Having the right people in your corner for life's biggest milestones makes all the difference. Like a friend who's there. When you're house hunting or checking out a new ride, State Farm is there, too, helping you choose the coverage you need. With a State Farm agent, you know, someone is there to help you along the way. And with so many coverage options, it's nice knowing you have help choosing a plan that fits your needs so you can continue celebrating all of life's milestones. Like a good neighbor. State Farm is there.
B
All right. All right. Welcome back to State Tranquilo. We are here with Felipe Sixto. Big, big event going on here in Miami at Columbus. Tell us a little bit about what we got going on this weekend.
C
Absolutely. So we have the first annual Christopher Columbus Domino Tournament at the high school. It's the first event put on by the alumni association directly, so we're really excited about that.
B
Oh, yeah. Obviously, Columbus is known for putting together some pretty epic events. Right. We got the pig roast, that food and wine. Right. It's a variety of different events, but what is it that makes this one unique? Right. You said it's the inaugural event. Obviously, Domino's in Miami are iconic.
C
Right.
B
We grew up playing Domino's our whole life. So why now? Right. I feel like a domino tournament probably should have happened a long time ago.
C
Well, I think we've tried a couple times in the past and just so many events. You know, the school does a great job putting together the larger events. Domino tournament, you know, it's a little bit more of a niche market, and I think it's the perfect event to be spearheaded by alumni. So it's being sponsored by mostly alumni companies. Sixto Packaging, we're the presenting sponsor. We have Ben A. Casa, Johnny Cuba, Tight Ashes, Cow Bakery, Many, many sponsors. So we're real, real glad that they. That they're helping us out.
B
Yeah, no, absolutely. It's. It's great, right? Everything kind of stays in the family, but everyone's supporting each other in the process. Right. And when you talk about Columbus, I think that's something that is. It's exactly what it is. Right. And you're seeing it firsthand in something like this. So tell us kind of layout of the tournament. Right? What, what's going on throughout the day? I know we were talking offline. There's some different activities also going on and other contests outside of the domino tournament.
C
So the domino tournament's going to be a Swiss round. Everyone's going to be able to play five or six, narrowing down the teams to the top four where then we'll have a championship game, you know, first, first and second prize. And then of course runner ups in the third and third and fourth teams. During the domino tournament we're going to have obviously open bars, we're going to have some cigar rollers provided by Tight Ashes and other of our great sponsors. Then we have a couple unique activations going on. One of our sponsors, Benacaza and the other one, Castaway Coffee are doing a little activation to see who makes the best cafecito. So you know, you'll be there the sugar making your MIT and you know, we'll have somebody judging that and there's going to be prizes whether it's cafeteras or cups or free coffee, all types of things. And then later on in the afternoon, you know, around 3:34 o', clock, cow bakery is sponsoring croqueta eating contest. So we're not going to be doing the real, real big croquetas but not the little ones either. We have a medium sized house croqueta so they're going to be tasty. We're going to see how many can the people eat in two minutes. So okay, you know we'll have a, we'll have them lined up there.
B
So that's, it should be exciting like Joey Chestnut style. See how many you can chow down and that's going to be interesting. What do you, what do you think the winning number is going to be there in two minutes?
C
I think maybe, you know, 30, 32.
B
Really? I, I think someone can get to 50. Yeah, see, but no, it's exciting, right? I think so many of us want to be part of something like this, right? And you add a little bit of a competitive element to it. So talk to us. What, what do the people win if they do win the domino?
C
So the, the championship teams, they win custom W. Then we also have this beautiful championship ring. It says championship domino tournament with the little Columbus logo there. All the players are going to be getting tables and dominoes. Thanks to one of our sponsors, Benecasa. We're going to have again cigar rollers, food, plenty of giveaways. So it's going to be, it's going to be a fun time.
B
Awesome. So tell us the details, when is it, where is it and where can people get their tickets?
C
So Saturday April 25th at 1 o' clock at Columbus High School on campus. You could find the eventbrite link right in the, in the bio. And most importantly, part of the proceeds are going to go to the Castaways Against Cancer. So helping them out in their mission. They launch off in June, so we're really excited about that and yeah, we're looking forward to the event and we hope to see you all there.
B
Absolutely. And one last thing. Tell us a little bit about Sixto Packaging, Castaway Coffee, a little bit about you and what you kind of do.
C
So Sixto Packaging, we're a flexible packaging manufacturer so we're making mostly bags for the food industry, Potato chips, coffee, snack foods, you name it, pressure sensitive labels, cannabis, you name it. We're doing packaging for at the same time. I'm also one of the co founders and kind of spokesperson for Castaway Coffee. It's still the official coffee of the Florida Panthers and really giving back to environmental causes with all the sales of those coffees.
B
Absolutely, yeah. I mean seeing Castaway Coffee all over the place, Panthers actually, obviously Columbus events, all that. So it's great to see the, the growth of the brand and we're excited for this weekend. I think it's going to be a great domino tournament. If you need plans this weekend, I don't think you have any other decision now but to go to the Columbus Domino tournament. It's going to be great time, great food, great drinks, great people as always. So we definitely hope to see you out there and any final last words.
C
Well, thanks for having me. And stay tranquilo.
B
Always stay tranquilo. We'll see you.
C
Take care, brother.
