As we return to Revelation 7, we find it providing a brief break between the 6th and 7th Seal Judgments (described in Revelation 6 and 8). The purpose of this chapter is to demonstrate the mercy of God and prove that even amid the judgment described, he is still good just as He has always been. God proves that to us here in chapter 7 by returning His attention to the nation of Israel, despite their repeated rejection of Him. Join us this Sunday as we dig back into the text of Revelation 7. This chapter offers a brilliant ray of light as we see the marvelous mercy of God set against the dark backdrop of His judgment. This week, we’ll see the unique portrait of a God who just won’t quit from His efforts to save sinners.
The book of Revelation records the end of world history and provides a brief window into what the future holds. Chapters 4-19 record a period that is known in Scripture by several titles: The Day of The Lord, the Tribulation, or the 70th week of Daniel. All these descriptions point to the same 7-year period after the rapture of the church, during which Christ prepares for His return by judging sinful man and saving the nation of Israel by drawing them back to Himself. Join us this week as we go back to the future! Beginning this Sunday, we are returning to our study of Revelation and its account of what is still to come. Since it’s been two years since we were last in this book, this Sunday will give us a running start as we get caught up to where we left off. Don’t miss this critical overview of what God has planned for the future of humanity.

Dry, barren, discouraged. Vibrant, fruitful, joyful. If we are honest, our Christian lives are often characterized by the first set of words rather than the second. And yet, Jesus promised that His followers will do greater works that He did, and that His joy will be in them. How can this be? How can we experience the vibrant Christian life that was so characteristic of our Lord? The instruction Jesus gives is simple: abide in Me. Join us this Sunday as we discover what this command means and see the fruitful and joyful life that it brings to those who follow it!
Having given extensive instructions on how to be a “Doer of the Word,” James offers one final instruction on what to do when a brother or sister walks away from doing the Word. James’s conclusion is intentionally abrupt, but powerful! In his final admonition to us, James calls for us to go to extreme lengths in displaying our love for one another. Our love for one another – and for Christ! – should be so strong that when caught up in sin, we are willing to do whatever it takes to help each other return to being doers of the Word. Do you love your brother enough to do the hard work required to call them back to the truth of Christ when they wander into sinfulness? Join us this week as James brings us to a surprising conclusion!
Throughout the book, James has been pushing us to be faithful doers of the word, walking in dependence on the Lord for grace, growth, and guidance. In the conclusion of his book, he teaches us what prayer is and how to do it well so that we might actively demonstrate our dependence on Christ. Join us this Sunday as James teaches us how to pray effectively. Having learned last week what prayer is, we’ll learn this week how to do it well. Because prayer is the most often neglected of all the spiritual disciplines, it’s critical for us to learn a different perspective on the joy and privilege that is ours in prayer. Join us this Sunday for a fresh perspective on a key aspect of practical Christian living!

In the final section of this book, James urges us to live passionately for Jesus Christ. Since His return is near, and we know how He wants us to live (as doers of His Word, pursuing His will), we must live with our eyes fixed on eternity rather than this life. Having received James’ admonition not to live for this world, he now turns his attention to what it looks like to truly live for Christ. This Sunday, James puts life in perspective and calls us to live with our eyes fixed upon eternity! Join us as we explore five distinctions of a life lived for Christ.
