Welcome back to Social Media Decoded, the podcast that helps entrepreneurs get visible, build authority and attract high ticket clients. I'm your host Michelle Thames and today is a special episode because y', all I'm recording live from the Go Getter Conference in Dallas, Texas literally right now in my room in my room recording this podcast. And I am so excited because this room is filled with powerhouse women entrepreneurs and the energy is unmatched. And guess what? I am not here just attending. I just got done speaking today. Today was the day that I spoke. I spoke at 10:30 and I will share more about that in a moment. But I want to bring you along with me to share some of my biggest visibility insights straight from this event. You all know that I have talked about it before about getting in the room. I believe that that is true especially in 2025. Getting in the room and being intentional with connecting people. You know I love social media, but social media alone can only take you so far. I think and I know that we are in a place where you connecting with people in person matters more than social media. I think social media is like going to be an after effect of you getting in the room, connecting with someone. Then you all follow each other on social media, but because they met you in person, that connection is stronger to me. So I know I talk about online visibility and yes it's powerful, but being in the room changes everything. Online you can post and engage and build trust over time but in person collaborations, partnerships and even new clients can happen in lightning speed. And let me tell you, I know you all have been listening to this episode. Go back and listen to the episode with Taylor Smith. Remember when I told you I met her on threads and I attended her Power Table Live conference in Florida in April. Since then I have done about 15 coffee chats, 20 plus collaborations, got opportunities to speak on more stages. Those people have become attendees of my events. Treats all the things just by me being intentional and showing up in the room and genuinely building relationships. It has to go back to that, right. You can't be out here being all for self and saying, yeah, I'm putting myself in the room, I'm gonna connect with these people. And it's just about you. When you build genuine connection, things happen, good things happen. So be genuine about your connections that you're building. But it happens in lightning speed. And that's what happened when I attended the Power Table Live conference in April of 2025. It is now September and I'm still reaping the benefits of being in the room. People remember me, they remember the energy, the conversations, the connections. And that's what builds authority faster than any algorithm ever could. If you're still complain about the algorithm, then just get in the room. Right? And then the next thing is, oh, well, I don't have the money to get in the room. I understand, right. But there are ways that you can get into the room and make it an affordable investment for you. Right. So just be intentional and I guarantee you that it can work. The room can be a $25 room. Right. If you go to like a networking event, you gotta make it work for you. Right? Right. So this morning I was so excited to be in the room. There was a speaker speaking about sponsorships and I just felt that it was so connected because my husband had just recently just, you know, poured into me and saying, Michelle, you are a connector and you should definitely tap more into sponsorships for your event. So I'm really grateful to say that for my November event, I have eight amazing sponsors already on board for this event. And some of them are monetary sponsors and some of them are in kind partnership sponsors. But I'm really grateful that I'm being intentional. So the woman was talking about sponsorships and I'm really grateful. And it hit me, you know, I realized that some of the biggest shifts don't come from scrolling because I would have never got this information or got the connection or the reminder that I needed if I was at home. But sitting in the right room, I was open to receive her message. That's why I make it non negotiable to get myself in spaces like this. And speaking of being in the room, let's talk about what it's like to be on stage now. I'll be honest with you, I do still get butterflies before speaking. Go ahead and head over to my Instagram Michelle lthames Just to see some behind the scenes of me speaking today, y', all, I'm posting this podcast. I wanted to do this intentionally. I know you're like Michelle, you usually post your podcast at 6am or around the morning time. But I wanted to be super intentional and record this in real time. So I am literally in Dallas, y'. All. And if you, if you're listening to this today when I post some of you have those notifications on where you know it goes to your phone and you see boop. Social media decoded. Got a new episode. Go to my Instagram right now. Michelle lthaymes DM me and let's talk. I shared some of this morning with you, some behind the stage of me preparing but I still get butterflies. But the reason I said yes this opportunity and Candice Shanae is one of my really good friends. I met her on Clubhouse. If you listen in, you know Clubhouse is real back in the day. I'm sure it's still going on, but I'm not on Clubhouse anymore like I used to be. But I met Candice Shanae on Clubhouse and we hit it off. She was from Chicago, she recently moved to Dallas, but we just hit it off really great. I've spoken at her events. She's spoken at my event. She's speaking at my upcoming November conference happening in Chicago. Elevating Empower Live 11-01-125. She's speaking at my event too. But speaking puts you in a different category. When you're a speaker. You're not just another entrepreneur people happen to follow on Instagram. You're the expert that they come to learn from. And so I really love speaking. It instantly elevates your authority no matter what. Before I went on stage today, I thought about 30 year old me who got fired and never imagined being on this type of stage and to be able to stand in front of a room full of powerful women and pour into them. It's just always a full circle moment for me anytime I get a chance to step on a stage. If you've been waiting for a sign to pitch yourself for a speaking engagement or say yes the next time an opportunity comes, this is your moment. Your authority grows the moment that you put yourself in the spotlight. Now let me share my top three visibility lessons I'm taking away from Go Getter conference so far. The first one is being in the right room accelerates authority. You can't just build online and stay home. The growth really multiplies when you show up in person. Collaboration beats competition. In the conversations I've had here, it's all been about how can we best support each other, not compete. That is where long term partnerships are born. And the third thing is visibility is about being seen and remembered offline and online. You want people to walk away saying, I met Michelle and here's how she added value to me today. That's what sticks. And let me tell you a quick story. Earlier in the hallway, I was chatting with an attendee who I just met and we actually had met online. We had been a part of the same webinar. And that little five minute exchange like it reminded me that sometimes the most powerful visibility moments aren't even on the stage. They're in the conversations you have between the sessions. And if you're not ready for events yet, if you, you know, you're like, michelle, I love you, but I can't come to your November 1st event in Chicago. Go ahead and start with my free 7 day visibility audio series. That's your first step to building the authority that gets you into rooms like this. I hope you enjoyed this episode. I hope you enjoyed the new things that I'm doing on Social Media Decoded. If you love this episode, go ahead and press that subscribe button. If you're listening on Spotify, don't do me like that. Until next time, I'm signing off from the Go Getter conference, but the visibility lessons continue. I will talk to y' all in the next one.
