Having given extensive instructions on how to be a “Doer of the Word,” James offers one final instruction on what to do when a brother or sister walks away from doing the Word. James’s conclusion is intentionally abrupt, but powerful! In his final admonition to us, James calls for us to go to extreme lengths in displaying our love for one another. Our love for one another – and for Christ! – should be so strong that when caught up in sin, we are willing to do whatever it takes to help each other return to being doers of the Word. Do you love your brother enough to do the hard work required to call them back to the truth of Christ when they wander into sinfulness? Join us this week as James brings us to a surprising conclusion!
Throughout the book, James has been pushing us to be faithful doers of the word, walking in dependence on the Lord for grace, growth, and guidance. In the conclusion of his book, he teaches us what prayer is and how to do it well so that we might actively demonstrate our dependence on Christ. Join us this Sunday as James teaches us how to pray effectively. Having learned last week what prayer is, we’ll learn this week how to do it well. Because prayer is the most often neglected of all the spiritual disciplines, it’s critical for us to learn a different perspective on the joy and privilege that is ours in prayer. Join us this Sunday for a fresh perspective on a key aspect of practical Christian living!

In the final section of this book, James urges us to live passionately for Jesus Christ. Since His return is near, and we know how He wants us to live (as doers of His Word, pursuing His will), we must live with our eyes fixed on eternity rather than this life. Having received James’ admonition not to live for this world, he now turns his attention to what it looks like to truly live for Christ. This Sunday, James puts life in perspective and calls us to live with our eyes fixed upon eternity! Join us as we explore five distinctions of a life lived for Christ.

Join us this Sunday as we continue our investigation of how to find the will of God. Last week, we looked at the theological foundation of what the will of God is and what it is not. This Sunday, we will work through a practical list of questions that will guide our decision-making and ensure that every choice we make is consistent with God’s revealed will for our lives.
Join us this Sunday as we learn what it means to find the will of God in the word of God. Every day, we face questions about how we are to live. Do we buy the house? Marry that boy or girl? Take the job? Switch schools? And the list goes on and on. We desire to find the will of God, but don’t see any Bible verses that address those issues. This week, we learn to discern the will of God through the word of God for every decision in our lives.

Throughout the book of James, he has been clearly explaining that God’s priorities differ from ours. Genuine followers of Christ recognize this truth and will adjust their priorities appropriately to match God’s priorities so that their life bears fruit. As James opens the final section of this book, he challenges us not to waste our lives, but to prove the reality of our faith through our works.
