This episode of Stylish is brought to you by Adore Beauty. Get up to 40% off on your favorite skincare, hair care, makeup and wellness brands at the Adore Beauty after pay day sale running until August 16th. Hi, everyone.
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
Welcome back to Stylish. This is a bit of a different episode today because this is the first episode of our mid year break. My name is Naima Fatima and I'm Shameless, media head of socials and also one of Stylish's co hosts. If you're a regular listener, you're probably familiar with the swap. It's our weekly segment where we share our favorite things and today we're sharing the best of the best. These are the recs that you guys clicked on, you purchased, you queried about, you messaged in our DMs and raved about the most. All of the links for the episodes where these swaps originally came from will be in our show notes, but for now, let's get into it. First up, you'll be hearing from Mads and myself about our favorite cameras. We were inundated with messages about these cameras, so there's no better way to kick off this episode. I thought about this. I was like, what is something that is like, quintessentially me? I thought about content and also social and I was like, okay, I'm gonna bring in my cameras, which I actually did bring in today.
Naima Fatima
Oh, we have a physical prop, people. Okay, you've got two cameras. I've got two.
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
Because I have to be on my phone all the time at. I've tried really hard to take some of that screen time down, which is, to be honest, we looked at it the other day and it was pretty diabolical.
Naima Fatima
What was it?
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
It was seven hours on one and two hours on the other. So, yeah, not good.
Naima Fatima
But you're head of social.
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
I know, but I still should bring it down a little bit.
Naima Fatima
Okay, so how are you bringing it down?
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
My camera roll is also all like, a lot of it's just like outfit photos or my work photos. So I wanted to bring somewhere where I could have all of like my special memories and not bring out my phone as much when I'm out with my friends to dinner, you know, family time. So I ended up getting two cameras. I'm not a camera expert, so you could buy any of these cameras, but I've got a film one and a really easy, like point and shoot digi1. I like to take this out on like a night out with a flash. It looks so Good. Fair warning, you will be hit up by your friends the next day being like, oh, do you have those photos? So be prepared to work.
Naima Fatima
Be prepared to work. You work enough by the sounds of that screen time. What's the other one you've got?
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
So this one's just a 35 millimeter point and shoot. Both of these are from Facebook Marketplace. They were under a hundred each. Obviously film is like a little bit more expensive, you do have to get it developed but it's actually so easy to do now as well. There's a bunch of dropboxes around Melbourne where you can just drop off the film and they just do it for you. Facebook Marketplace. You don't have to spend too much, they're just nice things to have in your bag at all times. Especially the film one. Cause it's like when I get them printed, I have no idea what's on there. So it's such a nice surprise because it's like you don't actually obsessed with what the photo is. It's just a nice memory.
Naima Fatima
I feel I need to break the habit of reserving my film for being on holiday.
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
Yes.
Naima Fatima
I really like that you're leaning into it being like, okay, everyday moments, going out with your friends, capturing those memories. That's really special. And I really need to take a page out of your book.
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
Just pop it in your handbag.
Mads
I've just gotten back from holiday. I was with friends who just got married. I took a number of cameras with me. I used to shoot in film a lot. So I've got some recommendations. The first is dad cams are back in a big way. I bought my dad cam from Amazon. I think it cost me 120 or $130 and was there in like two days. Another great camera if you like to shoot in film. They can be quite expensive if you want to get a reloadable, but 35 millimeter CO are a lot more affordable so I love them. Also Maddie is like a 26 year old Australian girl. So we love a female founder. Otherwise jump on ebay. They have some great cameras that you can buy secondhand.
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
Next up, we've got a skincare wreck from our resident skincare expert, Jo. If you saw any of Jo's wedding photos, you would have seen the work that this sheet mask did. I definitely was influenced on this one too.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
Well, speaking of the wedding day, my skincare pick is actually a repeat recent swap which is the Rejuran turnover sheet mask.
Annika (Fashion Expert and Style Icon)
Yes, I did see you did these.
Mads
Was it the morning of or the night before.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
We did them the morning of.
Mads
So amazing.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
I intended to maybe do them the night before and then I was like, actually, I got a fair bit of time in the morning. I'm going to do it in the morning because my skin tends to look like really quenched after I use them. So I put them on both of us the morning of. We did LED the night before and then we put the sheet masks on the morning of and everyone in the venue was like, whoa. Because I was just walking around like,
Annika (Fashion Expert and Style Icon)
hey, I love it, I love it so much.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
Scaring people, but very soothing, very hydrating. Obviously it was great for skin prep as well. So, yeah, no complaints. And everyone was saying Adrienne's skin looked amazing.
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
So now onto one from re. She actually recommended these Pilates socks during a swap and it resulted in a whole lot of you actually buying them.
Naima Fatima
Okay, so mine is for the Pilates girlies. Do you guys do Pilates?
Mads
Yes, I do hot matte. I've recently rebounded back into hotmat.
Naima Fatima
Yeah, I'm a big hot matte fan. But these are more for the reformer girlies. So they are specifically this brand called Pinky and Kamal. They do the best Pilates socks I've ever worn.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
Really?
Naima Fatima
They are so comfy and they look so cute. The grip. So that's what. For those of you who don't know, when you go to Pilates, if you're a reformer girly, you need socks that have like a grip on the bottom so you don't slip. You can also use them.
Mads
Hot mat.
Naima Fatima
Though I have worn them in classes before, I also now wear them outside of Pilates. I wore them on the weekend when I went to brunch with a few friends. I just wanted to wear like a bit of color. I had my brown Lululemon shorts, my white Sing it. These gorgeous brown socks. And they're just so cute and I feel so good in them. They're $28. So yes, on the more expensive side. But I think for Pilates socks, yeah, not too bad. And because I've been wearing them outside of the studio, I feel like I'm getting that cost per wear.
Podcast Host / Announcer
Up next, a hair styling tool from Annika. We were skeptical at first, but the results speak for themselves.
Annika (Fashion Expert and Style Icon)
So on one of my late night doom scrolls, I may have been served a lot of hair inspired tools devices. It actually might have been from sitting in here on my phone listening to me. But anyway, the Taimo ring Plus, have you guys even heard of this brand?
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
No.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
What is this?
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
Can I do a quick Google?
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
You can. It's gonna send you ring plus.
Annika (Fashion Expert and Style Icon)
So, literally, I was spammed by Instagram and the slide came up of this woman doing her hair. And one side was, like, super curly, like, fro, like, and then the other side was sleek. I know, I know. It's so rogue, you guys.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
So it's like a hot brush.
Annika (Fashion Expert and Style Icon)
It's like a hot brush, and I kid you not. My hair is a fro, naturally. Like, this is so curly. It's coarse. It's a mane.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
Yeah.
Annika (Fashion Expert and Style Icon)
I literally put this through my hair, and it is so straight, it's not even funny.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
Really?
Annika (Fashion Expert and Style Icon)
Yes.
Mads
Really good reviews.
Annika (Fashion Expert and Style Icon)
Like, have I given a review?
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
What temperature does it go up to?
Annika (Fashion Expert and Style Icon)
Well, that's what makes it even more amazing, because.
Naima Fatima
Go on. Go on.
Annika (Fashion Expert and Style Icon)
Infomercial. Literally. So it's for International Voltage. So you know when you travel and
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
your tools don't work?
Mads
I mean.
Annika (Fashion Expert and Style Icon)
Yeah, so my tools never work when I travel. It's so annoying. This. It just heated up in New York, in Paris, in Italy, in Australia.
Mads
We get it.
Naima Fatima
You travel.
Annika (Fashion Expert and Style Icon)
I do.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
Okay.
Annika (Fashion Expert and Style Icon)
Brat. Okay, Mr. Watts, like, this product is $109. It's probably like, there's always, like, buy one, get one free. 30%, 40%.
Mads
So it's actually $119.99 today.
Annika (Fashion Expert and Style Icon)
Okay, well, yes.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
And they're gonna. Is the next ad.
Mads
It goes from 120 degrees Celsius to 210 degrees Celsius, has nine temperatures, and
Annika (Fashion Expert and Style Icon)
I think it's got a ceramic plating. So it's good for your hair, right? Sure, sure. But anyway, it's amazing. It took me, like, 10 minutes to do my hair with this. And I've, like, put away my hair straightener, and I use this, and I travel with this, and it's so compact and small. It's amazing.
Mads
I'm so sorry that I laughed at you because I'm absolutely gonna buy that for Coachella.
Annika (Fashion Expert and Style Icon)
Everybody was laughing at me. Like, the girls at work were like, you did not just buy that. Like, you did not buy the Instagram ad. And I was like, come on.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
Would you have normally used a straightener?
Re (Fashion Expert)
Yeah.
Annika (Fashion Expert and Style Icon)
So I usually have to blow dry my hair and then I've got to straighten it, and it's generally like an hour to an hour and a half for me. Like, it's such an ordeal. Yeah.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
Appreciate that one.
Re (Fashion Expert)
You're welcome.
Podcast Host / Announcer
Now one from me.
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
Earlier this year, I shared my tried and tested lip combo for brown girls,
Podcast Host / Announcer
and it proved to be pretty popular.
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
I'M going to do a lip combo and I'm going to say it's for the brown girls. Often I look online, I see a lip combo, I try it on, it looks terrible on me. But this one is tried and tested and it's probably the only combo I do because once I like something, I just don't know how to change it. So it's the Mecca Pout Pencil in Stella with the Rimmel. Oh, my gloss. Butter Me Up Lip Butter. That is a really long name.
Naima Fatima
That's quite a name as well. Dare I say Butter Me Up.
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
Butter Me up in Latte Delight. And it's the, I would say the perfect day to day brown glossy combo. And I love it. And both pretty affordable.
Mads
I'm so glad you called out the Mechamax Power pencil, because I've had my makeup done professionally probably three or four times this year. Every single individual makeup artist is like, it's still good. Like no matter what they've got in their kit, there's like very expensive lip liners in there. It's still the one they reach for.
Naima Fatima
Such a good product. I have two on me at all times.
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
Yeah, One in every handbag.
Naima Fatima
It has to be that way. If you don't come home with your lip pencil. So sad.
Mads
It's so, so regular, so common, so real. I saw one when it was like when you see the Holy Trinity when you wake up and it was like your keys, your phone and your lip liner. And I was like, that is so real.
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
And now onto an Instagram account recommendation from Mads. They actually saw an 102% increase in followers in just one week following Mads recommendation.
Mads
It's an account called because of Marketing. So anyone I love this account who works in branding or pr or maybe you're just interested, I don't know, you could be an accountant and want to follow it too. They do a weekly wrap up of all of the campaigns that brands are doing that are really clever or interesting. And they'll also do kind of little trend wrap ups, which I love. So it'll be the relationships and synergies with say, flowers and designer fashion houses or food and fashion and how we're seeing it evolve from like the Hailey Bieber Air One smoothie. And I just think it's such a great account. It's super digestible. And I think whether you're going in as someone heavily in that space or as I said, you have a totally unrelated job, I think it's really interesting and super palatable. So I love everything that account's doing.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
Yeah, a lot of us don't really think about the marketing that goes into stuff. Like unless you work in marketing and content, you really don't appreciate it for what it is.
Mads
Yeah, I work in marketing and I'm still a sucker for it. So I'm like a marketer's dream.
Podcast Host / Announcer

Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
I'm sure I don't have to tell you how hard it is to find the right bra.
Podcast Host / Announcer
So it's no surprise that this bra rack from Jo resonated with so many of you.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
I thought I would swap in my favorite bra.
Naima Fatima
Oh, come on.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
I think this is probably the best
Re (Fashion Expert)
bra I've ever owned.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
It's the Fine Lines attitude wireless plunge bra.
Podcast Host / Announcer
Oh.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
So it doesn't have any underwire and it is just so comfortable. I honestly, I think I'm wearing it now.
Re (Fashion Expert)
Hang on.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
Yeah, I'm wearing it now. I absolutely love it. It just supports me so much. It fits me beautifully. And I think that's the key part is knowing your bra size, which we're going to talk about a little bit today. But I love this bra. I absolutely love brand Fine Lines. They do some great bras.
Mads
I heard. Great.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
Yeah. Really, really great products.
Re (Fashion Expert)
I'm with you on fine lines.
Annika (Fashion Expert and Style Icon)
I know Nadia Bartel works a lot
Re (Fashion Expert)
and she does like all the beautiful Henny tanks. And you know how sometimes in a tank you just want to have like the perfect kind of like coverage. I wouldn't say. I feel like she always opts for a fine lines bra. And I've got in behind one as well. And they really do sit so well. They give the girls a nice lift.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
Strapless bra is fantastic as well, which we'll talk about later.
Mads
Okay.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
I'll need to drop.
Mads
There's so many notes for me to make. I don't have a pen. I'll have to listen back.
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
Next up, a pair of pants that took the shameless media office by storm. I reckon 80% of the people in the office bought a pair of these pants, myself included. I do have these in two colors.
Naima Fatima
Look, I was actually influenced by Zara McDonald. I think it's really important to be transparent that I was influenced and I'm influencing you. The assembly label Lola barrel pants. Now, I know there are some people that don't like the barrel leg look. I love it. I love a wide leg pant. These are cool. Also $100. They've got a few colorways. Navy, a khaki black. Really, really good for traveling. Great cotton blend. Super comfortable. They are.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
I'm going to raise them right now.
Naima Fatima
I love a live Google.
Mads
Yeah. Also love that they come in different colorways because when you do find something you love, especially in this like weird Melbourne trans seasonal period, you're like, yeah, I'm still wearing like heavy blacks but also might want to white for the warmer months.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
These are very cool. I'm looking at photos of them now. They're quite baggy for a barrel leg.
Naima Fatima
I sized down. Okay, that definitely helped. Also great that Zara's a lot shorter than me. I'm quite tall. I'm 173cm. I don't know how tall Zara is, but I know she's probably a head shorter than me.
Mads
Probably somewhere around 163. Like someone else in the room.
Naima Fatima
Yes, similar to you. So they're good for tall girls and they're good for the short girlies as well. But yes, Zara did actually influence. So it's technically a Zara McDonald swap.
Podcast Host / Announcer
Replenishing your beauty cupboard is an expensive endeavor, but there's a smarter way to stock up on your beauty basics.
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
Adore beauties.
Podcast Host / Announcer
After payday sale running until August 16, you can get up to 40% off on professional skincare from brands like Skinceuticals and Medicate. Cult favorite K beauty brands like Beauty of Joseon and Medicube and makeup staples from brands like Mac Maybelline and Giorgio Armani. You can shop Adore Beauty's after payday sale in store and online now. And a huge thank you to Adore Beauty for making this episode of Stylish possible.
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
Another one that we had so many DMs about from you guys. Mads raved about this in an episode
Podcast Host / Announcer
last year where we shared our at
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
home skincare and beauty devices that are actually worth spending your hard earned cash on.
Mads
I worked at Mecca for a number of years and when you work at Mecca you're given a very generous staff discount and also a staff allowance. So I think I saved up for like a year. I really hoarded that discount to buy devices. But there is one at home device I will ride at dawn for forever and that is the Philips at home laser.
Naima Fatima
Oh yeah, you recommended this works okay
Mads
like while we're sitting here talking and I do back NASA for science by the way. Like if NASA say I'm in but holy shit does that at home hair laser removal device work.
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
Finally, a more recent winter specific wreck from our in house fashion expert and style icon Annika who swapped in some next to skin layers that keep you nice and warm and stylish.
Re (Fashion Expert)
It is outerwear season and this is the season where our outerwear can definitely be the entire look. And I think you guys might resonate with this. When I wear outerwear, sometimes I wear way too many layers underneath. And when you get too hot and your outerwear is the look, it's not it.
Jo (Resident Skincare Expert)
You always wear things in here that are like, you know, that this room gets really hot. I don't know why you do this everywhere. She's in a leather shirt today.
Mads
I know.
Annika (Fashion Expert and Style Icon)
And I actually can't take the shirt
Re (Fashion Expert)
off because as I was walking out the door, Poppy spit up all over me. So I'm like covered and spit up. But I'm actually wearing one of my swaps. So my swaps are next to skin layers and I have been investing in quite a few. Joe's actually got a great one on today that we should actually swap in. But my go to every single winter are the Uniqlo Heat Tech long sleeves. They're great. They start at $24.90 and you can get a range of necklines and colors if you want something a little bit more, I guess something you'd wear as like its own piece. I love entire studios uniform series. They're like a 130 price point. They're all on sale now, but they're really cool bodysuits, so they kind of like snatch you in as well and give you a bit of shape, which I love.
Mads
Oh, you got me on the snatch.
Re (Fashion Expert)
I know. We love a snatch. And the. I know why.
Mads
That was my sound effect for a snatch.
Re (Fashion Expert)
The one I'm wearing today, which I will not be showing anybody because it's covered in spit up, is the Bear park super fine knits. Now, these are a little bit more lush. They've got, like, a really cute V neck. I'm loving a V neck at the moment. They're 220, but they've got a merino composition, which I love as well. So a little bit more warm. So I'm sweating over here.
Shameless (Media Head of Socials and Co-host)
And that's it. Thank you so much for listening to this episode of Stylish. We'll pop a link to each of these episodes in the show.
Podcast Host / Announcer
Notes and thank you to the team, Lucy Hunt and Zoe Twadell. And we'll see you back here next Wednesday.
Annika (Fashion Expert and Style Icon)
