Welcome back to Social Media Decoded. I'm your host, Michelle Thames, and today we're talking about something timely for me, how I prepare for conferences. I've got Bloom and Grow Live coming up this week in Nashville, and events like this are such a game changer for visibility. Whether you're going to a big summit, a local networking event, or even my elevated Empower Live in November, the way that you prepare can make or break your experience. So I want to share today all about how I prep for conferences. So grab your notepads and your pens, let's get into it. The first thing I want to chat about is why conferences matter. Conferences are where visibility accelerates. Online presence is powerful, but nothing replaces shaking hands, sharing energy and being remembered in real life. Every conference I attend has opened doors to collaborations, clients and ideas. I couldn't have gotten scrolling Instagram, so I want to talk about how I prep. Here is my step by step system. The first thing is I get clear on my goals. I decide, am I here for networking content, ideas or partnerships? Sometimes it's all of those. For Bloom and Grow Live, my focus is connections and visibility. The second thing is elevator pitch refresh. You need a one liner about who you are and who you help people remember clarity not complexity. And then your content plan. I map out my Instagram stories, my reels, even what pictures I want and guess what I use. Good old trusty chatty GPT conferences are content gold mines if you plan ahead and you know I'm a strategic planner follow up strategy Before I even get on the plane, I know how I will stay connected and that's usually through DM's emails or quick coffee chats. Here are some tips that you can take away with you the next time you are going to an in person event. Do not just collect business cards, collect conversations, document the room and take photos, share takeaways and tag people. Block off 30 minutes each evening to follow up while the conversation is still warm. These tips alone can turn one conference into six months of visibility and momentum. If you love these tips, you will definitely love the energy of Elevated empowered live this November 1, 2025 in Chicago. This isn't just another event, it's where we talk about strategy and where women entrepreneurs walk away with real plans to grow their visibility and income. Tickets are still available and trust me, you'll want to be in that room. Go ahead and DM me the word elevate to learn more. Thank you so much for listening to today's episode. I hope that you got some tips to help you with your next in person event that you attend. I will talk to you in the next one. Peace.
