Sarah
Hey, this is Sarah. Look, I'm standing out front of a.m. p.m. Right now and, well, you're sweet and all, but I found something more fulfilling, even kind of cheesy. But I like it. Sure, you met some of my dietary needs, but they've just got it all. So farewell. Oatmeal. So long, you strange soggy.

Michelle Thames
Hey, hey, y'. All. Welcome back to another episode of Social Media Decoded. It's your girl, Michelle Thames, marketing strategist, visibility coach, community builder, and somebody who's been in these digital streets for 16 years. And today I'm giving you something I have never talked about at this level before. If I lost it all tomorrow, no followers, no brand, no contracts, no platform, no credibility, here's exactly how I would rebuild all of it in 2026.
And I'm telling you right now, these are the exact steps I teach at my retreats and VIP days. This is the blueprint that would save you years of wasted time, energy and confusion. So lean in. You already know. Grab your pens and your notepads. Let's get into it. The truth about 2026. Let me be real. 2026 is not the year to be playing small on the Internet. Not with the way AI is moving. Not with how fast creators are building brands, not with how corporations are using personal brands to drive trust. The landscape has changed. It's not who posts the most. It's not who has the most followers. It's who. Who built community, who built trust, who built visibility that actually leads somewhere. I've seen the inside of over 100 plus brands. I've worked with startups, influencers, corporate teams, nonprofits, CEOs. I've seen what works and what collapses. If I was starting over in 2026, knowing what I know today, I would do everything differently. Step one is community first, not content. Hear me loud and clear. I would not start with content. I would start with community. Building email list, building conversations, relationship equity. Why? Because content without community is noise. You can go viral with no strategy and be broke. But if you start by building a base even with 50 people who trust you, like you, and are on your email list or DM list, you can rebuild anything. If I was starting over, I would start a weekly email even with five subscribers. Start a small community touch point like a monthly call. Start replying to 20 people a day. Start having conversations before selling anything. Because community is the foundation of visibility. And some of us learn this the hard way. Step 2 Master one platform if I was starting over in 2026, I would pick one platform and go all in. Not five. Not everything at once. Not team Overwhelm. I would pick one place, probably Instagram or LinkedIn, and I would master it. Because here's the truth. Most of us are stressed because not because the platforms are hard, but because you're trying to grow six platforms with the energy of one one platform mastered over six platforms halfway done. I take that any day. Once I master one platform, I use it to drive traffic to everything else. This is why my clients get results, because I help them focus.

Step three I lean into my story sooner if I started over in 2026, I'd be way more honest. I'd be way more transparent. I'd be way more me. I would show the mom journey, being fired, building from scratch, working with my husbands, the wins, the L's, the messy middle. Because this is what converts followers into clients. Not perfection, not aesthetics, not trendy audios. It is your story, your truth, your humanity. Your personal brand is your niche. Visibility is way better than virality and connection over content volume any time of the day. Step number four I get help sooner. I will be honest. If I had gotten help sooner, I would have been further along, way faster. A coach, a strategist, someone who would see the gaps, stop me from overthinking, fix my visibility strategy, build offers with me, hold me accountable, build a real content system. This is what changed everything for me. This is why I created my retreats. This is why I created my VIP days. Because sometimes you just need someone to sit down with you and to say, here's what you're missing, here's how you can fix it, and here's what you need to do next. If I was starting over, I would invest sooner. If this episode hit you, if it made you think, if you felt that little tug in your spirit, it might be time for you to stop building alone. My 2026 retreat happening in Chicago, Oakbrook, Illinois actually is where we build your whole 2026 plan in the room. It's intimate, powerful, and unlike anything else out there. And if you want my eyes on your brand privately, I have VIP days open for Q1. Either way, let's make 2026 the year that you finally step into the visibility that you've been avoiding. I can't wait to talk to you in the next episode.
