Michelle Thames
Hey, everyone, welcome back to the podcast. If you're new here, welcome to Social Media Decoded, where we talk about visibility strategy and how entrepreneurs turn content into real opportunities and income. I'm your host, Michelle Thames, and today's episode is a little different because I had a reel go viral overnight and instead of celebrating it, I studied it because viral content is data. It tells you what people care about, what. What makes them stop, what makes them engage, and more importantly, what makes them take action. So today I'm breaking down exactly why this video worked. And I'm talking about, this is in real time. Okay? This video is still growing in numbers, still growing in saves, shares, comments, and everything. So I am right in the middle of this. If you go to my Instagram right now, it is the latest video with cockadoodle. So let's talk about how you can use these same principles to grow your visibility and your business. Go ahead and get your pens and your notepads ready because gems are about to be dropped. All right, let's break this down. This is the visibility breakdown. Why this video went viral because it wasn't random. The first thing is the curiosity gap. The hook was, I've driven past this place for years. Immediately your brain goes, wait, what place? Why now? Is it good? That's what we call a curiosity gap. And curiosity is one of the strongest drivers of watch time. People stay because they want resolution number two, high save value. This is huge. This type of content makes people think, I need to remember this even if they're not local. Even if they don't go today, they save it. And saves are one of the strongest signals to Instagram right now because it tells the algorithm this content is useful. This content has value beyond the moment. And when that happens, Instagram pushes it out more. And that is exactly what happened. Last night, it was at, like, 9,000. When I woke up today, it was, like, at 15,000. So it's still in real time. Number three, the discovery format. Now, this is key. This wasn't just content. This was a discovery. People love hidden gems, local finds. You didn't know about this because it makes them feel like they're getting insider information. And that is exactly the recipe that I wanted to put together for this reel. So a little backstory is I had seen this. This business on my Facebook feed. Okay? On my Facebook feed. It kept popping up. And the first thing in my head was, oh, I've seen this place, but I don't really know what it is. I clicked, and then I learned about the place, and I said, oh, wow, I want to go visit that place. I wanted to go visit the place because of what they were sharing. I wanted to go visit the place because they told their story. And then since I'm doing this South Suburban Chicago series, I wanted that to be one of the first places. And I thought and put together a strategy for that. So the fourth thing is audio and authority using a microphone. I am using a mini mic in this video. And that is not random. It creates clarity, intentionality, and authority. When you look at this video, you instantly feel like, oh, she know what she doing. It's subtle, but it's very, very powerful. And the fifth thing is relatability. The setting was not perfect. We were outside on the farm. It wasn't overly produced. Not at all. We were, again, we're outside on a farm. And that is why it works. It feels real. It's like a friend telling you, girl, you got to go check this out. And that trust is everything. Okay, now what? Most people miss this. This is what we need to get into. Most people go viral, and then they move on. But that's a mistake, because going viral is not the goal. Leverage is the goal. So here's what I'm doing with this video. Number one, I'm turning it into a conversation. People are commenting, where is this? That's not annoying. That's opportunity. Because every reply increases my engagement. Number two, turning it into leads. Instead of just giving everything away, you can say, DM me a guide, and I'll Send it now. Your viral content becomes lead generation and relationship building number three, turning it into authority. This podcast episode, this is a part of the strategy. Because now I'm not just the person who posted a video. I'm the person who understands the strategy behind it. Now let's get into this room story. Let me connect this to something bigger, because this isn't just about one reel. This is about how visibility actually works. Someone sees your content, they engage, they follow, they listen to your podcast, they join your community, they attend an event, and they become a client. And it's never just one piece. It's the ecosystem. So here it is, the time for our unpopular truth. Viral content doesn't build businesses. Strategy does. You can go viral and still make no money. You can go viral and still get no clients, because if there's no pathway, there's no conversion. If this episode helped you see content differently and you're realizing, okay, I need more than just posting, I can help you with that. I offer strategy calls where we map out your visibility, your content, and how it actually leads to clients. And if you want to be in rooms where these conversations are happening in real time, I would love to invite you into my community. That's where visibility turns into real opportunities. Details are down below in the show notes. And if you enjoyed this episode, make sure you follow the podcast and leave a review. And if you're on Spotify, go ahead and answer the question for today. Thank you so much for being here, and I'll talk to you in the next episode. Peace. Oh, no, my coffee. Bronnie here.
