And because I believe in making things easier for you, I've got something special. A free content planner designed to help you map out your entire year. Now, I'll tell you more about how you can grab that later, so stay tuned. All right, let's get into it. And starting with the basics, why does content planning even matter? Can't you just post as you go? Well, here's the thing. Winging it might work for a while, but it's not something that's sustainable and it doesn't drive results. Content planning matters because it gives you clarity and direction. Instead of wondering what to post every day, you're focused on creating content that aligns with your goals and speaks directly to your audience. It saves time, reduces stress, and makes your marketing feel more intentional and less chaotic. Think of it like building a house. You wouldn't Just start throwing bricks together, Right? You'd have a blueprint, a plan. Content planning is your blueprint for success in 2025. So how do you simplify the content planning process? Right, it starts with breaking it down into manageable steps. And I'm going to walk you through it. Okay, let's simplify your content planning process. Step 1 Set clear goals before you create any content, here's what I need you to do. I need you to know your goals. What do you want to achieve in 2025? Is it growing your audience? Is it driving more leads? Launching a new product? Your content should serve as the bridge between where you are now and where you want to be. For example, if your goal is to grow your email list, your content should include lead magnets, call to action, and value packed posts that drive signups. Everything you post should tie back to that goal. Period. Okay, know your audience. Next, let's get crystal clear on who you're talking to. What are their pain points? Why are they searching online? What are they searching for? What kind of content do they love consuming? The better you know your audience, the easier it will be for you to create content that resonates. For instance, if your audiences overwhelm, entrepreneurs, create content that simplifies their lives. Like checklists, how to's motivational posts speak to their challenges and offer solutions. Then, once you know your goals and your audience. Now, my friend, it's time to choose your content pillars. Now, these are the core themes that your content will revolve around. Think of them as the foundation of your strategy. For example, my content pillars are social media strategy and marketing strategy, business growth, and personal branding. Everything I post ties back to one of these areas. It keeps my content focused and ensures that I'm delivering value consistently. So now that we've simplified the process, friend, let's talk about building a content calendar. A content calendar is like your personal assistant. It keeps you organized and ensures that you're showing up consistently. Now, I like to plan monthly. Now think about planning monthly themes. Start by assessing a theme each month. For example, January could focus on goal setting, February could focus on relationship building, and March could be growing your audience. Themes help you stay focused and ensure your content feels cohesive. Then map out your weekly content. Once you have your monthly themes, break them down into weekly topics. For example, if January's theme is goal setting, one week could be about setting personal goals, another could be about business goals, and another could be about staying consistent. This makes the planning process feel a little less overwhelming. Finally, batch your content Creation. Yes, friend, we batch content over here. Still now not 12 weeks out, right? No, I'm not talking about that. But dedicate a day or two each month to create all your post captions and graphics for that month at least, or the next two to three weeks. Then use scheduling tools like later or Planoly to automate your posting. This not only saves you time, but it also ensures that you're consistent even when your life gets super busy. Now, I know you know how life can get busy and this is why I have a free Content Planner. If you DM me on IG Content Planner, you will get this free download or you can click the link down below in the show notes. Okay, this planner is designed to help you map out your content, your goals, and show up consistently without overwhelm. So head down to the link in the show notes to start planning 2025 with clarity and confidence. All right, I always got you. Now here's one of the biggest mistakes I see friendly we have to align our content with our offers. One of the biggest mistakes I see people make is creating content that doesn't align with their offers. Your content should always tie back to your audience toward the next step, right? It should guide them to the next step, whether that's joining your email list, booking a call, or purchasing a product. For example, if you're launching a course in March, you your January and February content should warm them up. It should share tips, address common objections, and position yourself as the go to expert in that area. By the time your course launches, your audience is primed and ready to buy. Every post, story and reel should have a purpose. Ask yourself, what do I want my audience to do after seeing this? If the answer isn't clear first, friend, I need you to rethink your strategy. And that's on. Period. Okay, rethink your strategy, because if you cannot answer that question, then we gotta start over. All right, let's recap. Content planning doesn't have to be complicated. It does not have to be complicated. Start by setting clear goals, knowing your audience, and then choosing your content pillars. Then we can go create a content calendar with monthly themes, weekly topics, schedule posts, and finally, make sure every piece of content aligns with your offers and moves your audience closer to taking action. Michelle begins by addressing a common question: Why is content planning necessary? At [01:13], she emphasizes that while improvisational posting might yield temporary results, it lacks sustainability and fails to drive meaningful outcomes. She states:
“Content planning matters because it gives you clarity and direction. Instead of wondering what to post every day, you're focused on creating content that aligns with your goals and speaks directly to your audience.”

By planning content, you save time, reduce stress, and make your marketing efforts more intentional and less chaotic. Michelle likens content planning to having a blueprint for building a house, ensuring a structured path to success.
Michelle outlines a step-by-step approach to simplify the content planning process for 2025:
At [03:10], Michelle stresses the importance of defining what you aim to achieve in the coming year. Whether it's growing your audience, driving more leads, or launching a new product, your content should act as a bridge between your current state and your desired objectives.
“Your content should serve as the bridge between where you are now and where you want to be.”
— Michelle Thames [03:25]
Example: If your goal is to expand your email list, incorporate lead magnets, compelling calls to action, and value-packed posts that encourage sign-ups.
Understanding your audience is crucial. At [04:05], Michelle advises getting clear on who you're communicating with, their pain points, their online search behaviors, and the type of content they engage with most.
“The better you know your audience, the easier it will be for you to create content that resonates.”
— Michelle Thames [04:20]
Example: For overwhelmed entrepreneurs, create content that simplifies their lives, such as checklists, how-to guides, and motivational posts that address their challenges and offer solutions.
Content pillars are the core themes around which your content revolves. At [05:00], Michelle explains that selecting these pillars ensures consistency and focus in your content strategy.
“Think of them as the foundation of your strategy. Everything I post ties back to one of these areas.”
— Michelle Thames [05:15]
Example: Michelle's content pillars include social media strategy, marketing strategy, business growth, and personal branding.
A content calendar acts as your organizational tool, ensuring consistent and timely content delivery. At [06:10], Michelle recommends planning monthly themes to maintain focus and cohesiveness.
“A content calendar is like your personal assistant. It keeps you organized and ensures that you're showing up consistently.”
— Michelle Thames [06:25]

At [07:35], she emphasizes that every piece of content should guide your audience toward taking the next step, whether that's joining an email list, booking a call, or purchasing a product.
“Every post, story, and reel should have a purpose. Ask yourself, what do I want my audience to do after seeing this?”
