Michelle Thames
This is Michelle Thames and you're listening to Social Media Decoded, the podcast where we break down what actually works in visibility, marketing and brand building without tracing trends or burning yourself out. And today's episode might step on a few toes, but in the best way. Because I keep hearing people say webinars are dead, lives don't convert anymore, events don't work like they used to. And and I'm here to tell you that is not true. Webinars and live events are not dead. What is dead is the way most people are doing them. So today I want to break down why live experiences still convert better than almost anything else. What actually kills conversions before you even go live, and the mindset shift that turns rooms into trust and trust into action. Get your pens and your notepads ready because gems are about to be dropped. Dropped. Why live events still work? Let's start here. Live experiences work because people buy from people they trust. Not brands, not aesthetics, not perfectly curated feeds. People. When someone shows up live on a webinar, a call, an event, a room, they're not consuming content. They're opting into proximity. And proximity accelerates trust. Here's what live experiences do that content alone can't. They collapse time. They create emotional connection. They remove doubt faster than any post ever could. A live room lets someone think, oh she's what she talking about? I feel seen. I trust her. That's why live experiences still convert when done correctly. What's actually killing conversions? Now let's talk about why people think lives and webinars don't work anymore. Because most people are making the same mistake. Mistake number one, treating lives like content instead of connection. They show up and teach. They give information. They run slides. But they don't create connection. People don't convert because they learn something. They convert because they felt something. Mistake number two, no pre work. You can't go live cold and expect warm results. It just doesn't work like that. Conversion starts before the room opens. The messaging, the positioning, the relationship that you've already built. If people don't know why they're there, they will not take action. Mistake number three, no clear step. So many lives end with thanks for coming and that's it. If you don't tell people what to do next, they will not do anything. Clarity converts. Confusion kills momentum. My conversion mindset rooms trust, then action. This is the mindset shift that changed everything for me. I don't host lives to perform. I don't host lives to impress. I host experiences to move people one step closer to trust. Rooms build trust. Trust creates readiness. Readiness leads to action. Not everyone is meant to buy today, but everyone should leave clearer than they came in. That's why my lives and events are designed to make people feel safe. Make the next step obvious, make the decision clearer. This is why small, intentional rooms often convert better than massive audiences. Because depth beats reach every single time. Quick pause. If you're listening to this and realizing I need help turning my visibility into an actual plan, that's exactly why I built the collective. The collective is your place that becomes ongoing proximity, feedback, strategy, support. And if you want visibility that actually leads somewhere, you you'll find the links below in the show notes. All right, back to it. What to do differently moving forward. If you're planning a webinar, a live or an event, here's what I want you to focus on. Instead of the tactics, ask yourself, what do I want people to feel by the end? What decision do I want them to make easier? What's the one next step that makes sense? You don't need more slides, more. More trainings, more information. You need clear positioning, an intentional message. A room designed for trust. And that's how live experiences work in 2026 and beyond. So let me leave you with this. Webinars aren't dead. Lives aren't dead. Events aren't dead. Disconnection strategy is if you want help building live experiences that actually convert, not just a track, start with a visibility Power hour with me or join the collective. And if this episode shifted how you think about visibility, share it. Tag me and let me know where you're listening from. This is Michelle Thames and you've been listening to social media Decoded. I'll talk to y' all in the next one. Peace.
