Hey beautiful people. Welcome back to another episode of Social Media Decoded. And today's episode is extra special because we're not just talking about strategy. We're celebrating collaboration, community, and women who build things that make businesses easier for all of us. As many of you know, my event, Elevating the power is happening November 1st, and today I can officially say that it is sold out. Yes, we did that. And one of the incredible partners who has helped bring this vision to life is today's guest, the founder of ShinePages, Robin Newberry. And ShinePages is one of those tools that every woman entrepreneur needs in their ecosystem. It helps you build beautiful, functional websites, funnels and landing pages without the tech overwhelm. Because who has the time right? But today, we're going deeper. We're talking about the why behind Chime pages, but the story the lessons learned from building a brand for women and how community and visibility play a role in it all. So go ahead and grab your coffee or your matcha your tea. Take a deep breath because this is one that is going to inspire you to number one, Dream big, collaborate boldly and Build with intention. Robin, welcome to the show. I am so excited to have you.
Robin Newberry
Thank you so much, Michelle. That was so lovely. I am so excited to be here. Thank you. Yes.
Michelle Thames
Let's start with the origin story. Where did the idea for Shine Pages come from?
Robin Newberry
Well, it's funny, I was actually just speaking with somebody about this and I kind of feel like I should have the story of. Well, I was trying all these different tools and I was putting them together and it was a struggle for me. So then I figured out a solution and that's what I, you know, came up with. And it kind of is. It is that I did work on all sorts of different platforms. I've worked on kind of everything you can think of. WordPress and Kajabi and Entreport and Click Funnels and all of the things. But I think that his story actually goes back a little further. If you can indulge me a little bit, a few minutes of telling this story that it really comes down to. I was able. I was lucky enough to help a friend start and grow business. I quit my job in 1999 to help her start this custom handbag business, actually based in Chicago. Not sure if you're ever familiar with it, but it was, it was called 1154 Lil. You could make your own bag go into one of our stores. It was something where I got to be a part of this business that started off as an idea in her head. It started then we had a street fair. Then we grew to a little studio apartment that was open on appointments. And then it grew to be this thing that we had multiple storefront locations. We had a handbag party program across the United States. We were featured in magazines, on tv, with celebrities. It was this amazing journey. And it all comes back to the fact that I got to see this spark of an idea turn into something so real. And that whole journey was amazing. I did that for almost, I think it was almost 10 years. Then I was a stay at home mom for a while when our family moved across the country. I really craved working with entrepreneurs. So I started doing marketing consulting for other small business owners. And I found that what they really needed was so many of them needed help with their website or with their digital marketing, right? Their online, their attraction marketing, their landing pages, et cetera. So I was, I was. I was building for them on all these different platforms. But it really still always came back to I. If I could find a way to make it just easier. You know, a lot of people aren't techie, so if I Could, you know, if the tech could be easier and if I could take that away, if I could make it beautiful and easy, then more people could take their spark of an idea and like, get it out to the world. Like, I want more people to take that action because I know that when women have these sparks of that idea, it can literally change the world. Like, you can become, you light up inside when it's something that you are like passionate about, you're good at, you're smart at, you are whatever, you know, the thing that's inside of you to get that out to more people. I got to see it because my friend grew her dream into this real business and now I see women being able to do that all the time because they're able to take this thing and like, it just becomes more real when you have the, you know, ability to take payment for things, the ability to showcase a beautiful brand online, the ability to like, follow up with people having that, that ability, it just again, when you light up, it shines over into other people. It spills onto other people. They realize that they can do something that they want, are dreaming of. So I kind of feel it has this ripple effect in the world. So a little bit of a long story, but it's yes, I was building for other people on other businesses on other platforms, I should say. I was able to be connected with a software developer. I am not the developer or the coder, but I was able to partner with a great development team who put out this, this platform, started using it, started researching it, talked with the owner, loved what they were doing, was able to partner with them to create all of the tutorials, the templates that you can start with, the training and our support team. Again, all of those kind of things wrapped together, become this tool that is for non techie coaches, creators, service providers to help them take that action and like shine their beautiful light out to the world. So that is what Shine Creatures is.
Michelle Thames
And I love it. And that's a beautiful story and congratulations to your friend. I think that's so amazing. I'm going to look, I'm going to look that brand up and I think that's so cool and how you got started. And this is something that we all need, especially as women. And I know that and I love that Shawn Pages was created for women. And what does that mean to you personally as a founder?
Robin Newberry
I think that, like I said, I just feel like there is something kind of magic about women being empowered to follow their dreams because women are. We don't just do it for ourselves, right? Even when it is kind of, you're in it to make money, right? You're in it for the. The income. But women are also in it for the impact, right? They are in it to be able to impact their family, to make a difference. They're in it to impact their community. They're in it to like, transform other people's lives. I don't know anybody who is like that selfish. And all they wanted is for themselves. Women always want to bring it out to other people. I feel. And so I just feel so strongly that if we can help to again, make it easier, make it pretty, give support, it's just going to make this again, ripple effect where more people are impacting the world. And I think more than ever right now in the world, we need women's voices to be strong, to put your voice out there, to put your talents out there, to put your knowledge, your education, the transformation that you can help others with. In the age of AI, in all of the things, it is the real lived experiences that you have, it is your humanness that makes you special. And I think we need that more than ever to be able to put out that special spark into the world and bring the communities together in a way that has that realness to it that's really so important.
Michelle Thames
I love that and I'm so glad we connected and you all. This is a visibility moment. I met Robyn through one of my friends who I met on social media, and she saw me at one of her events or I forgot how you said that you saw me on one of her. Or she was thinking about my.
Robin Newberry
She was talking about your event. Cause I think she's. Yeah. So Taylor is going to be. I don't even know Taylor that well, but I've just met her at an event before and follow her on social and she said she was coming to speak at your event and I noticed it was in Chicago and I'm in Chicago, so I was so excited to find you.
Michelle Thames
So, yeah, like, that's just to show how visibility in social media and being in the room and just collaborating and connecting really does help you when it comes to different opportunities. And so I love that. I love that your brand is all for women. And this is what really excites me because November 1st is going to be amazing if you are listening and you're going to be there. So excited for you because it's going to be a treat. So one thing that I know and that you did say is that a lot of women we're afraid to start, or we feel like we have to have it all together before we, you know, do that messy action. But what advice would you give to women who have this idea? It's really great, but they're afraid to just start it. What would you say to them?
Robin Newberry
Yeah, oh, my gosh, I know. And I know, too. Not only sometimes are you afraid to start it, but you also think that everything else needs to be in place and you need to be like, everything needs to be perfectly lined up. And I. I'm like that, too. I can, I can fall into that, too. But I feel like it is so important to take that imperfect action, take that messy step forward, even if it is starting with, you know, having one simple page that you launch. Maybe you don't need a full website right now. That's okay. Maybe you just need a simple landing page where you can start to say, here, here's who I am, here's what I do. Now, the reason for that is that social media is amazing. Like, obviously, you know this, like, it is such a visibility factor, but you don't own that audience, right? And so to be able to own your own little piece of the Internet, right, you have. You put your stake in the ground, say, this is me. Buy a domain name, that's start number one. You know, simple, costs maybe 12 bucks a year, right? Buy that, and then with that domain name, you're going to connect it and have one simple page that has beautiful picture of you, talks about what you do, and maybe has a little form where you can say, hey, you know, join my newsletter or join my mailing list. I'll let you know when I go live, or I'm going to let you know when I have something to go. So if you have nothing started yet, you can always start with that. Put your stake in the ground, say that you're going to do it, and start to collect some of your own emails, and that's going to be able to kind of get you started with that foundation. It's always better to take an imperfect, messy step forward than, you know, not start at all. And I also want to encourage people to know that you can. A website's never done, so you're never going to be at a bad place like you always are going to be upgrading and improving and adding to and changing and things a website's never finished, right? So never be scared to just start with something, because everybody changes their website over time anyway, so there's no harm in starting out with something and then kind of growing over Time.
Michelle Thames
Absolutely. Absolutely. Oh, this is. This is so good, you all. I am so excited for you all to experience Shine pages. And I hope you stay tuned to the end because I definitely will let you know how you can make all of your things in your business easy too, because you're right. Right. There's always going to be something that needs to be changed and it can be so easy to do that. And so I know that we connected because of our shared vision. So I love collaboration. I believe in collaboration over competition and empowering women entrepreneurs as I know an area that we both very well connect on to show up and Shine. You see how I did that? I really love that. What made you say yes to partnering with Elevate, Empower Live?
Robin Newberry
Well, I loved. I mean, I just love the name. I mean, elevate into power. Okay. That's amazing. When I saw you and I got to talk to you, I just felt like we did share that same vision. Like we wanted to be a part of it. And it's in my hometown. We were talking before. For some reason, there are a number of different entrepreneurial kind of groups or communities or networks that I'm a part of. And for some reason, none of them are in Chicago. I was so excited to find out that you are here as well. Because I, I want to see more community of entrepreneurial women here. And so anything I can do to support that, support somebody who's doing it, who has been doing it for years now. I wanted, I wanted to be a part of it. I just was like, yes, count me in. It sounds amazing. I love the speakers that you have. I'm very excited to hear from them. I'm excited to meet the women. There's already a. A great text group like chat going attendees, so it's been fun to just see who's. Who's chiming in. And I just think it's going to be a really amazing event. I'm excited.
Michelle Thames
Yes, we are excited too. And yes, more events in Chicago. So if you are listening and you are a woman, entrepreneur, career, professional, you already know there are going to be so many more events in 2026. And so make sure you stay tuned. You can always join my events. So I know we both love communities as well. So from your perspective, why is community collaboration, like, so powerful for growth for both brands and for individuals?
Robin Newberry
Yeah, well, I mean, you. I mean, you just. You can't do it in a vacuum and you can't do it alone. Like it really is. I mean, just talking about how we got connected like, it is like, you find the influence of others to be so much more powerful than, you know, anything else, any other type of advertising or marketing. When you hear about it from somebody that you look up to, that you know, that you trust. So when you can get into a group of people where you all have a similar, like, you're all working on something like the same, like, you're all kind of in that same thing of, like, we are all looking to improve, we're all looking to uplevel, we're all looking to, you know, do that thing. It just. It just raises the vibration. I think I kind of believe in energy and vibration, and it really does help to. I mean, that's the phrase, right? You're. You are the. What is it the thing of the five people that you surround yourself most with? Like, what? I can't think of the exact phrase.
Michelle Thames
Now, but company you keep.
Robin Newberry
Yeah, it's the company you keep. I mean, it. My whole business has been grown through collaboration, through networking, through working with coaches who've recommended Shine pages to their clients. And it really is like, I feel like if you're just a. If you're just a good person and you show up as you are and you're in of service to others and you want to see others succeed and you want to see others help, and then everybody else is kind of in the same boat, like, that's, again, what women do really well. I think we just really all, like, want to help each other out, want to support each other, want to clap for each other. We're like, you know, the people in the bathroom, they're like, you got a little lipstick on your teeth, you want to change, you know, like, so, like, we're all there to, like, help each other out. And that, that basic nature, I think, comes into play in the business world as well, because we all want to just help each other out. So I think the more you are conn with people, the more your business will grow.
Michelle Thames
Absolutely. And I've seen that happen tenfold this year. And so I am really excited. And so I'm so excited to have you at the event. So what do you hope attendees will take away from being introduced to ShinePages?
Robin Newberry
Ooh, that's a good question. Well, again, I hope that people who might be either starting out and looking to build their online kind of hub or their online home will know it exists, that will understand that shinepage pages as an option. I also hope that people that might be struggling right now with using all the different platforms. Right. I Think when you are at a stage where you're ready to kind of level up your business, that's also a stage where you need to maybe look at your software. Maybe instead of having your website on one platform and your calendar on another platform and your emails on another platform and your, you know, landing pages on another platform and your checkout and you're sending people stripe links and you're sending people Google form links and maybe that's a lot, right? It's a lot. It can be, it can be a little hectic, it can be a little crazy, it can be expensive because you're adding up all those different softwares. If you are at a stage where you're ready to uplevel, it might also be a chance for you to uplevel your software at the same time that you're like simplifying and streamlining things. So that would be my goal, that people kind of understand that you don't have to have all these different duct taped together software pieces to run your business in the back end. It doesn't have to be a big mess in the background. It can be simplified stream and still allow you to kind of scale up and grow.
Michelle Thames
I love it. I love it. And you all, I am excited because I'm gonna kind of give you a surprise, but I am definitely going to be moving everything that I'm doing over to Shine Pages and so you definitely. Yes, we're having a little party here. You will be able to be a part of this because of course, you know, I will have an affiliate link. So make sure you check down below in the show notes. If you can't make it to Elevating Empower Live to hear all about it, you can definitely still check out Shine Pages. And so I know you have a 14 day free trial and so make sure you check that out in the show notes below. But before we head out, I would love to hear what is next for Shine Pages. Any upcoming features, projects or expansions that you're super excited about?
Robin Newberry
Hmm, yes, thank you. Well, we just rolled out some brand new features which I'm excited about. Which again, kind of going into the community aspect, it is really this community and engagement tools, new video tools, so some cool new features that are part of the platform. But I'm also kind of working on some really targeted, I'm calling them kits right now, not sure exactly what we're going to end up calling them, but really focused and targeted for people who are, you know, like a retreat launch kit. Right. Or a mastermind launch Kit or a, you know, three day challenge launch kit. Right. To be able to give you kind of all the tools you need, the templates kind of already created, the emails already in there, the tags already set up, the automation's already set up. You have everything you kind of need to have in one place. You can do all that yourself with Shine Pages, pulling all the pieces together yourself. But these will kind of be a little bit more pre baked, I guess. Right. And all the things kind of a little bit more done. So those are something that I'm working on right now that I'm excited about.
Michelle Thames
It's really exciting. All of those things I can definitely use. Especially when you said that Challenge kit. Oh my goodness. I love challenges. So you all, this has been such a great episode. I am so excited about elevating Empower Live. I'm so excited for having you on the show today. Robin, thank you so much for sharing your brilliance, your transparency and your mission. And like Shine Pages, it definitely, you know, aligns with you. I feel like it's a breath of fresh air when you go on the website. It's bright, it's airy, it's feminine. I love it. And so it really fits everything that we talked about here today. So if you are not already using Shine Pages, go ahead and check them out. It is one of those tools that truly helps you show up professionally without the stress. Right. We don't have time for stress and burnout. And going into 2026, we still have time. We're in Q4, it's still early. You can still take the reins and get everything structured and streamlined so that you go into 2026 with a new plan and less stress when it comes to your systems. And most importantly, I'm so excited because this partnership is proof that collaboration over competition is how we all will win. And if you love today's episode, go ahead and take a screenshot. Tag me ichellellthames and shinepages and tell us your biggest takeaway until next time. Keep showing up, keep shining and keep building the life and brand that you deserve. I will talk to you all in the next one. Peace.
Robin Newberry
Thanks, Michelle.
