You're listening to an episode of the Abigail Pugh podcast with, you guessed it, Abigail Pugh. I'm an introverted mama who took my online business from zero to seven figures in 15 months, selling my own digital products on social media. And guess what? I did it all with my 3 year old daughter no less than 3ft away from me at all times. Now I'm bringing you everything I've learned about building a wildly profitable online business that supports your life while allowing you to truly live it. Get ready for raw, honest conversations with entrepreneurs making thousands per month selling their own digital products and people just like you who ditch self doubt to create the life they've always wanted. If you're ready to make more money, have more impact, and still have time for the things that matter most, you're in the right place. Grab your sneakers, head out on your hot girl walk, and let's dive in. Today's guest is one of my favorite humans and I feel like I say that about all of my guests, but I want you guys to know that everyone I bring on this podcast is someone that I know currently, right? It might not always be like that, but right now it's people that I have worked with and that I love and that I know have a lot to bring to the table. So today's guest is Natasha Willis and she's actually the co founder of School of Bots. So if you're someone that is on Instagram and you've ever seen those reels or carousels or stories where they say comment this keyword and I will send you the link to xyz. That's called a DM marketing funnel and she and her team are literally geniuses at this. I had kind of just dabbled in it. I think it was last year when I found her and then I worked with her and it was just insane to see how much that you can do with this. So without further ado, Natasha, welcome to the show.

Thank you so much for having me. That was such an awesome intro and I'm so excited to serve your people with anything and everything we can cover because I'm sure they see you running gear automations and they're like, how the heck is she doing this? And like, what, what's possible here, what are the limitations, etc.

Yeah, amazing. Okay, before we dive into like all the nitty gritty, don't worry you guys, we're going to get into that, but I'd love to just kind of know a little bit about you and kind of like how you got started in this world. I. You guys, I've never met someone who has a brain like Natasha. Like, it's just she's so analytical. I am not analytical. So learning from someone who is analytical and who understands like the flow of this type of thing, I don't know, it's just, it's so cool to see. So I'd love to kind of hear how you got started in all of this.
B (2:29)
Totally. So my journey has been really interesting to me in terms of like, I was in college, was about to start my first semester, and I had just read the Four Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss. And if anyone's read that book, it like immediately brainwashes you to be like, don't go to college. Like, go start a business, go digital. Nomad. Et me being naive as hell, right? I'm like, oh perfect, I'll like just go start my business abroad, you know, like zero experience with any of that. So anyways, that was kind of what started to get me in that mindset of do I even really want to go to college? And I had gotten 200 grand of scholarships and I was like, you know what, I'm going to just like go and see if this is something I want to do. And I just hated it from the get go. And so after that first semester, I had already bought my plane ticket to Hong Kong where I was supposed to do a semester, well, actually a year for a business program I was in. So I was like, perfect, that's where I'm going to start my, you know, abroad journey. And my boyfriend at the time, I was like, if you want to do this business thing with me, because he was going to start something else, um, like, let's work on this marketing agency that I'm ideating, kind of thinking about together. And then it ended up becoming both of our kind of brainchild. But at the time I was like, you have to read Four Hour Workweek if you want to come with me. So that was the basis of my, my philosophy of life at that time. So we ended up traveling, like fast forward to a year later. We traveled to seven different countries, we lived in like 25 different places and we crossed a little over a hundred thousand dollars in revenue. So it was a very like bumpy ride. And we traveled a ton and like met a lot of people in person and kind of got to see like what the state of digital marketing and what we called chat bot marketing, you know, back then, which is now kind of evolved into DM funnels on social media. Like, how people were just understanding and perceiving it. And we realized that everyone was at ground zero. Like, no country was better than any other in terms of people understanding, like, the potential for these channels. And so that led us then to about a year later, a year and a half, we winded up in California, which is where we're both originally from, but just in a different part of it, in San Diego. And we lived there for about two and a half years, I think. And that was where I really got a chance to meet some of the big dogs and the OGs in digital marketing, because San Diego has been such a hub for a long time. So I had my first, like, big speaking gigs there in front of like, hundreds and thousands of people. We got some really great clients through those processes. And I just got to go to these, like, masterminds, you know, I was like, oh my gosh, people paid like $20,000 to be here. I was like, I'm here, like for free as a guest or like, speaking. And so I really got introduced to a lot of the, like, information business world and just like higher level business world through all of that. And then now kind of fast forward to where we are. So we're like about 7ish years into our journey. And I kind of consider the first years of business as my, like, replacement for a bachelor's degree in college. Really, I feel like I just like screwed up so much stuff. Learned a ton. And then now where we are, is that in. For the last several years now, we've worked with the top 1% online brands to help them scale with all these DM channels on social media. And I feel it's taught me so much about entrepreneurship that I'm so grateful for because you get the experience to just learn from other people's systems and mistakes and lessons learned and launches and that kind of thing. Kind of similar to how people buy from you, right? And they're able to learn from all the stuff you've learned and been able to pass on to them. And so I feel like I kind of got my education that way, so. So now we run a team of about 20 people have helped our clients build funnels that have generated almost $80 million. Now we need to do our calculation this year. And yeah, it's been, it's been a wild ride, but I'm super grateful for it all.
