Host Bert
The Burch Show I am going to scare every single person listening and everyone in the studio.
Jen
Really?
Host Bert
Yes.
Wendy
With what?
Host Bert
All I want you to do.
Melissa
You're naked.
Host Bert
Yeah. No, you're not that lucky. All you have to do is think about the password you guys have. When you have your passwords on your computer, do you use like 1Password for multiple sites? Like you have one that's maybe more common than others? I do.
Melissa
I do. Because my memory's so bad that if you log into so many different things, I tend to or variations of a similar password.
Host Bert
Okay, so take the password that you have and think of it and just make a note how many characters it is.
Wendy
A common one or any of them.
Host Bert
Just pick a password that you don't want people to have. So how many characters are in the word? So if Your password is snow, that's four characters. It's snow404. That's seven characters.
Jen
Okay.
Melissa
Can you write this down?
Host Bert
You don't have to just have it in your head how many characters it is.
Jen
Okay.
Host Bert
And then whether or not your password is uppercase or lowercase.
Melissa
Okay.
Jen
Okay.
Host Bert
All right.
Wendy
What if it's no case?
Host Bert
It has to be one case.
Jen
Lowercase or uppercase?
Wendy
If it's a number password.
Host Bert
Oh, then I.
Jen
If it's all numbers.
Host Bert
Yeah. Then it's lowercase. So, Wendy, how many characters Is your password?
Wendy
6.
Host Bert
And is it all lowercase or all numbers?
Wendy
All lowercase and all numbers.
Host Bert
It would take a hacker five minutes.
Jen
Whoa.
Host Bert
To hack your password and get into your account.
Jen
How so?
Host Bert
They would use a program. It's called a brute force attack. And they're programs you can get for free on the Internet. And the program would just guess repeatedly words and number combinations and just launch them at your account until it gets through. And an average computer running on a high speed Internet connection would be 5.15 minutes.
Jen
And it has nothing to do with Wendy or the numbers that are significant in her life?
Host Bert
Nope.
Jen
It's just the amount.
Host Bert
Yes. They actually. Okay, well, and then, Melissa, yours.
Melissa
It's almost like cheating. Like they're using a program to hack. Like, you can't brag about that. If you're the. If you're the person that created that program, you can brag, but if you're just applying. Yeah, you're a lazy hacker.
Host Bert
Seven, lowercase, all lowercase. 2.2 hours.
Melissa
A little longer than five minutes.
Wendy
Dang.
Host Bert
Jen.
Jen
10.
Host Bert
Yours is 10 characters long and all lowercase or upper and lower, all lowercase. Four and a half years. Oh, so yours is safer.
Jen
Four and a half years.
Host Bert
Yep. Now I will tell you, Wendy, yours. It's.
Jen
And here's the other question I have. I'm sorry.
Host Bert
Yeah.
Jen
If you have letter, N number combinations, is it harder?
Host Bert
Yes, it's more difficult.
Jen
Okay. Because I think I read that somewhere that it's better if you have numbers and letters combo.
Melissa
Well, some things that you log into
Jen
only makes sense to you.
Melissa
It gives you the. It says weak or strong. Like, I'm trying to think of some sites where it tells you if it's a good one or not.
Host Bert
The best passwords will contain either one capital letter or a symbol. You know, like the at symbol or the number sign or something. Like that. And this is how it improve your password. Wendy, you said yours are six characters. Yours would go from five minutes to eight and a half days if you just put one capital letter in there or one symbol.
Melissa
So most people use lowercase.
Host Bert
Yep. Melissa, yours would go from two and a half hours to two and a half years.
Melissa
Wow. Okay.
Host Bert
Jen, yours would go from four and a half years to two millennia if
Jen
I added a capital letter.
Host Bert
A capital letter or a symbol.
Jen
That's so smart. Now I'm gonna go through and change them today.
Host Bert
This list right here. Ready?
Wendy
Oh, yeah.
Host Bert
See if we have a word. Okay. I'll do this list real quickly so we can get away.
Jen
Do you know who this applies to? Even more than our generation? Because I'm not as freaked out by doing operations online or whatever, but our parents are totally freaked out. Anytime I get some sort of hacker warning or something like that, it's from my parents.
Host Bert
Now, don't. You obviously don't admit anyone in this room if this is your password until you have a chance to change it. But this hacker guy says that if your password is your partner's name, your child's name, your pet's name, any of those followed by a 0 or a 1, the last four digits of your Social Security number, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 1, 2, 3, 4th, 5, 6, your city, your college, or your football team name, your date of birth, your partner's date of birth, or one of your children's date of birth, or any of the following words, password, God, money, love, or let me in. All as one word. Then you fall into the same category as 20% of the population. And there are programs that will search for that information and generate it. And one out of five accounts, they get in with that.
Melissa
Wow.
Jen
You're kidding.
Host Bert
So I'll put all this information up online.
Jen
It needs to be completely random.
Host Bert
Yes.
Melissa
The problem is people forget that most people use those because they remember it.
Host Bert
And I remember I started was like three years. I think I've been working with Georgia's own credit union.
Jen
Yeah.
Host Bert
And I remember they made me choose a password that had a capital letter in it and, like multiple numbers. And I was so annoyed because I had the same password I used for everything else. And I was like, oh, come on, I'm never going to remember this. And now that I read this, I'm like, they're smart. They're smart. After reading this, I went back and changed other accounts to be more in line with what they do.
Jen
And so is this the same thing that hackers Are running the same program or are there a bunch of different kinds of programs?
Host Bert
There's multiple versions of the same program that you can download.
Melissa
Wow. Wow.
Wendy
I'm gonna have to change some passwords.
Host Bert
Freak you out.
Jen
Yeah. That'll totally freak you out.
Melissa
Yeah. Five minutes, Wendy. Five minute, Wendy.
Bird Show Host
The Birch show. Speaking of Wendy, here she has. We have challenged Wendy this week. She came on here a couple of days ago after watching Dancing with the stars, and she saw Kate Gosselin's really lame performance this week. Just thought she's kind of slept. Walked through the whole thing. And Wendy said she could do a better job than Kate Gosling could on Dancing with the star.
Wendy
Well, yeah. Well, they're given. I found out they're given four days, eight hours a day to rehearse and learn the next dance for the next week. So they have four days of rehearsals, and then they do their performance. But they've been together for three weeks. But Kate Gosselin just looks like she is not enjoying it at all.
Host Bert
Somebody's holding a gun to her head to be there.
Wendy
There's no effort involved. Not. And she's. She can't dance. So I. I challenged myself that I could learn a jive dance because that's what she did on Monday morning. I mean, Monday night, she did a jive dance and learned it in four days. So I said I could learn a jive dance in four days and. And do it better than Kate Gosling.
Bird Show Host
So I called her out on that. I'm like, okay, you think you really can do this? And let's go ahead and do it four days. You go ahead, find yourself a ballroom dancing instructor. And we gave her a couple of different leads, and then we'll do it same way Dancing with the stars does it. So we're gonna have to get you like, some kind of like, in studio audience or something. And you'll have to wear almost an identical outfit or at least similar outfit to Kate Gosselin also. And we'll put a video of you dancing to whatever song Kate Gosling was dancing to. Put em up online. Listeners will vote, and we'll see who gets more votes. And if you beat Kate Gosselin, I'll just throw you a hundred bucks.
Wendy
Right, right. And then I met actually with a dance instructor last night. His name is Antonio.
Host Bert
His name is Antonio. He should be terrific.
Wendy
He is gorgeous and he's Latin, so he's gonna teach me the jive.
Bird Show Host
Antonio.
Wendy
And he works at daza dance up in Alpharetta, up in Johns Creek. Met Last night. But they do something similar to dancing with the stars on Friday nights, where they have a huge dance party where it's like from 8 to midnight, and everyone just gets together, drinks wine, and everyone, like, sort of has their moment on the dance floor. So watching people and you're drinking, having a good party time.
Jen
So is it the people that have been in class there for a while, like people that are really good at it, or people that just learn that night?
Wendy
Anything. And, like, however long experience.
Jen
It's kind of fun.
Wendy
But it's open to the public. So we were talking last night about doing this whole jive dance and learning. And we were talking about doing. Learning Monday through Thursday and then performing on Friday night, But inviting people to the party on Friday night.
Melissa
Because one of the things we said with Wendy is if you want to be like dancing with the stars, we have to involve some kind of audience.
Bird Show Host
Has to be a live audience. There's a nervous factor. I mean, she was just in a. In a studio dancing with the instructor. Not nearly as nervous as Kate gosselin was in front of millions of millions of people.
Wendy
Well, even in here, if we brought in a couple of people, like 10 people, 15 people, no big deal. Especially if there are people around the office that I see every day.
Host Bert
If you're wearing high heels and dancing, you're gonna have every regular guy plastered right up against the glass of that room. You'll have an audience.
Wendy
And that's not nerve wracking. But when we were talking, she doesn't notice them. I mean, these are people, obviously I see every day. So if it's like professional dancers that are gonna be at this party because they do it every Friday. So these are professional dancers. These are students of professional dancers that have been taking lessons for months and months. Because this is a huge stage. This is the biggest in the southeast that I found out last night. So they teach ballroom dancing all day long 24 7. So this will be.
Bird Show Host
You're in good hands with Antonio.
Wendy
Oh, love him already. No, but these are.
Melissa
You're gonna have an affair with your instructor.
Jen
Romance rumors.
Wendy
I mean, that's okay.
Bird Show Host
She's not close to the other.
Wendy
Absolutely.
Melissa
Whatever it takes for good art.
Jen
No, but we would.
Wendy
We would learn that starting on Monday. So there would be no practice this weekend, no practice today. We would start on Monday. So it's fair. And everything is like Kate gosling. So start on Monday, go through Thursday learning the jive. And then on Friday night is when I would perform for anybody who wants to come out it is open to the general public. Anybody who wants to come out, they have wine, they have beer, and it's just a fun party. And then I would do a dance on Friday night.
Bird Show Host
Okay.
Caller
Now.
Bird Show Host
And then they. We would video it there.
Jen
Absolutely.
Bird Show Host
Monday, we put that video up online.
Caller
Okay.
Jen
I like that idea.
Host Bert
If you're not going to be able to practice eight hours a day, Monday through Thursday, so you could technically start. Cause it's 32 hours, so you should. I mean, if it were me, I would milk out every hour I could.
Jen
Did you start last night at all?
Wendy
Nope. We just talked last night.
Bird Show Host
She just looked at him last night.
Host Bert
Oh, I know.
Melissa
I watched his mouth.
Wendy
I got the grand tour of the ballroom last night. It was great. No, I actually tried on a pair of dancing shoes, and it's just bizarre because normally when women go and buy shoes, they're a little bit loose, so you can walk around in them. These have to be tight. Like, they have to be tight on your feet so your ankle won't break. And I had no idea about that.
Bird Show Host
But these aren't the shoes that you will be dancing in next Friday night. So you have to somehow make the transition.
Wendy
No, these will be the shoes.
Bird Show Host
They are.
Wendy
They're gonna be the shoes. So they're heels. Like, I am dancing the jive in heels. Like, little bitty heel.
Melissa
Just like Kate Gosselin.
Wendy
Just like Kate Gosselin. But it'll be in front of professional dancers, which made me a little more nervous than dancing in front of every one of my co workers.
Jen
Do you have to wear one of those sexy outfits?
Wendy
They have them there.
Spinquest Announcer
Yeah, Yeah.
Wendy
I had to wear an outfit. I had to do the entire thing.
Jen
Gosselin thing. I like it.
Bird Show Host
So they have the outfits there for you to purchase or whatever also.
Wendy
Oh, yeah, they have the outfits ready to go. I can choose one. And then, of course, I'm gonna go get an airbrush tan. Like all the dancing with the.
Melissa
I like the element too. Like she said, there's professionals in the room, you know, because that's very similar to Dancing with the Stars. There's professionals, and the judges are all professional dancers.
Bird Show Host
So we'll invite Bert show listeners to come on out there if they want to spend a couple of hours also. So there'll be a certain element of audience and people you don't know also.
Wendy
Absolutely.
Jen
You're gonna be busting your butt next week, aren't you?
Wendy
I actually got a little more nervous once he said that idea. I'm like, no, no, no, no, no.
Bird Show Host
No, no, that's a great idea. It's turnkey for us. Very easy.
Melissa
Yeah.
Wendy
So we'll have Rhett maybe follow day by day just like they do on Dancing with the Stars, to see if there's any fights going on with me and Antonio or the Affair or whatever.
Caller
Yeah.
Jen
Keep that hot chemistry that you cannot deny.
Bird Show Host
What's the name of this ballroom studio again?
Wendy
It's Daza Dance, and it's up in Johns Creek.
Bird Show Host
Daza Dance.
Melissa
Daza Dance with Antonio. All right, perfect.
Bird Show Host
So you got next week, and the video will go up next Monday.
Bert
Yes.
Bird Show Host
Okay.
Bert
Very good.
Wendy
I'm excited.
Bird Show Host
The bird show.
Bert

The Bird Show Here is Mandy. Good morning, Mandy. You are on Q100.
Caller
Good morning.
Bird Show Host
How are you?
Caller
Well, I'm okay.
Bird Show Host
Well, you sound like you have your, your tail between your legs.
Mandy
Yeah, I'm a little worried about what to do here.
Melissa
All right, so what happened?
Mandy
Okay, so I moved out of town for a while for work and I kept in touch with my friends, but not that close because we weren't in the same city. We weren't spending time together. But I came back at the beginning of this year for work and you know, I met this guy that was just a hookup guy. I mean, it's fun. I met him at a, I was out with. We have this thing after work at a restaurant on Thursdays and he was there. Anyway, so I started hooking up with him and I'll just. He's the kind of guy that I'll call if I have a couple of drinks, you know, But I don't have really any expectations of him or really wanted to go any farther. Like we're not dating, we're just hooking up. And then I was getting together with one of my friends who was like my best friend when I was living in Atlanta before. And we were, we were catching up, I didn't really know all this stuff. And she started telling me about this guy that she was so upset over because it didn't work out with him. And she's like, it was a while ago, but she can't let it go. And it just upsets her so much. And I'm finding out as she's describing that it's the same guy, which I can't kind of believe. Because what are the chances of being unrelated that I met him? So now I feel like I kind of want to still hook up with him. They're not together anymore or anything like that. But at the same time, I sort of feel bad. Like, did I just stop hooking up with him because she hates him so much and he hurt her, you know,
Host Bert
and it's not a serious thing for you, so.
Mandy
But still, no, it's not a serious thing for me. I like it. I like it a lot. I like having someone to call.
Wendy
But how good of a friend is this? Because she's eventually going to find out.
Mandy
When I was. When I was living here before, we were really, like, best friends, we did everything together.
Melissa
Okay.
Mandy
And we did kind of fall out of touch, and we would just, you know, say, hey, here and there, like on Facebook or something like that.
Bird Show Host
So this is not a girl that you'll see or talk to once a week?
Mandy
Well, I think that I probably. I would, because I like to be close to her again.
Jen
But it's just not. It's not back to where it was before quite yet.
Mandy
Well, no, you know, like, when I got back, I was still just getting settled in with the job, and, like, I'm just getting back in touch with her now.
Jen
I'm surprised that while she's describing this guy like, that you didn't tell her right then in the conversation, like, oh, my God, could have nipped this in the bud immediately. Cause I'm wondering, like, which part of the story or which revelation did it finally click to you that this was the same guy? Like, obviously, same first name. And then, like, what detail was it that she shared where you went? This is the same dude.
Mandy
I think it was when she said where he worked.
Jen
Okay. Okay.
Mandy
There's also, like, some things about him, like, describing him.
Jen
I'm just surprised that you didn't say it right there in the moment. Like, omg, what in the world? I can't believe this happened. Because that'd be really hard to keep that poker face.
Host Bert
Do you think the friend already knows?
Mandy
Do you think she does at all?
Jen
You don't think she don't hold back like that? No. Especially if it's her Antichrist. Yeah, that would be as soon as she found out. Her first phone call would be to Mandy.
Bird Show Host
Here is Jackie. Good morning, Jackie. You are part of the Burke show. Hello.
Caller
Hi, guys. How are y'?
Mandy
All?
Bird Show Host
Okay, thanks.
Caller
She needs to leave it alone. And I'm talking from experience. Two things make sure that he doesn't know, because that Would be, like, a huge notch for him.
Bird Show Host
Mm, sure.
Caller
Make sure he doesn't know second. I've been through this. Just. It's not worth it if just. It's. Her wonderfulness is your, like, hookup, so leave it alone. You're gonna lose a friend for nothing, for booty call.
Bird Show Host
What are the chances that you and this guy are gonna be really long term? You guys are in the beginning of this relationship. So many different things can still go wrong at this point. If you really, really respect your friendship, then you'll just dump this guy and not think twice about it.
Mandy
Yeah.
Melissa
And there's a part of me, too, that I would take it as a red flag. Like, if she was in a relationship with him and he ended up being the Antichrist, there's a part of me he's, like, really in a relationship. He may, you know, kind of be a jerk, so why. Why even pursue it?
Bird Show Host
Of course, you never know what she did to spawn.
Melissa
But in my mind, I would think, you know, maybe. Maybe he's not this great guy.
Bird Show Host
Hey, Kerry, good morning.
Caller
Hey, hey, hey, Carrie show.
Bird Show Host
What's up?
Spinquest Announcer
Good morning, y'.
Lady Luck
All.
Bird Show Host
What's going on?
Caller
Okay, either the friend knows or the guy knows. I think they do. And the friend is just kind of passively, aggressively trying to get her to not date him.
Host Bert
Somebody knows the guy. That has nothing to do with anything.
Caller
What did you say?
Host Bert
I said, I don't know. Like, why would you say the guy knows?
Caller
Like, I don't know. I mean, my first thought is that the friend knows.
Jen
Really?
Caller
Dating her ex. And, I mean, regardless if the guy's an Antichrist, you still don't want your homegirl to be dating your ex, you
Mandy
know, So I think she.
Jen
She definitely would not want that, but I don't think she would be passive aggressive about it. Somebody that makes you that emotional that, you know, they broke up a while ago, and she's still so hung up on it that she's telling her friend who just came back into town about it. She doesn't know. There's no way that her friend knows. The.
Host Bert
It's possible, though, to have an Antichrist in your life that you never really dated. You know what I mean?
Jen
Like, oh, God, I had friends in college that were that way about guys that they just, like, chose to be obsessed with.
Bird Show Host
Right. And the guy didn't really do anything? No, he just wasn't involved. Yeah.
Jen
He was never in a relationship with them.
Host Bert
You hook up? Yeah, Hook up once at a bar.
Jen
Yes.
Host Bert
And then you're like, oh, my God. We gotta go back to, you know, Moondogs, because Bird's gonna be there. We gotta go, we gotta go. And then they hover around. You see this girl, they end up
Bird Show Host
crying at 2:30 in the morning.
Host Bert
Right? Because you didn't. Because you never talked to her yet. You didn't even know they were there to see you. So if that was the situation, then I think, Mandy, here's. You keep doing what you're doing. It doesn't matter.
Wendy
It just depends.
Bird Show Host
Hey, Kate. Good morning. You're on the Burt Show.
Caller
Good morning. I love you guys.
Mandy
Thank you.
Caller
So this almost the same exact situation happened to me earlier this year. And it's actually my roommate who I've known since, like, first grade. And she went to Georgia with a guy and hooked up with him for about three years there. And I knew this, and when I moved here, I became friends with him and floor that I wouldn't, you know, let anything happen, but of course it did. And we ended up hooking up for about three months. And I didn't tell her. And then I just felt so guilty about it that one day I just sat down and started bawling. And it ended up working out fine because she. She told me, you know, you know, he's actually an awful guy, so it's fine that you're dating him now. And. And, I mean, I'm not dating him now, but we just kind of made amends with it and it worked out well for everyone.
Melissa
All right.
Bird Show Host
Thank you for calling. What did she say?
Wendy
Well, yeah, she was dating her friend Antichrist, and then it ended up not working out. But the friend was happy she was dating him.
Melissa
Yeah, she said, he's a jerk, so you can have him.
Bird Show Host
I think you just got to define how much you really dig this guy and how much you define, you know, how deep your friendship is with this girl. I mean, it's a pretty slam dunk decision.
Melissa
You can't successfully have both.
Bird Show Host
No.
Wendy
No.
Bird Show Host
Ain't gonna happen.
Mandy
Okay. I guess I see what you're saying. Yeah. Okay.
Bird Show Host
Okay. Mandy, thank you so much.
Mandy
Thank you.
Host Bert
She's not gonna do anything about it.
Bird Show Host
Yeah, no, I felt empty by that whole conversation. I don't know that I even followed it correctly from the beginning because it didn't seem like that big a deal. Seemed like a pretty easy decision.
Melissa
Yeah. I'm not sure why she's so conflicted.
Host Bert
Well, I guarantee if we call her back one week from today, she's still gonna be seeing the. Yeah, of course. Yeah.
Jen
Sometimes the hookup is that good, Bert.
Wendy
You just need it.
Bird Show Host
Well, then you don't call a radio
Host Bert
station and an ass.
Bird Show Host
You know, it's that good. Don't call us. Keep going back. Probably not gonna happen again for a while.
Melissa
Don Discourage people from calling us with their drama.
Bird Show Host

Bird Show Host
The Bird show so this is a kind of a watershed moment here for. Could be for gen hobby this year. I mean, this is a big one right here.
Jen
I guess it's a big one. I just don't feel nervous about it at all. So I don't feel like it's as huge of a deal as it has been in the past. I have a new boyfriend and we are going together to New York this weekend. It's actually my brother's birthday and my family's plan was to go to New York and that's where my brother lives and celebrate because he's turning 30. So it's a big one. And so that has been the plan since December or whatever. So December is when we started dating and things have gotten more serious. So he's coming with me to meet my entire family, the whole fam damily. It's gonna be all at one time. So he gets to meet mom and dad and brother and my brother's girlfriend, like all at one time. And I've never been less nervous about the whole scenario.
Bird Show Host
Yeah, you sort of have to know something about Jen's new boyfriend to make it seem like it makes sense that she's not nervous. The dude is really like. I mean, he's Pleasantville.
Melissa
He is Pleasantville.
Bird Show Host
He's like, he's a prince. Yes, he really is.
Melissa
There's nothing to be nervous about.
Bird Show Host
The dude is a damn prince.
Jen
Yeah, well, we talked about this early, like a couple of months ago when we first started dating, how in my past I have dated, you know, the typical, like, bad boys or whatever or whatever. And that's why it was an adjustment to start dating him because he's a really, really good guy. And so things have progressed and it's not hard to take a good guy home to mom and dad, you know,
Bird Show Host
because you already know that he's gonna say the right things. If there's anything on, like, that even feels like it's gonna be a debate in politics, you know that this guy is gonna be able to sort of work his way around.
Melissa
He's just Carkage, man.
Bird Show Host
He's Clark Kent.
Melissa
You're taking Clark Kent home.
Bird Show Host
That's what we should nickname him. That's his new name.
Wendy
Clark.
Jen
Clark Kent.
Wendy
Clark Kent.
Melissa
Clark Kent.
Bird Show Host
She is. This is so safe.
Jen
I'm dating Superman.
Melissa
Yes.
Bird Show Host
This is so safe.
Jen
Yeah, well, and it's not just that. It's just that I know he's a good person and it's just like, comes from such a genuine place.
Melissa
It's like Superman.
Jen
And I think that. Yeah. And I think that parents can see that, you know, better than anybody. Parents can see, like, whether a guy's being genuine or what a guy's intention is, or if there's somebody that your parents want you to spend time with or not. And I know, I just know genuinely that they're gonna get along great and it's gonna be like so simple. Like, I'm so not nervous about it. I'm excited about it. I'm definitely excited about it because this relationship is moving very fast. So I feel like I need to get my parents up to speed.
Bird Show Host
Yeah. Cause you're gonna be engaged by Wednesday, maybe this weekend.
Host Bert
He's gonna be around your dad.
Bird Show Host
Very romantic. New York City. Yeah.
Jen
It's moving quickly. So I need my. I need my parents to be on board.
Host Bert
What if they're not on board? Like, what if you're not? Like, what if you're not?
Jen
At this stage in my life, having been married before, I think they would be very honest with me very quickly.
Host Bert
And what if. What if.
Jen
Because you know, they have. They.
Host Bert
What if. What if their honesty was. There's just something about him. He's too. He's just too nice. There's nobody is that perfect.
Jen
Yeah, we don't trust him from the Midwest. Of course he's that nice. He's a good Midwestern.
Bird Show Host
What happens if they see he's great and they say, jan, we just got a warning about this guy. There's just something about this guy we just don't trust. But every instinct you have says, go for it.
Melissa
Nobody's that perfect.
Jen
No, he's not perfect. He wouldn't have a feeling.
Host Bert
What are his flaws?
Bird Show Host
That he's too perfect?
Melissa
Well, he's got six toes on one foot, but he can't help it.
Jen
How did you know?
Melissa
Just saying.
Host Bert
The engagement ring he picked out was white gold and she wanted platinum, but other than that, he's fine. And he wears his pants a little high waisted, but she's working on it.
Bird Show Host
I'M wondering if we could take calls here for horrible first impressions for your parents, but that the relationship survived. Okay, so somehow, some way, like, I could tell you the first time that I met Stacy's dad, I was hammered. He was walking out of his apartment and I was walking in and I could barely stand, and I didn't know he was going to be over there. And it was one of those instant sort of judgments when you're drunk. And I said. I literally said to him, I don't want to do this right now because I'm drunk.
Melissa
Well, at least you're honest.
Bird Show Host
I was honest. And I think I got points for that.
Melissa
Yeah, I would give you points for that.
Bird Show Host
I said, I can't do this right now because I'm just too drunk. Let's do this tomorrow. And he sort of laughed it off. And I think everything went well after that. But I'm wondering who's listening right now. That had a horrible first impression. Horrible first impression with the parents, but the relationship ended up surviving it anyway. Because somehow, some way, something could happen this weekend. But I am confident this relationship is strong.
Mandy
Yeah.
Jen
Yeah. I don't think. I don't think that there will be anything that'll come up this weekend, but maybe. I mean, it could be. I'm just. Maybe something will come up this weekend because I'm so not worried about it. You know what I mean? Like, I'm just so laid back about it. Like, I have no concerns whatsoever. I'm just really excited about it. And I think there's something to the fact that his birthday is this weekend. My boyfriend's birthday is this weekend too, so. And my dad's was just a few days ago. The fact that, like, I don't know why, and I'm not typically, like, with like, signs and like the zodiac, whatever, but like, I think there's something to it that my dad's. His and my brother's birthdays are, like, all very close together.
Melissa
Are you counting his birthday when he came down from Krypton, or are you talking about when he was actually born on Krypton? I'm just curious.
Host Bert
Now, I've heard about this, but how
Jen
does it work on Superman's birthday if
Host Bert
the guys birthdays are close together? They all kiss the same. Is that true?
Melissa
Oh, Jeff.
Jen
Really, Jeff?
Melissa
That's the best you could come up with?
Jen
Come on, dude.
Bird Show Host
For real. Good morning, Q100. You're on the Burt show, huh?
Caller
My mom totally hated my husband when they first met.
Mandy
Okay.
Bird Show Host
Really? That was it.
Host Bert
This is Joanna Screening and calls. Hey, listen, here's what I want you to say, and then just move along.
Jen
Keep it quick.
Melissa
One sentence. I gotta get through the calls.
Jen
Come on, Click.
Host Bert
All right, I'm gonna put you through, but you've got four seconds.
Bird Show Host
Good.
Melissa
I oddly want to know the rest of that story.
Bird Show Host
Good morning, April. You're on Q100.
Caller
Hi. When my dad met my husband, we were naked.
Host Bert
Click.
Caller
Yeah, he walked in and we were butt naked.
Bert
No.
Melissa
And my dad.
Caller
I was like. I was introducing him. And my husband's voice has never been deeper when he was like, hello, Nice to meet you.
Melissa
Oh, my God.
Bird Show Host
You think it doesn't get any more awkward than that? Here's Lee. Good Morning. You're on Q100.
Caller
Hi. Now, husband. The first time my mother met him is because she came home early from a dinner with a friend and we were upstairs in my bedroom having sex.
Bird Show Host
Oh, wow. I can't think of a word.
Caller
I told her I was chilling in the house, and she said in the dark. He was really embarrassed. I really wasn't.
Bird Show Host
I can't think of a worse way to start it off than if your dad walks. You're having sex with his little girl right there.
Jen
Oh, God.
Bird Show Host
Joanna. Producer Joanna did want to make this observation that you didn't deny that her and Grant would be engaged soon. And she said it was really obvious.
Jen
I did not deny that.
Bird Show Host
You did not deny that.
Melissa
Knew it. Called it six months ago.
Bluff
Get it?
Bird Show Host
The Bird Show. I was just telling these guys I was at the Hawks game last night and T.I. was there.
Melissa
Yeah.
Bird Show Host
And I'm not. How long has he been out of jail now?
Melissa
December.
Host Bert
No, no.
Jen
Like a week.
Host Bert
Like a week or two.
Melissa
Why am I thinking December? I mean, he's gone under house arrest. Halfway house. Halfway house. Since when?
Host Bert
Probably December.
Mandy
Ish.
Melissa
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. He wasn't in prison, you know, since.
Host Bert
But he still can't leave. He's in a house now. He's. Now he can go out from, like, 8am to 10pm he was at the
Bird Show Host
Hawks game last night. And if I didn't know it was TI And I had no idea who it was, and I lined and I watched him and I observed 10 other people. I would say, that guy right there, who's TI Is the happiest guy I've ever seen in my life.
Melissa
Really?
Bird Show Host
He was smiling ear to ear. He's hugging people. Dude was so happy. He was like, the mayor of the Hawks game last night.
Jen
I've seen him at Hawks games before. Like, you know, before he went to prison, whatever. He is a major Hawks family. He's very passionate fan. He gets like way into the games and it's like really, really like high energy about the whole thing.
Bird Show Host
He was happy last night. I mean smiling ear to ear.
Jen
He was excited to see people.
Bert
Yeah.
Melissa
Staring at himself in the mirror.
Bird Show Host
Jeff raised an interesting point because I left right in the, in the fourth and TI was still there. But Jeff thinks that he probably has to be home by like 10 o'.
Bluff
Clock.
Host Bert
Yeah. Because somebody sent me a text message. He was at Twist a couple nights ago and somebody sent a text and said, hey, TI is at Twist. You should go down, try to get him on the show. Then that follow up text was, but get there by nine. He has a curfew, which might be true.
Bird Show Host
I didn't see if he was still there or not at the end of
Host Bert
the game, which is, I mean, I, you know, no matter how cool you are, Even if you're T.I. an adult with a curfew is funny.
Bird Show Host
Well, he's got a good reason. Yeah, he's got a real good reason. Listen, it's the virt show.
Bert

Bird Show Host
This is the Bird show. You guys remember a while back when we were talking about was it Glamour magazine that put a. Is it full size model?
Melissa
I guess like them, right?
Bird Show Host
Full size model for that kind of magazine in Glamour magazine. And everybody was sort of applauding that they did it because she wasn't super, super skinny. You guys remember this?
Melissa
We debated it back and forth a little bit.
Bird Show Host
A little bit of a pooch going on. It was a little controversial because I think they said this is like an average woman.
Jen
She was still like a size eight. Right.
Bird Show Host
So there were some that were still upset about that.
Jen
Like a very fit, beautiful size eight. And the average woman is 12.
Melissa
Yeah.
Bird Show Host
So we debated it for a little bit and it turns out we can deb again here. 404-741-Q100. This came out a couple of days ago. Dove's real beauty ad campaigns are heralded as groundbreaking forays into being a bit more realistic about how women look. My wife loves those ads too. Loves those. And then we just talked about the Glamour magazine also. But according to a new study by the University of Arizona Ads featuring bigger models don't actually make most women feel very good about themselves. According to this research here. Larger women feel better about themselves when ads don't include any models at all. Average sized ladies actually have lower self esteem after looking at ads with plus size models rather than uber skinny ones. And thin folks prefer traditional tiny models.
Jen
Weird guys.
Bird Show Host
Got anything on that?
Jen
I wonder why that is. I don't. Maybe it's a. That we want to look at some sort of far off goal and not reality. I don't know. Like we would prefer to look at fantasy rather than reality.
Bird Show Host
Let me read that one more time.
Jen
Surprises me.
Bird Show Host
Larger women feel better about themselves when ads don't include any models at all.
Melissa
I can understand that. Show me the product.
Bird Show Host
Right. Average size ladies actually have lower self esteem after looking at ads with plus size models rather than uber skinny ones. Like surprising and thin folks prefer the traditional tiny models.
Wendy
Maybe because it's like a reflection of you. If you see a plus size model and maybe you're. You're like that's me.
Host Bert
It's a reminder.
Wendy
A reminder of how you look.
Bird Show Host
So it doesn't.
Wendy
Or how you think you look.
Bird Show Host
But. But if the plus size model is in the magazines as an ad, wouldn't that psychologically make you feel better about yourself? That if she's in there, then someone like me can be in there. Maybe I don't look so bad. Maybe I look good, maybe.
Wendy
But I mean it's always nice to see somewhat of a goal. Like we're always trying to get in shape and be better about our body. So we want to look like the thinner model. But if we see a plus size model, I think sometimes it's a reflection on who we are.
Jen
Yeah.
Melissa
It's funny because when I look at it as like the Dove ads, I pay attention because they're different because they have the women in it. But I don't pay attention to. Because everybody looks fake. Men and women. When there's models in any. In ads. Like when you. When you said I could, I would be the one that says I prefer it without any people in it whatsoever. If you have a dog or baby, that's cute. But if you have men or women, I think the men look fake. I think the women look fake. I mean they don't really help sell a product for me.
Jen
Have you guys seen the new. It's a tampon ad with the model.
Wendy
Oh yes, I love that.
Jen
It aired on American Idol the other night where she says I'm racially ambiguous. So you'll identify with me no matter what demographic you're a part of. And it's like this whole thing behind
Bird Show Host
the scenes, like, being real about.
Jen
Yeah, like, being really real. I'll find it online, see if it's on YouTube or something. We'll link over it to. From the website. But it's like completely breaking down the walls of advertising because she says, like, everything.
Wendy
My hair is nice long and flowy. Like, don't you want to be like me? Exactly.
Melissa
Makeup is perfect.
Jen
My skin looks really funny. I saw it the other night. I was like, that is a great ad. You know?
Bird Show Host
Hey, Sheri, I'll talk to you about this in just one second. Let me just finish this thing up. Okay?
Caller
Okay.
Bird Show Host
Says the study did, however, come up with one icky way bigger models can be used to actually influence product sales. Not gonna like this. If a normal size woman sees moderately heavy images in ads for weight loss products, she might feel overweight and be more inclined to buy a diet plan or gym membership. So basically use plus size models to make women feel bad enough about themselves that they spend more money on gym memberships and diet products.
Jen
That's messed up.
Melissa
Yeah, I. I don't know. I mean, I just. I feel. I don't know. I guess I just don't see plus size models as being a bad image or a making somebody feel bad about themselves. I. I don't know. I don't understand the whole.
Jen
Yeah, I don't understand that study result.
Bird Show Host
I actually told you guys, man, this is the first time I've ever said this, but to my wife, the other day we were watching. I forget it might have been American Idol. And that new Victoria's Secret ad came on with all the girls are like, you know, they're all, they're all in their new Victoria's Secret stuff. Hair's flowing and all. And. And they each say, I love my body. I love my body. And I literally looked over to my wife and I said, they're too skinny. Like, the ads now on TV are way too skinny.
Melissa
I want to see women's ads. They're like beer ads for guys. Like, just a group of women hanging out, having fun and using a product. Like, do you have to be like, even in razor commercials, women are in the tub. Like, they're having this. It's almost 8:30. They're having a adult experience while they're shaving their legs in this music place. Like, we don't shave our legs like that. And everything we do when we do our gi. And when we do Our hair. Like it's just like we're always touching ourselves. No, we're not. We want to have a good time. So I want to see an ad with women in a bar where the one girl's skinny, one girl's fat. Who cares? They're just having a good time instead. Because maybe that's the fake part to me is that women are expressionless, they are shallow looking. Even in print ads or on commercials.
Jen
Always sexualized.
Melissa
Always sexualized. Just be normal. Like just, just be having a good time doing something. You're either always having sex with a product or you're, you're running around with your children in the house like you're either a mother, you know, or somebody who is having an adult experience. But you're not just normal girl.
Bird Show Host
Hey, Sherry. Good morning. Thanks for holding on.
Caller
No problem. It's really. To me, it seems kind of easy to explain. The reason that the skinny women feel. Well, the skinny women allow the bigger women to feel okay is because it's a fake representation. Like we can say that's not reality. So it's not going to affect the way I feel about myself because I know that these people don't eat, they probably have personal trainers, there's all kinds of touch ups going on. So why should I feel about, bad about something that isn't real to begin with? But then they take the bigger women and they have them model. But these are bigger women who are confident, who are trained in how to pose properly. And so there's this confidence that comes through that normal women just don't have. So it kind of goes back to what Melissa just said. It's never the normal woman. So the bigger woman says, okay, she's the same size as me, but I still can't look like that. But she can't look, look like that because when you probably could, but you just don't have the confidence.
Bird Show Host
It's exhausting.
Melissa
I just want to buy a razor. Just tell me if the razor will cut the hair off my leg.
Host Bert
We'll get the one that gives you an orgasm.
Bluff
That's the good.
Melissa
I mean, they came out with a vibrating razor one time. I said, are you freaking kidding me?
Jen
No, that's not gonna not give you bumps. Oh my God, just tell me the razor. That's not gonna give me razor burn.
Melissa
And you know, quit treating me like a. I'm stupid. Just tell me what the product is. And I don't want to think about whether a girl, a girl looks good or looks bad or she's fat. Or she's too skinny. Just try to sell me a product and treat me with respect.
Bird Show Host
Hey, Tiffany. Good morning. Your partner, the Birch Show.
Mandy
Hey.
Caller
I was just gonna say I am a bigger girl. And when I see the ads with bigger women in it, even though I'm the same size as them, they're still more beautiful. It still looks airbrushed and all this stuff. And for me, seeing a skinnier woman, I feel like that's a little more unobtainable for me. So I feel better seeing that, knowing that I can't obtain that. But even though I'm looking at a bigger model, it's just so. It's still, you know, it's like it's
Jen
so far away that you can write it off that it doesn't matter, but if it's closer to you, make fun
Caller
of it, you know?
Jen
Okay, I can understand that.
Melissa
Even if they're still coming from, like. I guess that's the thing is like, you know, Bert, we always talk about, you know, when you're. When you're realizing that women think about their image so much, it's because yet you're selling me soap and I got to think about my body. You're selling me a candy bar and I gotta think about my body. You're selling me, I mean, everything that I'm looking at, you're trying to tell me how I look, you know? And I just. God. You know, gum, like, gum is like I'm blowing the icy cold into your face with the wind blowing in my hair. Because even chewing gum is a sexual experience.
Caller
Give me a break.
Host Bert
Somebody give Melissa some gum.
Melissa
I know.
Bird Show Host
This is the Bird show.

Part 1 of this Bert Show “Vault” episode is a prime example of their honest, funny, and community-driven approach. It contains a memorable mix of relatable anxieties (passwords, friendships, body image), unique personal and pop-culture challenges (dancing, relationships), and candid conversations with listeners. Laughter, insight, and warmth mark the show’s tone, with clear takeaways: protect your digital self, think before risking friendships, own your choices, and, above all, don’t believe everything in an ad—especially about what makes you feel good.
