Welcome back to Social Media Decoded, the podcast where we break down the real strategies that actually help you grow your business online. I'm your host Michelle Thames, Marketing Strategist, Coach and your guide to get invisible and monetizing your brilliance without burning out. Today's episode we're talking about one of the biggest myths that holds entrepreneurs back. The Perfect niche. If you've been stressing out about nailing down your exact niche before you start creating content, or if you've been second guessing yourself every time you post, this one is for you. By the end of this episode you'll see why the perfect niche isn't the answer and what actually matters when it comes to building a business that attract clients, opportunities and visibility. The Myth of the Perfect Niche now let's be real. The online space has made niching down sound like the holy Grail. They'll say if you don't have a crystal clear niche, no one will buy from you. If you talk about more than one thing, you'll confuse people or pick one lane and stand in lane forever. Sound familiar? Here's the truth. Waiting until you have the perfect niche is just procrastination disguised as strategy. It's a comfort zone. It's you telling yourself you're not ready yet, when in reality the only way to clarify your niche is by taking action and creating. The market moves too fast for perfection. What worked as a niche five years ago may not even exist today. So instead of obsessing over getting it perfect, focus on what actually matters. Clarity, consistency and connection. Now let's talk about what actually matters. Here's what actually matters to move the needle. Clarity in your message. You don't need a perfect niche, but you do need a clear message. Example instead of I do marketing for entrepreneurs, shift to I help women entrepreneurs get visible online and attract clients through simple marketing strategies. People buy clarity, not confusion. Number two Consistency in your content. The reason most people feel like they don't have a niche? They're inconsistent. If you posted about your core message 90 days straight, your audience will instantly know what you're all about. Consistency creates authority. Authority builds trust. The best niche, the one that creates trust with real people. Show your story. Share behind the scenes. Create conversations. That's what builds community. That buys from you, refers you and shows up for you. So when someone asks what's your niche? You don't have to panic. Focus instead on what's my message? How am I showing up consistently? How? How am I connecting with my people? Those matter way more than a perfect one line niche statement. When I first started, my niche wasn't perfect. I was talking about blogging, beauty, social media, side hustles, all the things. Guess what? That's exactly how I figured out what I loved and what my audience wanted from me. Fast forward and here I am with a top podcast, multiple businesses, and speaking on big stages. Not because I had the perfect niche from day one, but because I showed up, consistently, refined my message along the way, and built real connections with my audience. If I had waited until my niche was perfect, I would not be here today, my friend. So let's ditch the myth of the perfect niche. It's not about being perfectly defined. It's about being consistently visible with a clear message that connects with your people. Here's your action step. Write down one core message you want to be known for and commit to creating content around it for the next 30 days. That's how you build clarity, not by sitting on the sidelines. And if you want help showing up consistently and getting visible without overthinking your niche, go ahead and grab my free seven day Visibility audio series. The link is in the show notes. It's designed to help you stop spinning your wheels and and start building the audience you deserve. Until next time, keep shining online. I will talk to you in the next one. Peace.
