Hey everyone. Welcome back to the podcast. If you're new here, welcome to Social Media Decoded, the show where we talk about visibility, building authority, and turning your expertise into opportunities. I'm your host, Michelle Thames, and today's episode is a little bit different because I want to talk about something that has been on my mind for a while. This episode is really about the direction of this podcast and the direction of my work because for a long time, people have known me as someone who teaches social media strategy, marketing, and how to grow online. And yes, social media is still incredibly powerful. But over the years, I've realized something that I think a lot of entrepreneurs misunderstand. Visibility is bigger than social media. It's bigger than posting, it's bigger than content calendars, and it's even bigger than the algorithm. Visibility is really about opportunity, and opportunity almost always comes from people and proximity. So moving forward on this podcast, yes, we will still talk about social media, but we're also going to talk about something that I think matters even more, and that is how to become visible, how to build real relationships, and how to turn that visibility into opportunities, because that is where the real growth happens. All right, so we're going to start a new segment on the show called Visibility Breakdown. This is where we look at how someone became visible and what we can learn from it. And today I want to talk about something that I see happening all the time and entrepreneurship. Most people believe visibility comes from content alone. They think that if they just post more, post better, post consistently, eventually people will discover them. But the truth is, most entrepreneurs who become well known didn't just grow through content. They grew through rooms. They grew through communities, conferences, partnerships, collaborations, speaking opportunities, and relationships. Let me give you a real example. Think about how many people you follow online. Now ask yourself this question. How many of those people did you discover through a piece of content? And how many did you discover because someone introduced you to them? Maybe they spoke On a panel. Maybe someone mentioned them in a room. Maybe they were a guest on a podcast. Maybe they collaborated with someone you already trusted. Visibility spreads through networks, not just algorithms. And this is why I believe entrepreneurs should spend just as much time thinking about who. Who they are around as they do thinking about what they post. Because the right room can change everything. The right conversation can lead to a collaboration. That collaboration can lead to new audiences, and those audiences can lead to opportunities you never planned for. So if you've been feeling stuck when it comes to visibility, I want you to ask yourself something. Not just what content should I post, but also what rooms should I be in? Because rooms create momentum. All right, let's move into another new segment that I am really excited to share about on the podcast. This segment is going to be called Room Series, and this is where I share real examples of what happens when people get into the right environments. Inside my community, I've seen something really powerful happen over and over again. Women meet inside the space, they start talking, they share ideas, and before long, they're collaborating. Recently, two members connected during one of our conversations. They started brainstorming ideas about their businesses and realized they had overlapping audiences. Instead of competing, they decided to collaborate. They planned an event together, they cross promoted each other, and both of them grew because of it. Now, here's the interesting part. That collaboration didn't come from an Instagram post. It didn't come from an ad. It came from a room, a space where people could actually talk, connect, and build relationships. And this is something I want more entrepreneurs to understand. Success doesn't happen in isolation. It happens in community. When you're around other people building things, opportunities start to appear, ideas get bigger, confidence grows, and suddenly things that felt impossible start to feel normal. That's the power of rooms. All right, now the third segment of these new segments on the podcast. I hope you're loving this. This one is called unpopular visibility. Truth and today's truth might make some people uncomfortable, but I think it needs to be said. Here it is. The algorithm is not your biggest problem. Isolation is. If we're honest, most people aren't invisible because of the algorithm. They're invisible because they're trying to grow alone. They're not networking, they're not collaborating. They're not putting themselves in rooms where people can discover them. Visibility expands when your name travels through conversations, when people recommend you, when people mention you, when people invite you into opportunities. That kind of visibility cannot be created by content alone. It comes from connection. So if you're listening to this and you've been frustrated with growth, don't just focus on posting more, focus on being around more people who are building things. So as we move forward with the podcast, this is the direction that we're going. Yes, we will talk about social media, but we're also going to talk about visibility, proximity, community, collaboration, and opportunity. Because that's where the real magic happens. And if you're a woman entrepreneur who wants more visibility and more opportunities, I want to personally invite you into my community. It's a space where entrepreneurs come together, support each other, collaborate, and build real relationships. Because I truly believe something powerful happens when the right people get into the same room. And if this resonates with you, you are exactly the type of person I built that space for.
