Hey, hi, hello! This week on Bathroom Sink, I have a big fat coffee gab with my lovely friend Aziza. A radio woman herself (as well as a comedienne and grad student), chatting with Ziz was the ultimate podcast feat of strength. Actually, it was mostly a giggle fest and a chance to practice my ability to edit the sound of two girls talking over each other. I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Listen in to find out Aziza’s best and worst jokes, to hear all about her project “The Stranger Cafe,” and to learn how many cigarettes a day is equivalent to feeling lonely. Reminder: you can listen here, on Spotify, or on Apple Podcasts. And if you’re super-duper totally loving it? Feel free to Buy Me a Coffee. This is a public episode. Welcome to the first episode of Bathroom Sink of 2025! I’m joined by the lovely Celine Diffin, continuing in the podcast’s tradition of having primarily Irish guests. Today I grill Celine about her current rise to TikTok stardom, her highs and lows of Hanoi, and her new adventures in motherhood. If you’re wondering if she spells her daughter’s name with superfluous letters, the answer is yes (Eabha). If you’re wondering about the deep, dark secret behind her spice bag business? You’ll have to listen to find out. You can find Celine’s TikToks about life, motherhood, and living abroad at @celineabroad95 and she’s sharing Hanoi eats on Instagram at @foodie_mama_abroadReminder, you can always find the show on your other podcast platforms. (Spotify, Apple). And if you’re totally loving it? Feel free to:Who wants to chat with me next? Mwahahaha.Xoxo-Ryley This is a public episode. This week: Graham Fam double wham (bam bam)! My darling little brother, Michael, and I catch up between Hanoi and North Carolina. We chat about martial arts, van life, and his long-time love of cooking. We even have a bit of a heart-to-heart about our somewhat directionless lives. Tune in to find out what we REALLY think of avocados and capital punishment. Because of all the talk about food, I’ve taken the creative liberty of using a kitchen sink for this week’s cover art. Enjoy! Reminder: you can listen here, on Spotify, or on Apple Podcasts. And if you’re loving the pod, you can always Buy Me a Coffee. And AND if you’re loving Michael, follow his food account on Instagram. This is a public episode. This Tuesday (which is actually a Wednesday because the week got away from me), I chat with my dear friend and forever neighbor, Daniela. She’s a woman who encompasses the word “pizzazz” and it was a delight to hear her thoughts on everything from friend fights (ours) to choreographing a massive flash mob to the song Thriller (hers). If you listen closely, you can hear the faint sounds of us draining a bottle of red in the background. Maybe you should enjoy a glass as well?Don’t forget: you can listen here, on Spotify, or on Apple Podcasts. And if you’re loving the pod, you can always Buy Me a Coffee.Happy December!Ryley This is a public episode. This week my heart grew two sizes from chatting with my long-lost friend Naomi Miyamoto (Mimi). This conversation, covering everything from clay to argan oil, but focused mostly on her life as a creative, lasted nearly three hours. Here’s the pared-down version. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Reminder: you can listen here, on Spotify, or on Apple Podcasts. P.S. we speak a lot about her different creative projects here, so I’d be remiss if I didn’t show you a few of them. If you want to follow more of Mimi’s work, you can find her on Instagram here. P.P.S.S. In the middle of the interview, Mimi told me that it’s never too early to sell your work, even if you don’t think its perfect yet. I’m nowhere near ready to start charging subscription fees for this newsletter but, inspired by her, I created an account with “Buy Me a Coffee” for anyone interested in making a one-time payment. If you’re enjoying the podcast or the newsletter and have a few dollars burning a hole in your pocket, I’d be happy to put them towards my rent (and my other needs/vices). If it’s not in your budget right now, not to worry! The newsletter remains free, and I remain overwhelmingly grateful for your readership. Monetizing is the part of this whole thing that makes me want to bury myself alive, but here I go digging the hole: Buy Me a Coffee. Have a wonderful week, Ryley This is a public episode. Episode 3 of Bathroom Sink is short, sweet, and features my dear friend Joan Owens. Joan and I are entering our third year of friendship since she moved to Hanoi in 2022. Here, we chat a lot about what we love about living in Vietnam and the eventuality of saying goodbye. We also talk about booze more than I’m proud of, and, upon spending hours editing this, I think we should both probably drink less. Also! A secret I’ve been accidentally keeping from you guys is that the pod is also available to listen to on Spotify at this link. Happy November,Ryley This is a public episode. Happy Tuesday! For Episode 2 of the Bathroom Sink podcast, I spoke with the mastermind behind the show’s jingle himself, Oisin Carr.I met Oisin when I first moved to Hanoi, and we became friends through Gaelic football and other shenanigans. His band, Njüsht, is currently working on their first full album.Due to construction at my apartment, we met at a notoriously unpopular bar to record this episode. Even though we sat inside and sweated it to avoid noisy fans, there’s still loads of background noise in this audio. Please forgive me, and enjoy! This is a public episode. Good morning, sunshines! This week, as promised, Episode 1 of the Bathroom Sink podcast. Ella Feldman has been a treasured friend since I met her 8-ish years ago while studying journalism. I’ve always appreciated her wit, discernment, and thoughtfulness, and I hope you do too. Here we fast chat away about making friends, the flicks of the summer, commuting, and more. I’m also pleased to say that we spoke briefly about soccer, and I’m considering just turning this into a sports podcast altogether. I also need to draw attention to my talented friend Oisin Carr, who made the podcast’s theme song with his bare hands. I’m always floored by the talent that walks among me, and even if this project dies on the vine today, I will treasure having my very own jingle forever. This is a work in progress (I’m learning how to say “like” less). So thanks a billion for having us in your ears. All my love- RyleyPS: Message me your answer to the party question!
