Head up to the San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Central Coast beaches and things get a bit more interesting. Moving into Ventura County, we've got moderate rip current risk today with two to four foot waves fueled by mixed west and south swell. The water's warming up slightly here, reaching into the low to mid sixties. Keep an eye on those rip currents, especially during the lower tide around ten twenty-five in the morning.

Now things get spicier as we head to the LA County and Malibu Coast areas. We're looking at a high rip current risk alert for Thursday, so pay attention if you're planning to get after it. Today we've got moderate rip current risk with two to four foot surf from that mixed west and south swell. The water temperature ranges from fifty-eight to sixty-six degrees depending on where you are. Thursday the waves bump up to three to five feet and the rip current risk jumps to high, so exercise extra caution out there.

Looking ahead to Thursday across the board, conditions are staying relatively consistent with similar swell patterns and water temperatures. No thunderstorms expected anywhere along the coast, so weather-wise you're in the clear.

Bottom line: Santa Barbara County gets the mellow treatment with small fun waves and low hazard. Ventura County offers moderate conditions with decent size. LA County and Malibu are firing a bit more with stronger rip current risks, especially Thursday, so make sure you know how to handle those if you're paddling out in those zones.
