Authorities describe these cases as part of a much larger fraud ecosystem, potentially involving billions of dollars statewide.
The raids follow viral investigative videos and prior scandals such as Feeding Our Future ($250M fraud) and fake autism services schemes.

2. Political and Government Response

The Trump administration is pursuing an aggressive “war on fraud”, including freezing funds, ordering audits, and promoting data sharing across agencies.
Minnesota officials, including Democratic Governor Tim Walz, are expressing regret for past oversight failures and later supporting coordinated fraud enforcement.

James Comey was indicted a second time, this time over a social media post (“86 47”) interpreted by prosecutors as a threat against President Trump (the 47th president).
He is reportedly facing two felony counts related to threatening the president and interstate transmission of a threat.

Comey’s legal troubles are a broader reopening of investigations into the origins of the 2016 Russia probe (Crossfire Hurricane).
DOJ and FBI are now investigating whether Comey and other intelligence officials abused authority, mishandled evidence, or made false statements.
