Grady OH tells her story at the Intergroup Speaker Meeting held in Fresno California sometime in 1979. Grady has long been one of those speakers I always enjoy and there are a few more speaks by her on the podcast if you would like to hear more from her. Really good quality recording for 1979. Leslie J a very funny guy that carries a great message about learning to live the steps. "Is he gay or just european?" LGBTQ I heard Leslie speak at a conference up in Canada years ago and I have never laughed so hard in a speaker meeting. Sadly this is one of only a couple of speaks I have ever been able to find of his. If any of you have others you would be willing to share please email me. I thought this was an interesting idea for a meeting: Three Fellowships - First we have Lucy from Alateen followed by Steve from Alanon and then Bud M (sober in 1983) from AA. I dont know a lot about this meeting other than it was recorded sometime in June of 2011, somewhere in the UK. This speak was recorded in February of 2011 at Back to Basics in Huntsville and is Tom I telling his story. I am starting something a little different today. A while back an AA member (Kent) reached out to me regarding a collection of recordings by Tom I. Tom was sober over 65 years at the time of his passing and through the efforts of Kent, Tom's family and others a library of his speaks over the years was collected. Tom has long been a highly regarded speaker in AA, he has quite a story. Starting today and until we run through his library the podcast will be featuring a "Tom Tuesday". It seems appropriate to start with Tom telling his story. Tom I became sober at the age of 28, attending an AA meeting in a maximum-security prison. He had been sentenced there after he killed two teenagers during a blackout. While incarcerated, Tom became a passionate and active member of AA. Upon his release he dedicated his life to carrying the message of recovery to other inmates. He was the first former prisoner hired to work within the prison system. His journey eventually took him from prisoner to warden. Tom passed away in 2022 with over 65 years of sobriety. Father Bill W originally from Ireland and currently from La Jolla CA speaking in Hilton Head at the 11th Mid-Winter Conference held in 1990. He did a good bit of speaking in the 80's and from what I can garner he was 47 years sober at the time of this speak.
