
Elliot Kaelin
That's. That's exactly what I wanted to know. And I feel like we have a new strategy for your daughter, which is to come to the table with a Zen Cohen. And even if no matter how many times your family has heard it, there's not going to have the answer.
Moshe Kasher
So because time is essentially an illusion, as is human Connection as is life itself.
Elliot Kaelin
Well, on that stirring and optimistic note, I'd like to move on to our opening question. Moshe. Natasha, do you have an answer to our opening question? I will repeat it for you. Can you name an iconic basketball player and an iconic pop star whose names, when you put them together, one in front of the other, reveal the name of a legendary folk singer. Do you know the answer? Feel free to talk it out amongst yourselves.
Moshe Kasher
This is easy. Magic Gaga.
Elliot Kaelin
You're right, Benny.
Moshe Kasher
Magic Gaga.
T-Mobile Advertiser
That's right.
Elliot Kaelin
The legendary folk singer. Magic Gaga. There was, like, a baby wizard folk singer. Yeah. Yeah.
Natasha Leggero
Okay. I'm thinking simple names.
Moshe Kasher
Okay.
Natasha Leggero
I know two. Basketball. You said basketball.
Elliot Kaelin
A basketball player and a pop star. When you put one of their names in front of the other ones, it reveals the name of folk singer. Yeah.
Moshe Kasher
To be honest, a real difficult challenge for Natasha would be, can you name one famous basketball player?
Natasha Leggero
Larry Bird.
Moshe Kasher
Very good, Natasha. You did it.
Natasha Leggero
Oh, Michael Jordan.
Moshe Kasher
Okay, Michael, Let's. Let's keep Michael and a famous pop star. Jackson. Michael Jackson.
Natasha Leggero
No, no, it has to be.
Elliot Kaelin
No, we're looking for. So I'm gonna give you a little more information. It'll be the last name of the basketball player will go together with the first name of the pop star to create the name of a folk singer. And it is a modern contemporary basketball player. So not as far back as Michael Jordan or Magic Johnson or Larry.
Natasha Leggero
And they don't make folk singers anymore.
Elliot Kaelin
Folk singers.
Natasha Leggero
Joni Mitchell, Carole King.
Moshe Kasher
Honey, I got it.
Natasha Leggero
What?
Moshe Kasher
It's. I'm done. It's all good.
Natasha Leggero
Who is Bob Dylan?
Moshe Kasher
James Taylor, baby.
Elliot Kaelin
How did you get there?
Moshe Kasher
Well, LeBron James, Taylor Swift, the two greatest pop culture icons of our era.
Elliot Kaelin
You got it.
Moshe Kasher
To create James Taylor, to do James.
Elliot Kaelin
Taylor, you were almost. Natasha, I assumed that when you mentioned Carole King, you were getting. You were going to get to the fact that I saw Carole King and James Taylor perform in concert together once, and that was. You were eventually going to get to James Taylor that way. So that was a good.
Natasha Leggero
I could have gotten to James Taylor from Carole King. That's true.
Elliot Kaelin
So you're exactly right. It is. LeBron James and Taylor Swift make James Taylor Taylor. This riddle would work Even better if LeBron James and Taylor Swift were James Taylor's parents. But unfortunately, that's not the world we live in. We don't live in a perfect world. That's not how it worked out.

Listeners, did you get the answer? If not, that's okay. You are still deserving of love. Probably. I mean, I don't know you, but I know you're deserving of this first game. It's called Odd Throuples.
Clueless Intro Voice
Now you take two famous people and.
Elliot Kaelin
You add a third.
Clueless Intro Voice
Now you say it all together and it sounds absurd.
Elliot Kaelin
That's odd Thruffles. This show, as you may have guessed by now, is basically a music delivery system. But very short songs on very specific subjects. All right, this game is very similar to our opening question. It's pretty much exactly the same as what we just did, only more so. I'm going to give you clues to celebrity names whose names again combine to make a third name. The last name of one and the first name of another combine to make a third name. And I want you to tell me that third name. Are you ready?
Moshe Kasher
Yes, we are ready.
Elliot Kaelin
Okay, so this first clue, George, who is one half of Wham plus action painter Pollock.
Natasha Leggero
Michael Jackson.
Elliot Kaelin
Yes, Michael Jackson. Very good. So, Moshe, you had the right answer earlier to the wrong question. So there was.
Moshe Kasher
Isn't that in and of itself a Zen co op?
Natasha Leggero
And also I would like to state for the record, I was about to get there.
Elliot Kaelin
Oh, yeah, yeah. But it's a team game, so you can. There's no competition in this one. You're working together. A victory for one.
Moshe Kasher
You're not familiar, I think, with the dynamics of our marriage. The game of our marriage is. It's all a competition.
Elliot Kaelin
I've never seen this before where a cooperative game gets turned into a competitive game by the contestants. But if you want to do it that way, we can do it that way.
Moshe Kasher
I just Want to say for the record, I'm about to dunk on Natasha Leggero. LeBron James style.
Elliot Kaelin
Question number two. YouTuber turned boxer Jake. And reality show talent judge cowell.
Natasha Leggero
Simon Cowell, YouTube boxer, you probably, hey, honey, go ahead.
Moshe Kasher
Sink or swim on your own.
Natasha Leggero
I don't know.
Moshe Kasher
Boxer wanted to not work as a team.
Natasha Leggero
I don't know. Boxer is.
Moshe Kasher
It is. I'll give you a hint. We had dinner with him, with Bill Maher once upon a time.
Natasha Leggero
I still don't know. Oh, Paul Simon.
Moshe Kasher
Paul Simon.
Elliot Kaelin
You're right. Paul Simon. You had dinner with Paul Simon and Bill Maher?
Moshe Kasher
We had dinner with Paul Simon. And I think this anecdote maybe has been shared before because it feels like a talking point. But we asked him about the Sound of Silence.
Natasha Leggero
No, we asked him about writing songs.
Moshe Kasher
Yes. And he told us about the Sound of Silence. And he said when he wrote it, he goes, I remember when I wrote it, I thought, huh, that's better than the songs I usually write. That was his whole analysis. Writing one of the great masterpieces of American music. Huh, that's better than songs I usually do.
Natasha Leggero
You know what I loved about the anecdote?
Elliot Kaelin
I mean, Cecilia's good, but this is better than that. This.
Moshe Kasher
I would say it's a little better, but it was.
Natasha Leggero
It was interesting because it really did bring home the idea that the music is, like, coming through you. And he was like. He was like an observer. It wasn't pretentious how he said it, but you could just see that, like, oh, when you're really brilliant like this, it's like it's. It's. It's being revealed to you.
Moshe Kasher
You're a passenger.
Natasha Leggero
Yeah.
Elliot Kaelin
You don't know exactly where it's coming from. Yeah.
Natasha Leggero
Yeah. So I thought that was cool.
Elliot Kaelin
But you're exactly right. That was YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul and reality show talent judge Simon Cowell. I'm so much more impressed. At first, I thought you were saying you had dinner with Jake, Paul and Bill Maher, and I'm like, eh, all right. That's not.
Moshe Kasher
Honestly, it tracks.
Elliot Kaelin
Question number three. You're doing great. Surrealist artist man meets natural selection theorist. Darwin, man.
Natasha Leggero
Ray Charles. Darwin. Ray Charles.
Elliot Kaelin
Yes, Ray Charles. Ray Charles.
Moshe Kasher
It's Ray Charles. Why are you laughing, Ray Charles?
Elliot Kaelin
Because Ray Charles.
Natasha Leggero
Did you know, Man Ray. I bet you didn't know that.
Moshe Kasher
I did know Man Ray.
Natasha Leggero
You knew surrealist.
Moshe Kasher
I'm just surprised that you have Ray Charles. But no flicker of recognition about soul legend Ray Charles.
Natasha Leggero
Oh, I know who Ray Charles is.
Moshe Kasher
I was just Charles. Ray Charles. Ray Charles. Ray Charles.
Elliot Kaelin
You're like Ray Charles soda commercials. Yeah. Ray Charles. Yeah, that's what it is.
Moshe Kasher
Did he buy the world of coke?
Elliot Kaelin
He would sing. You got the right one, baby. Uh huh.
Moshe Kasher
That's right.
Elliot Kaelin
I don't remember which, so I can never which one.
Natasha Leggero
It was two decades of our childhood.
Moshe Kasher
That's right. Right. You got the right one, baby.
Elliot Kaelin
That was one of those ones where I eventually learned how important he was as a musician. But I was introduced to him as the guy who wanted you to drink a diet Pepsi. Yeah.
Moshe Kasher
I believe that actually in the another period writers room, a television program created by and starring my lovely wife in the top three very funny show and her partner Ricky Lino. And I was a writer on the show that I sung that refrain, you got the right one, baby. Uh huh. So many times that they told me I had to stop. And it was not a joke. They weren't joking. They were like enough with the right one, baby. Do you remember that?
Natasha Leggero
I do, yeah.
Elliot Kaelin
I have that same story. But it's the ba da ba ba ba jingle. And also instead of the writer's room, it's my house. It's where my family lives.
Moshe Kasher
The showrunner is your wife.
Elliot Kaelin
Yeah, exactly. She's like, you know, we gotta just to keep moving, just to keep work going today we need you to stop doing that great work. You're doing great. Question number four. The Princess of Wales from 1981 to 1997 meets former presidential hopeful Perrault, former president Diana Ross. Yes, Diana Ross. You got it. Princess Diana and Ross Perot.
Natasha Leggero
I'm kind of good at this.
Elliot Kaelin
And finally, last question for this game. Titanic singer Selene plus diminutive willow actor Davis. And we are technically fudging the spelling a little bit here, so don't go.
Natasha Leggero
By I don't know Davis. I know Dion well, I know the.
Moshe Kasher
Way to San Jose. It's Dionne Warwick. Final answer.
Elliot Kaelin
Okay, you got that right. Because I got the right one.
Moshe Kasher
Baby, you're fired.
Elliot Kaelin
That is Celine Dion and Warwick Davis. Or Warwick Davis, it's probably pronounced in England.
Natasha Leggero
I love Dion Warwick.
Elliot Kaelin
That's how they would say it in England. Yeah. Facts on troubles. Finally, this game ends in a bonus question I'm gonna ask you. In 1985, all of the answers from this game, all the people mentioned in the answers above, came together with about a dozen other top recording artists to form USA for Africa, the supergroup behind what top selling charity single we are the World.
Moshe Kasher
Is that how they Say it in England. That's how they say it in England.
Natasha Leggero
Which, by the way, I would highly recommend the documentary of the making of this single song. It is freaking awesome. You see Bob Dylan, he can't get it right and like, who sits down and tells him how to do it?
Moshe Kasher
No, it's so good.
Natasha Leggero
Bob is like so intimidated because he's.
Moshe Kasher
Like, it did so awesome to see Bob Dylan with the flop sweats. You know, he's like, I don't know what to do.
Natasha Leggero
And then I think it's Stevie Wonder.
Moshe Kasher
Stevie Wonder.
Natasha Leggero
Down he goes. Just do it like this. We are the world. And then Bob Dylan just does an impression of Stevie Wonder doing an impression of Bob Dylan. And like there are like eight icons who you see, like, have interesting meltdowns you see there. I mean, Cyndi Lauper really is like, like Fran Drescher, you know, like she kind of starts taking over and she's like telling everyone what to do. I just thought it was so.
Moshe Kasher
No, it was. It's an amazing documentary. And the thing that comes out of nowhere is Jake Paul. It was cut from the song, but he has a solo.
Elliot Kaelin
Really? Wow. Even though he was a baby or not even born yet at the time.
Moshe Kasher
Possibly not even born, but once again, it's a Zen Cohen. What is time? It's nothing but a flat circle, I guess.
Elliot Kaelin
Yeah. Amazing.
Natasha Leggero
Well, we won.
Elliot Kaelin
You won the game. You got 100% and the bonus question and you gifted us with, I don't know. I want to see the documentary. But even more than that, Natasha, I want to see your one woman show of the documentary where you're playing all the characters and all the parts. I would love that. That'd be amazing.
Moshe Kasher
It's called I am the world with Natasha Legger.

Listeners, did you do as well as Natasha and Moshe? If so, you should feel extremely proud of yourself. And if you didn't do as well as they did, you should still feel proud but just not as proud as if you did as well as they did. But maybe you'll feel better after our main game. It's right here. It's called coupled up. As the show goes on, the songs get longer. It's a beautiful scientific principle that we have going here at clueless. In this game, coupled up, I'm going to ask you to guess some two word phrases that are coupled up by common letters. So similar to the last game, this involves words kind of their relationship with each other in a phrase. But what this means that the last letter of the first word in the phrase is the same as the first letter of the second word in the phrase. So, for example, if the clue was it's happening to us right now, the answer would be real life, which shares an l in the words. The last letter of real and the first letter of life are the same l. So it's like the words are holding hands through the same letter just.
Moshe Kasher
For the listeners and like, this isn't me, but let's pretend your listeners completely don't understand what you're saying and want another example. Is there one?
Elliot Kaelin
All right, let's come up with another example. You know what? If you were telling your pet something nice, you would say, good dog, good ending in d and dog starting with d, that kind of phrase. So it's just that we want a first word that ends in one letter. The second word starts with the same letter. You'll get it.
Moshe Kasher
Okay.
Elliot Kaelin
You'll get it.
Moshe Kasher
Okay.
Elliot Kaelin
It'll make sense eventually. And if you don't, you ace that first game.
Moshe Kasher
So at this point, I'm officially self conscious about how difficult this is for me. So I want to just start and get through the segment.
Elliot Kaelin
Okay. I think that I appreciate that feeling of emotional resilience that you are willing to take whatever comes your way. You're coupled out. All right? I think you'll pick it up. Clue number one. Person with seven tiny roommates.
Moshe Kasher
Snow white.
Elliot Kaelin
You got it. It's just snow white. That's it. Snow and white. Snow white.
Moshe Kasher
W W H I T E. You got it.
Elliot Kaelin
See, you got it.
Moshe Kasher
Well, I only got it because I would have gotten it with or without this game. If you said person to seven tiny roommates. If this is what the game is, I think I understand it. Answer the question.
Elliot Kaelin
Question number two. Small glass vessel for an experiment. Small glass vessel for an experiment.
Natasha Leggero
Test tube.
Elliot Kaelin
Yep, you got it. Test tube.
Moshe Kasher
You got it.
Natasha Leggero
I still don't understand the letter thing, but I just knew the answer.
Moshe Kasher
T, E, S, T T U B E. Okay.
Elliot Kaelin
But it's okay. Just go by the clues. Just by the clues you're gonna do. Great. Question number three. Five out of five is usually the best this can be. Five out of five is usually the best this can be. This is a harder one. Yeah.
Moshe Kasher
This is where you have to actually understand the game. And that's where, as you know, that's our Achilles heel.
Natasha Leggero
That's where we tap out.
Elliot Kaelin
Well, what would you. Let's say. Let's say you're. I'll paint you a little scenario here. Let's say you have. You've had to go somewhere. You don't want to drive there yourself. You hire someone to drive you using an app.
Natasha Leggero
Stars.
Elliot Kaelin
And. And what do you give them at the end of the ride? Review.
Natasha Leggero
Five star review.
Elliot Kaelin
You know what I'm going to pick? I'm going to take star review. What we were looking for was star rating, but star review works great.
Natasha Leggero
Thank you.
Elliot Kaelin
Number four, Electronic substitute for a percussionist. Electronic substitution drum machine. Yes. Drum machine. Great. Number five, Extreme close up wide shot and bird's eye view are some examples of this.
Natasha Leggero
Extreme close up camera angles.
Elliot Kaelin
Yes, camera angles. Great. You're doing great.
Moshe Kasher
Natasha knows camera angles if nothing else. I know drum machines from my years in the rave scene and Natasha knows camera angles from her years as a starlet.
Elliot Kaelin
Yep. And together you can make a music video for like a new wave band. I guess that sounds.
Moshe Kasher
We are the world. We are the children.
Elliot Kaelin
Question number six. Someone with excellent vision. Is this someone with excellent vision. You can say they're this.
Natasha Leggero
Say it.
Moshe Kasher
Eagle eye.
Elliot Kaelin
Yep, you got it. Eagle eye or eagle eye. Perfect.
Natasha Leggero
I've never heard that.
Elliot Kaelin
Number seven. Nickname for Batman. What's Batman's nickname?
Moshe Kasher
The Dark Knight.
Elliot Kaelin
Yep. Dark Knight K is the start of night and the end of dark. Question number eight. This is our final question for the round. So you're acing this round. This game you don't even. You barely comprehend. So you're like Paul Simon. The answers are just coming to you.
Moshe Kasher
That's better than I usually do.
Elliot Kaelin
Question number eight. Words that might begin a children's playground rhyme or start a 911 call. Words that might begin a children's playground rhyme or start a 911 call.
Natasha Leggero
What is your emergency? What do they say? Hello.
Moshe Kasher
What is your emergency? Is a beautiful children's playground game. What is your emergency? Heart attack. Diabetes. What is your emergency?
Elliot Kaelin
Would you usually call 911 for a diabetes emergency?
Moshe Kasher
Listen, you told me this podcast is PG13. The thing that came to my mind, I was like, I Can't say that. So I tried to substitute in something a little bit more innocent and diabetes came to mind. I agree. You don't usually call 911 for that, but.
Elliot Kaelin
Okay, you made a good point.
Moshe Kasher
You want me to do the original?
Elliot Kaelin
No, no, no, I will. No, diabetes is great. Diabetes is great. And you can quote me on that. Diabetes is great, raves. Elliot Kaelin, can you think of what's. What's kind of the kind of classic children's rhyme that girls might do while they kind of like patty cake?
Moshe Kasher
Natasha, you love to patty cake.
Natasha Leggero
I don't really know any.
Moshe Kasher
Not last night, but the night before. Tommy knockers. Tommy knockers knocking at your door. Is that it?
Natasha Leggero
I usually outsource the patty cake to the nanny.
Moshe Kasher
Nanny cake.
Elliot Kaelin
No, I'd like to give up on this one.
Moshe Kasher
Yeah, I think we're tapping out.
Elliot Kaelin
Okay. The answer is hello operator. Hello operator.
Moshe Kasher
Oh, so you're saying I'm having a heart attack. I'm like, I can't breathe. And then the phone rings and the person picks up and go, hello operator.
Elliot Kaelin
Hello operator. I'm having a. I could use assistance very badly. Yeah, you're coupled out, but you did great. You got seven out of eight questions. Now you've made it through the gauntlet of life as a couple. I apologize. Life ends now. But now it is time for the real test of your partnership.
Moshe Kasher
Hello, operator. Life ends now.
Elliot Kaelin
The real test of your partnership. Today's Mega Clue. Muh Mum.
T-Mobile Advertiser
Mega clue.
Elliot Kaelin
That's right. Every main game ends with a mega clue. I want you to take the hand holding letters from each of this game's correct answers and you're going to unscramble them to reveal one of the secrets to a successful relationship. You might want a pen and paper to write down these letters. I'm going to give them to you again. Or it could be a pencil and paper. It doesn't matter to me what you write it down with.
Moshe Kasher
That's really cool of you to be so open minded about this.
Elliot Kaelin
I feel like we've been tough.
Moshe Kasher
You were a real tyrant about hello operator and diabetes tracking the logic of a diabetes call. But about this, you're being really chill. I appreciate it.
Elliot Kaelin
Yeah, I felt so bad about it. I feel like, you know what? So as a reminder, those letters which were the links between the words and the phrases are W, T, R, M as in maze or man or mailbag, A, E, K and O. To give you those letters again, listeners at home, W, T, R, M, A, E, K and O can you unscramble those letters into one of the secrets to a successful relationship. Hmm. I'll give you a moment. Here's a clue. It is what you have both shown today, despite almost not wanting to, you know, almost deliberately and almost refusing to at the beginning of the show.
Natasha Leggero
I know what it is.
Moshe Kasher
Natasha knows what it is.
Natasha Leggero
Teamwork.
Elliot Kaelin
Teamwork. You got that right. It's teamwork. That's right. Some people build their marriages on competition. Some people build it on teamwork. We'll see who wins in the end. Only time will tell.
Moshe Kasher
Well, we say in our family, we made up a rhyme to remember this. We say we made this up. Teamwork makes the dream work. We say that.
Elliot Kaelin
Oh, wow. Yeah. So that's like what you say in the house, just kind of like a family expression, you know?
Moshe Kasher
Yeah, it's like our family, the Leggero cashier family motto is teamwork makes the dream work. And communism is a good idea in theory. That's sort of our thing. That's what we said.
Elliot Kaelin
And I mean, it's interesting because those seem to be conflicting ideas in a way. You know, I guess that's a family history.
Moshe Kasher
What is a theory if not a dream? You know what I mean?
Elliot Kaelin
That's a very good point. A very good point. But you did great. Seven out of eight questions. Correct. And the mega clue listeners at home, did you get the answer? The mega clue answer. If not, don't do anything drastic. Take a deep breath, count to 10, then throw something breakable. You're gonna feel better afterwards. Of course, isn't it always the way? Just when you're getting comfortable with your guests, finally letting your guard down? Maybe you're about to kiss. The episode comes to an end. We're just out of time. Episode 213: Odd Throuples/Coupled Up
Guests: Moshe Kasher & Natasha Leggero
Date: February 2, 2026
Host: Elliott Kalan
In this bite-sized, puzzle-packed episode, Emmy-winning writer Elliott Kalan welcomes comedy power couple Moshe Kasher and Natasha Leggero for a themed slate of brainteasers—perfectly timed for Valentine’s Day. The puzzles revolve around wordplay, celebrity mash-ups, and couple-based clues, testing Moshe and Natasha’s wit, competitive banter, and teamwork. Along the way, listeners get hilarious asides about marriage dynamics, surprising celebrity anecdotes, and a reaffirmation that, even when a game feels confusing, humor and teamwork carry the day.
[01:20–02:25]
“At the time, it was a controversial stand, but I think history has shown that you were right to do that.” — Elliott ([02:06])
[02:25–02:53]
[03:07–04:28]
“In our family, it’s about shutting down the illusion that we’re charmed.” — Moshe ([03:43])
[04:44–07:05]
“Can you name an iconic basketball player and an iconic pop star whose names, when you put one in front of the other, reveal the name of a legendary folk singer?”
Memorable Exchange:
“LeBron James, Taylor Swift, the two greatest pop culture icons of our era.” — Moshe ([06:24])
[08:10–14:37]
Combine last name of one celeb with first name of another to form a new celebrity’s name.
George (Wham) + Pollock = Michael Jackson ([09:08])
“All a competition.” ([09:30])
Jake (YouTuber/boxer) + Simon (reality judge) = Paul Simon
“I remember when I wrote it, I thought, huh, that’s better than the songs I usually write.” — Paul Simon (relayed by Moshe, [10:53])
Man (surrealist) + Charles (natural selection theorist) = Ray Charles
Diana (princess) + Ross (presidential hopeful) = Diana Ross
Celine (Titanic singer) + Warwick (Willow actor) = Dionne Warwick
Bonus Question:
In 1985, all these answer celebs participated in USA for Africa’s “We Are the World.”
“Bob Dylan...does an impression of Stevie Wonder doing an impression of Bob Dylan.” — Natasha ([15:08])
[16:51–23:38]
Guess two-word phrases where the last letter of the first word is the first letter of the second word (e.g., “snow White”).
Moshe jokes:
“You got seven out of eight questions. Now you’ve made it through the gauntlet of life as a couple. I apologize. Life ends now.” ([23:32])
[23:47–25:20]
Unscramble the shared linking letters from each answer to find a secret to a successful relationship:
Natasha swiftly solves it:
“I know what it is…Teamwork.” — Natasha ([25:19]) “Some people build their marriages on competition. Some people build it on teamwork. We’ll see who wins in the end.” — Elliott ([25:20])
Moshe jokes their family motto is:
“Teamwork makes the dream work. And communism is a good idea in theory.” ([25:40])
“We’ve heard this one before. Come to the table with something better next time.”—Moshe ([03:43])
“The game of our marriage is...it’s all a competition.”—Moshe ([09:30])
“Folk singers...Joni Mitchell, Carole King.”—Natasha ([06:14]) “And they don’t make folk singers anymore.”—Natasha ([06:11])
“Teamwork makes the dream work.”—Moshe ([25:40])
“You’re like Paul Simon. The answers are just coming to you.”—Elliott ([21:45])
“You got the right one, baby. Uh huh.”—Elliott & Moshe ([12:25])
“Today, Elliot, you joined our team, and I think you can agree it felt pretty good.”—Moshe ([26:48])
This episode blends fast-paced wordplay with authentic relationship banter. Listeners learn that the world of puzzles—like marriage—is best navigated with humor, acceptance of each other’s strengths and weaknesses, and a strong dose of “teamwork.” Amid jokes about family dynamics, pop culture history, and famous folk singers, Natasha and Moshe’s comedic chemistry shines, making even obscure word games feel warm and welcoming.

Listener’s Takeaway:
Even if you don’t ace every riddle, there’s a place for you at the table—as long as you bring a little teamwork (and maybe a Zen koan).
