She sells a family compound guide and a freezer meal guide, and I just love her story. So without further ado, welcome to the show, Taryn.

Thank you. Thank you so much for having me. I'm totally fangirling over here right now.

Oh, my gosh. Stop. I am so excited to chat with you today. I feel like compounding is family compounding is. I'm so fascinated by the topic. So first, could you just tell us a little bit about what a family compound is and kind of how you got into it and built your own with your family?
B (1:53)
Sure. So I think people have like so many different ideas of what it is, but to us, it's just living on the same land as your family. And we've basically created like a big neighborhood. So I know some people live out in the middle of nowhere with like hundreds of acres. That's not what we've done. We have about 20 acres here. And there is me and my little family and my two sisters and my mom, and then most recently my sisters in laws moved here from Colorado. So we all just have our homes on a piece of land and it's all divided in a way that really anybody could do it. We're in a little neighborhood, but it just makes. I don't know, it makes raising kids so much easier and so fun. And the reason that this happened was we all kind of just moved away and went to college and did all of that and never thought we would move back here. Like, who wants to live in this little small town? We wanted to go big places and do big things. But once we had kids, it kind of all changed for us. My husband and I were actually working in the city with the traffic and all of these things, we had our life all completely set up. And once our daughter came, we just kind of had this, like, we can't do this anymore. It was almost claustrophobic. Like, we've got to get out of the city. We've got to change our life. Because we were barely seeing our daughter. We were just, like, handing her off, and it just wasn't working for us. We had, you know, really great jobs, and we had a really nice house, and we had all the things that we had thought we wanted, and it just changed. So we actually moved here. We sold our house on a whim. It sold in a day. We moved in with my mom and my toddler, and we were like, what are we going to do? And so at that time, we did start our accounting firm from my mom's spare bedroom, and she had land right behind our house, and she was like, you're free to build right here. And so that's what we ended up doing. We built a barndominium. I don't know if everyone knows what that is. It's just a really inexpensive way to build a house because we wanted to go, like, all in our. On our business and free up our time. We just wanted to spend time with our family and be close to grandparents and all of that. And that was about eight years ago, so.
