Dear citizens of Sophie Land, I will let you listen to the episode in approximately 60 seconds. But first I just want to let you know that my brand new show, I think some of this is my fault, will be going to the Edinburgh Fringe this August and then in November I'm taking it to Soho Theater in London. Then it's going on tour to Denmark, Copenhagen, Unser and Aarhus, Sweden, Melmurg and Stockholm. Then I'm going to Berlin, I'm going to Rotterdam. The UK dates have just come out which are Leicester, Sheffield, Selby, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Reading, Brighton, Cambridge, London and Exeter. Tickets can be found on sophie hagen.com link is in the show notes alongside the link for the Patreon or the substack. Because this podcast is self produced, meaning I do all of the stuff. I do the editing, the uploading, the booking of the guests, the interviews, every single effing thing. So your support means the whole world to me. So if you sign up for the Patreon or the substack, you will get extra fun bonus content and you get to support me. I really appreciate it. I really love you. Thank you so much for listening. Please enjoy this episode. Thank you. Hello, dear citizens of Sophie Land, I just thought that I would give you a little update because if you are a. I don't even know if you can call yourself a regular listener of this podcast because it has been irregular as to be honest with you, I started this podcast in January of this year. So what, five, six months ago? Five months ago. And I don't know if there's been a single regular thing about it, but I do want to, at the very least keep you updated on what's happening because I know it's been gone for a little bit and also it's been changing formats and blah blah, blah. So here's where we're at now. So obviously the reason it's changing is because it is completely self produced. And that means I'm doing all of the stuff. There was no big company making any of the decisions. Plowing. That's not the right word. Plowing money into it. Let's just use that. It is, after all, my second language and I'm speaking to you from Denmark. How impressive. It just means that everything's up to me and I'm doing all of it myself. And listen, when I started podcasting in 2014, 13, I think 13 so many years ago, oh, I had my little handheld recorder and it was all audio and I just would upload it to SoundCloud and then that was all I needed to do. I don't even know if there was social media where I could tell Twitter. Maybe we had Twitter where I could tell people about the podcast. And it was just the podcast and then like the audio and then Twitter and that was, that was the whole thing. And now. Oh my God. First of all, the episodes are now on YouTube. I have a camera, I'm filming the episodes which makes it, I'm not exaggerating, a thousand times harder, a thousand times more complicated. But it is also just what we have to do now. Right? That is just a thing. And I am trying to love it. And I, a part of me does love it. I do. I love watching podcasts now on video. I am really into it. I. Well, I was about to tell you which podcast. I'm not going to advertise other people's podcast on this. Why, why would I do that? That feels not, not smart. Anyways, it's Caleb Heron's podcast and a few Danish ones and I love it. I love, I'm. I play the Sims and then I watch the podcasts on my phone and I really enjoy that. So I like being able to provide that for you. So this podcast is now on YouTube. So it's from Sophie Hagen. Sophieland. I guess it's there. I guess it should be there. Question mark. I'm assuming you can find it. I think the first one that is on YouTube was the Crystal Evans one. Kim Blythe is on there. Aubrey Gordon episode is on there. And then from now on they should all be on YouTube, which also means they should be on Spotify, which I am not 100. Spotify is a tricky one. But in theory they should all eventually be on Spotify. I will figure that out. I mean they are there audio wise, but I mean like the videos. It also means that I'll be putting out clips from them, which again takes a million years to do. But the video aspect means that the podcast took a big unplanned break during the last two months when I was in Australia and New Zealand because hotel WI Fi first of all cannot upload 30 gigabytes of video. That was a battle, a two month long battle. And then my little tiny laptop can't edit 30 gigabytes worth of videos. And like it was what a nightmare. What a nightmare. But anyways, I'm back on, on land. I'm back on land. I'm back in Europe. I have a big old tough computer now that should be able to handle all of it. I've got regular Internet. Ish. So I've just edited and uploaded and made everything ready for the Lara Ricotta episode which will be out tomorrow. And from then on, what's going to happen is there will be a regular free normal podcast episode every other Tuesday, starting with tomorrow. So tomorrow you'll get a full free episode of me chatting to Laata. It's going out as audio and as video on YouTube and that's just going to be it. Hopefully forever. Forever. Every Tuesday. Every other Tuesday. Every other Tuesday you'll get a normal regular episode, period. Right. That's should be the concept for now at least and forever. Let's hope. We'll see. But at least right now that's the plan. Now I am then recording bonus episode bonus content with the guests as well, which will then come out every other Tuesday, the Tuesday where there is not a regular episode that will come out every other Tuesday, which will then be, if you listen to this on the day next Tuesday, not tomorrow, but next Tuesday. And that will then be Substack and Patreon only. So if you're a paid subscriber on Substack and Patreon, you will then get the extra bonus episode. And if I have done this correctly, it will then also be added. The audio for that will then also be added to your Patreon RSS feed if you want to listen to the audio of it. Yeah, we're all taking deep breaths because it's admin. It's not the most exciting thing in the world. Some might even say it's boring. But that's where we're at right now. If you're a paid subscriber, you get it's now a weekly podcast. If you are not, it's a bi weekly podcast. That is how we're going to do it. That's how we're doing it. Okay. Okay? She asks anxiously and begging beggingly. And then we'll see. I mean, I feel like the format keeps changing a little bit. It's kind of finding its feet. I want to make the special bonus content. I have a plan for that that I'm not quite sure of yet. So far it's just like I just chat for another 20 minutes with the guests, I ask them a few extra questions, but I feel like I want to make something of that so it becomes its own thing. But I haven't quite settled on it yet. I have some ideas. I have some ideas. We're figuring it out. And also I think in the beginning I would do these pre chat things like every episode was Sat with me just chatting at you for like a couple of minutes about, like, what's happening in my life and what's going on. I've stopped that because first of all, now that the episode is on is a video episode, I don't want to film myself doing these because again, it adds like so much extra to it. So what I'm going to do it. Well, what I have been doing and what I will continue to do is these video diaries that I will sometimes upload again on Substack or Patreon, where I just ramble for like 20 minutes to sometimes 40 minutes about what's happening in my life and what's going on. And they're not weekly, but they are sometimes monthly. And it's just me kind of letting you in and, you know, completely unedited. And those are filmed, by the way. I usually go to go to my car, drive somewhere and just record me chatting to the camera and then upload them. And it's just for you guys who, who are paid subscribers. So. So I'm gonna continue doing that, but then I won't do it in the beginning of each episode. So you just get to. You just get to go straight to me chatting to the guest after a brief, like 60 second advert. I don't like the word advert, but it's just me going, hi, guys, please buy tickets for my shows and please subscribe on Patreon. I feel like that's fine. You don't get those adverts if you're on YouTube. Because I feel like YouTube adds their own adverts into it. Unless you're a YouTube Premium subscriber, which of course means you shouldn't get any adverts at all. Guys, what is happening with the world? What's going on? What is actually going on with the world? How things have changed since 2013. I am tempted on a daily basis to just go back to my handheld little recorder and Soundcloud and twit. Well, not Twitter. Who's ever attempted to go on Twitter ever? Wow. Instead, listen, we're doing this. We're doing this. And I'm doing this because it's fun. I'm doing it because I love podcasting, because I love having a direct line to you guys, because I think it's fun. I love talking to people. I've had the best time recording episodes in Australia. I can't wait to record episodes in Edinburgh, because that's the other thing is I live in Denmark now, so I can only really record episodes when I'M in the UK or when international acts come to Denmark, or if I'm in Australia, of course, or if I'm in Edinburgh. I'm still working on doing international podcasting over Zoom or over, you know, the Internet. But this Internet that we have here, where I live, is irregular. So when I was doing the Aubrey Gordon episode, it cut out five times within the hour and I was losing it. And it doesn't make for the best podcasting if you keep having to take two minute breaks where I don't know what's happening. But I am working on that. I'm trying to find stable Internet. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way I can do this, because then, oh my God, the world is our oyster, right? We can do episodes with people from all over the freaking world. And trust me, I have a list. I have a list of people I want to interview. Now we're going to continue. If you're listening to this, it means you're probably one of the, the most hardcore listeners and I cannot express how much I appreciate you. I'm in such a weird place in my career right now. I, like, two years ago I was planning on quitting and never doing stand up again. A year ago I decided to give it two more years. Like, and now I've created this show that feels so special to me. I feel like I'm a good comedian. For the first time in many years, I feel like I've created a very, very special, good show. And I'm going to be honest with you, I had the word important. I was about to say important show and then I stopped myself because I was like, okay, let's calm down, calm down. But it's definitely important to me. And it's already gotten one five star review. I, you know, not to mention that, but I just did. And it's called, I think some of this is my fault. And if this could be, if this could be my life, if I could do this podcast and I can do this show and I can tour this show and that's all I need. That's all. And then I every some year I write a book, it would be the best life. I would be happy on a daily basis. And I will never forget you for being with me on this journey. It means the whole world to me. I'm so grateful. I hope, I hope you will come and see this show. It would mean the world to me. And I'm going to end this little update with just telling you where I'll be because so many new dates have been announced. I am taking it to the end of Fringe this August. I am then for the full month by the way. And it is selling well, which I'm so grateful for. I'm then taking it to the Soho Theater in November in London. Oh my God, guys, it's such a big room. Well, it's 150 seater but I'm doing six dates. That is a lot of tickets. Nine hundred, a thousand. I can't do the maths. It is a lot of tickets to sell. So I would love for you to come to that if you're anywhere near London. And then next year it's going on tour, baby, I'm. It's in Denmark, Copenhagen, Una Aarhus. It's in Sweden, Melmur, Jurg and Stockholm. And I, you know what I'm not ashamed to say. Well I am a little bit the Melmu venue. I've never gigged in Malmu in Sweden before. If they put me in a 650 seater, I've sold two tickets. So if you're in Melmu or anywhere near Melmu. Ah, hey. Please come, please come. I'm also doing Berlin and Rotterdam. I'm also doing the UK Dates have just been announced. Leicester, Sheffield, Selby, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Reading, Brighton, Cambridge, London and Exeter. And more dates will be announced. If you are like, wait a minute, where's Bristol? Calm down, okay, calm down. We're getting to Bristol. Of course I'm doing Bristol. Are you kidding me? I will also be doing leads. Of course I'm doing leads. We just don't have the venue yet. Yes, I think that's it. Please do go and sign up for Patreon or Substack. It would mean the entire world to me. And I do mean this. I do mean this. Like I have been through ups and downs when it comes to my relationship with people supporting my work. There was a long period of time where I was, I don't want to say ungrateful but I was scared. Like it scared me and I felt, I don't know that I was, I was in a dark place from for many years and I don't think I could really truly appreciate how much it really means to have people supporting your work. And I've just been beaten right down back to earth if that helps. If that helps at all. And now I am grateful for it every single day. And however I continue my career which hopefully will be like this, continuing this. I don't need to be rich. I don't need to be Famous. If I just have people listening to my podcast and coming to my shows, I am. Listen, I don't mind renting for the rest of my life. I don't mind renting. I don't mind living in social housing and just getting by and just having a shitty car that I love that works and just eating yogurt and porridge. I really don't care if I can do this for a living. The living doesn't have to be great. Does that make sense? That sounds horrible, but you know what I mean. I'm not looking to buy a house. I'm not looking to have a pool. I'm not looking to have a Tesla for Jesus Christ. No, I just. I would just love to do this unlike whatever a normal person earns, doing a normal job. And you are. You're helping me do that. You're helping me do that by listening. And I really appreciate it. I love you so much. Thank you for sticking by me and for listening to this podcast and that I. I will update you again if things change, when things change. And I hope you enjoy the podcast, by the way. I forgot to say that because I'm really enjoying doing it. And I think we'll find our. We'll find our feet, we'll figure out what it is and then it'll just become something really special. And I. I will be really happy with it. We'll all be really happy. I am happy. We're happy. Hey. Hey. Despite everything, Denmark hasn't had a government for two months. We're all a bit what the is happening. Everything is weird. But I like what I'm putting into the world and I like that you're listening to it. I love you very much. Okay, bye. Thank you so much for listening to that episode. If you want some sweet, sweet, sweet special extra bonus content, do go and sign up to Patreon or Substack and within the week you'll get an extra fun bonus episode. And there's so much fun. And there are so much. Did I mention fun? Go to Patreon or Substack. The links are in the show notes. And I'll see you on tour. I'll be all over the place. The Edinburgh Fringe, Soho Theater, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Netherlands and all over the uk and more dates will be announced soon. Please sign up for my newsletter. The link is also in the show notes. And just big thank you. Thank you for subscribing. Thank you for telling people about the podcast. It's completely self produced. I don't know if I've mentioned it, but I love you very much and thank you for listening and I will speak to you again soon. Thank you so much. Bye. Here's the end jingle made by me.
