FULL EPISODES OF SOUNDTRACKER CAN ONLY BE FOUND EXCLUSIVELY ON PATREON!
Lots and lots of movies have soundtracks. Some are classics. Some are bad. But the majority fall somewhere in between. This podcast is going to take a look at all of them (or, as many as I can). Every week I'll be covering a different movie that had an original motion picture soundtrack, and then digging into the album. One part film discussion, one part music discussion, the Soundtracker podcast is here to help you navigate the wide world of movies and music. In each episode, myself and a guest discuss the movie and its soundtrack, rate each one, give you our picks for the best songs on the soundtrack, and suggest additional recommendations for what to watch or listen to in relation to whatever we're covering. So join me, as I look back at an era that's largely a thing of the past, and maybe you'll find a new favorite film or song along the way. New episodes every Friday. Sorry for the delay on this, school is approaching the final lap and it's busy as hell. But here it is: the preview for the March episodes, which you can only find exclusively at www.patreon.com/soundtracker this season. I covered HIGH FIDELITY, with Bobby Big Wheel (@kleinman.bsky.social) and SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER with Jesse Hawken (@jessehawken, @jessehawken.bsky.social) the host of the Junk Filter Podcast (@junkfilterpod) and they ended up going together thematically much more than I ever expected. They're very fun discussions, so I hope you check them out, and if you want more you can find it, once again, at www.patreon.com/soundtrackerCheck out Junk Filter here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/junk-filter/id1535693601Support it on Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/c/junkfilter/home?redirect=trueSupport the show on Patreon! Well, as you can see by the runtime on this episode, there's some changes coming this season. Long story short, I had to cut it down to either doing the episodes on Patreon only, or end the show altogether. Well, I still want to keep making episodes, so I went with the former. I explain further in the episode, as well as give a ten minute preview of the season premiere. I'm closing out Halloween with THE FACULTY, which has thankfully grown a big following in the years since it released. And joining me is Brandon Sutton (@prettybadlefty on both Twitter and Blue Sky) who has some really great reads on the themes of the movie. We also talk about Josh Hartnett's haircut, the cast, the soundtrack, and a whole lot of other things. So do some drugs from a Bic pen and give it a listen.Check out The Discourse here: https://soundcloud.com/expandthediscourseSupport The Discourse on Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/ExpandTheDiscourse?utm_campaign=creatorshare_fanSupport the show on Patreon! Well I've had some scheduling conflicts the last few weeks but everything's back on track, however in the meantime I'm unlocking a bonus episode. It fits the season and it was just sitting right there. I'm joined once again by author Chris Stedman (@ChrisDStedman), host of the Unread podcast, and Vulture's Craig Jenkins (@CraigSJ) to talk about the very 2001 QUEEN OF THE DAMNED.Check out Unread here: https://chrisstedmanwriter.com/unread/Some of Craig's stuff can be found here, but I suggest looking into anything he's written: https://www.vulture.com/2018/09/mac-miller-profile.htmlhttps://www.vulture.com/article/ka-rapper-remebrance-1972-2024.htmlhttps://www.vulture.com/author/craig-jenkins/Support the show on Patreon! Look, you all know why you're here. You wanna hear us talk about Ninja Rap. Well, you're in luck, because I'm joined once again by Henry Gilbert (@hEnereyG on Twitter and @henereyg.bsky.social on BlueSky) of the Talking Simpsons podcast, and we definitely talk about that song--as well as a whole lot of other stuff--while we dig into TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2: THE SECRET OF THE OOZE. So check it out, and as always, GO NINJA GO NINJA GO!Check out Talking Simpsons here: https://talkingsimpsons.libsyn.com/Support it on Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/talkingsimpsons?utm_campaign=creatorshare_fanSupport the show on Patreon! Well, I'm still here! And today I'm joined by Alex Goldman (@AGoldmund) and Juniper (@CantEverDie) of Western Kabuki (@WesternKabuki)--which began its life as a Nicolas Cage podcast--to talk about GONE IN 60 SECONDS, which I hadn't seen since it first came out, and actually hated back then. Do I like it now? You'll have to listen to find out! (Yes, I do). In this episode we talk about what an incredible name Memphis Raines is, the incredible cast, the great car stunts, the one piss poor CGI stunt, Angelina Jolie's extremely Y2K hairstyle, Delroy Lindo, and the shockingly good soundtrack. So check it out, and remember: it never Raines, it pours.Check out Western Kabuki here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/western-kabuki/id1647062210Alex has a new show launching next week! If you don't follow me on Twitter, or you just missed it, I'm in the midst of a completely frivolous trademark dispute with some guy who records the sounds of crickets in the snow. I'll explain better in the episode. Hopefully I'm still here next week, and I can finally post the GONE IN 60 SECONDS episode, which was supposed to come out today. Love you all! Today is a big one for the show. First of all, it turns 3 today. Oh, and also, I finally FINALLY get to talk about my favorite soundtrack of all time, ABOVE THE RIM--which just so happens to also soundtrack a very good movie. Oh, and ALSO, I'm joined by the very funny duo that makes up the Third Time's the Charm podcast, Coley Mick (@ColeyMick) and Tyler (you know him as Trill Withers, or @TylerIAm on Twitter), who bring their knowledge of basketball and horny R&B music for a very funny episode. In this episode we talk about Tupac's charismatic menace as Birdie, the very well-done basketball scenes, Wood Harris, and in a first for the show, we talk about the soundtrack for even longer than we talk about the movie itself. And what a soundtrack it is. Besides the monster singles (Regulate and Afro Puffs), it has a mix of sunny R&B, more great rap offerings (including my favorite Tupac song of all time, Pain), another of my all-time favorite 90s soundtrack songs (Blowed Away by B Rezell) and a smattering of very horny songs to keep things honest. And the entire soundtrack is available on all streaming services, including the 3 songs that you could only find on the cassette version of the soundtrack. Which is something I talk about at great length in the episode. But you'll have to listen to the episode to hear it. Don't do it for me. Do it for Nutso.Check out Third Time's the Charm here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/third-times-the-charm/id1735312721And here: https://youtube.com/@thirdtimesthecharmud?si=SJdiHI7p1HG5DbMlCheck out Sheed and Tyler here: https://youtube.com/@sheedandtyler?si=Aye_5l-HsM5BWmrRCheck out Section 10 here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/section-10/id1736746980Support the show on Patreon! The Helldude (@allahliker on Twitter, @helldude.bsky.social over on Bluesky) returns, and this time we're shifting gears from DEEP COVER to REPO MAN, the essential sci-fi punk comedy. In this episode we talk about the long road to this movie becoming the cult classic it is now, Harry Dean Stanton being the greatest difficult actor who ever lived, the punk soundtrack and a lot more. Listen to it while you're eating sushi (and not paying for it).Listen to ALAB here: https://www.alabseries.com/Support the show on Patreon!
