Radio Host (Burt)
The Birch show the parking lot was starting to get full already with women that wanted to meet Donnie Wahlberg. I gotta meet him. He's my destiny. And Jordan Knight as well, in studio this morning. How are you guys?
Jordan Knight
Very well.
Donnie Wahlberg
The first girl who greeted me came running up with a Jordan Knight T shirt.
Radio Host (Burt)
Oh, oh, oh, check this out.
Jordan Knight
Somebody had a box of Dunkin donuts and I went and grabbed a donut out of the box and they go, that's Donny's.
Radio Host (Burt)
No. Has that been happening to you guys over like 20 something years now where fans get locked on to one of you? It's like they call dibs on you.
Donnie Wahlberg
It's, it's like, it's like they share. You know what I mean? It's like.
Radio Show Contributor
No, they're very territorial.
Radio Host (Burt)
They are.
Donnie Wahlberg
No, they're territorial. Like, if me and Jordan walk downstairs and the girl with the Jordan T shirt runs over to me, then one of the girls with a Donny T shirt might say, hey, back off. But they. They. It's an equal opportunity fan base, believe me. It's like, I did a show last week in Canada and the half the crowd had on Joe McIntyre T shirts. It's, you know, it's. It's all new kids, first and foremost. You know what I mean? We all may have other fans outside of it, whatever, from different things, solo projects or acting or whatever, but, you know, it's all. It's all new kids, all in the family. It's all in the family, always.
Radio Host (Burt)
I know we say this every time you guys are in, but seriously, you have. And I'm going. I'm racking my brain trying to sort of dismiss this theory, but I really do believe you guys have the most hardcore fans.
Radio Show Contributor
Really?
Out of anybody.
Radio Host (Burt)
Yeah, out of anybody that we ever have in here. It's you guys. I mean, it's calls. I'm sure by the time we're done here, we'll get calls from Australia and Germany. I got an email this morning from somebody in Kuwait.
Donnie Wahlberg
Yeah, you guys are worldwide today, for sure.
Radio Host (Burt)
For sure. I mean, you can track that kind of thing. And your fans are just so hardcore, man.
Donnie Wahlberg
Yeah, I think we've evolved into more like a younger version of the Grateful Dead or something with our fans. And I mean that in the best of ways. You know, it's like the Grateful Dead eventually. I mean, I think they have one hit record in history, but we've had a few more. But. But they, you know, their fans were very loyal, and it was. It was an experience, you know, for the fans and the band together. There was a. It was a sort of a culture. And I certainly don't want to compare us loosely to the Grateful Dead, but I think we sort of have a similar thing going with our fans where there's a real relationship between the band and the fans.
Radio Show Contributor
It's just. Minus the mushrooms in the parking lot.
Radio Host (Burt)
Yeah, maybe he's got the glasses on. We can't tell with the sunglasses on. Do you think, as a general statement, that bands today don't go out of their way to make that connection with fans the way that you guys have for 20 something years?
Jordan Knight
Maybe some younger groups, maybe that have just acquired, you know, just fresh on the scene, they might take it for granted. I mean, we've done it for so long. We've been away and we came back, so we don't take it for granted. You know, we treat our fans really well.
Radio Host (Burt)
Did you take it for granted back in the day?
Jordan Knight
Not actually. Not so much. But personally, I have a lot more fun with the fans now than I did before. Before, it was just like I was very young and almost shell shocked. So now I'm just, like, a lot more relaxed with it, and I have a lot of fun.
Radio Show Contributor
Plus, there's different ways to engage with them. Like, y' all are both actively engaged with them.
Donnie Wahlberg
Crack. Computer crack, AKA Twitter.
Radio Show Contributor
Yeah, you guys are all over Twitter and talking back and forth, and it's like you write back to somebody and you've made their world.
Donnie Wahlberg
Well, it's really an amazing thing. I mean, I used to tell a story of I met a baseball player when I was younger. Well, I didn't meet him. He drove right past me, and. And I was kind of heartbroken, and I didn't think. I was probably 10 years old, 11 years old at the time. I didn't think I'd ever really be famous. But I always made a mental note, if I ever became famous, I would try to never do that. And Twitter is, like, the way to really do that. It's like, I mean, just with a simple typing of one word, I can touch someone over and over again throughout the course of the day. And Jordan does it hardcore. And a lot of the guys in the group are really engaged in it. And I think it's. It's an amazing way to communicate with fans. It's an amazing way to network and to stay dialed in. And look, I mean, both of us are here probably today because of Twitter. I mean, we've had so much fun with it since the tour ended. During the tour, but since it ended, we've stayed so engaged with the fans through Twitter, and, like, we get feedback from them and, you know, they want to see someone. If Jordan's in a town, I mean, Jordan's whole thing he's doing here sort of evolved, you know, having fun with the fans. I mean, he can tell it better than I can, but, you know, I'm observing it through Twitter, like, wow. You know, it's like, it's. You know, it's like. I mean, I went in the studio and recorded a song sort of for fun, and I was tweeting about it, and the fans were like, we want to hear that song now. And I was like, okay. And then it's like, I'll play it for you in two weeks, you know? And it's like, then the countdown begins. And it's like. It's. It's all really just through communicating with the fans. I mean, that's why we're both here today. It's amazing.
Radio Show Contributor
Let's talk about the downside of that, because let's say a radio station decided they didn't like the word hot Lanta.
Radio Host (Burt)
Oh, Jordan, here we go.
Radio Show Contributor
It's uncomfortable.
And let's say one person. Let's say one person who is coming into that radio station, Jordan, use the word hotlanta in a tweet.
Jordan Knight
I didn't know. I had no idea.
Radio Show Contributor
And then let's say that the newspaper heard me read your tweet on the air and said, church Jeff Dollar called out Jordan Knight.
Jordan Knight
Right, right, right.
Radio Show Contributor
And then let's say Jordan tweets that to his followers.
Jordan Knight
I only just. I retweeted the article.
Radio Show Contributor
Dude, they didn't burn my house down.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
I didn't even.
Radio Show Contributor
All I read was your tweet. And all of a sudden, people are like, hey, we got Jeff Dollar's the
Radio Host (Burt)
biggest ass in Atlanta.
Jordan Knight
You just opened up a discussion. That's all you did.
Radio Host (Burt)
That's all you did.
Jordan Knight
And I asked around, and I was in the studio two nights ago after the article, and I. I said, there's a bunch of guys in the studio. And I said, yo, can I say, like, hotlanta? And they were all like, no,
Radio Host (Burt)
it's corny.
Jordan Knight
Don't say it. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I said, all right, I won't say
Radio Host (Burt)
it'd be a little.
Jordan Knight
But everybody outside of Atlantic, they. They use it freely.
Radio Host (Burt)
And that's where we can use you. Right? That's where we can use you and your celebrity. Here's what we're asking.
Jordan Knight
Not hot here.
Radio Host (Burt)
Not today, for sure.
Jordan Knight
But. But so what. What do you call it?
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
Yeah.
Radio Host (Burt)
Or the.
Radio Show Contributor
A.
Radio Host (Burt)
Anything but hot. Lana. Here's. And. And you brought up a great point. Because here's our point is that here in Atlanta, we don't refer to ourselves as Hotlanta. Like, you don't refer to yourself.
Donnie Wahlberg
They did that. Most, a lot of it did refer themselves back in the day for sure.
Radio Show Contributor
Right now it's Atlas.
Donnie Wahlberg
It's kind of like. That's actually like 20 years old, right?
Radio Show Contributor
From Outcast.
Radio Host (Burt)
Right.
Donnie Wahlberg
But here's the thing is, like, it's kind of like a high school yearbook. You know what I mean? It's kind of like, you You. You guys named yourselves Hotlanta, and now you don't want it anymore. It's.
Radio Host (Burt)
Don't fight us on that.
Donnie Wahlberg
We'll help you. We'll help you. You know, I mean, I've already tweeted. I heard rumors about the. The. The. The war going on here when they got off the plane.
Radio Show Contributor
You bring up the high school yearbook. Go back and look at your freshman high school picture and tell me if you would wear that outfit out in public today. That's the idea.
Donnie Wahlberg
Exactly. No, no, I can totally relate. I mean, I just. I didn't think it was that severe of an issue for you guys down here. I got off the plane. Baggage claims. Whatever you do, man, you don't call us Hotlanta. Okay?
Radio Host (Burt)
For real. It's Donnie Wahlberg and Jordan Knight in studio with the Burt show this morning. All right, Donnie, let's talk about the reason why you are here in Atlanta this weekend.
Donnie Wahlberg
Yeah, I'm throwing a party, big time. I'm not even gonna. I'm not gonna say any Atlanta reference when I say the word party. I'm throwing a party tonight. I don't even know where's the party.
Radio Host (Burt)
It's at Life nightclub on Cheshire Bridge Road.
Donnie Wahlberg
Sorry, Life nightclub. I'm in half a coma. I just got off the airplane and I'm hurting. Okay, but it's at Life nightclub. And, yeah, I'd like to say, you know, I'm here, you know, promoting my song, but the reality is I'm here to hang out with a ton of fans and have a great time. I mean, I'm going to perform and sing and I. I mean, sing my song, which is kind of weird to even say, but. But I'm sorry, guys.
Radio Show Contributor
And didn't you also say you're going to do tardy for the party?
Donnie Wahlberg
No, I'm going to dance. I told you I wouldn't bring it up, and you just brought it up.
Radio Host (Burt)
You're going to dance to Tardy for. For the party tonight?
Donnie Wahlberg
I'm going to. I always dance to Tardy for the party.
Radio Host (Burt)
Do you really?
Donnie Wahlberg
I love that show. It's like Tool Academy and Real Housewives of Atlanta, man. That's it. And yeah, you know, Kim from.
Radio Host (Burt)
Kim from Real Housewives is on with us all the time. She's gonna be so stoked when she hears that.
Donnie Wahlberg
Yeah, that shows great. So I like Nene, though. Sorry.
Radio Host (Burt)
One of them just got the boot, right? Charades, you know, she's not gonna be on the show anymore. Well, are you bummed about that? Is that gonna send you in a funk today?
Donnie Wahlberg
No, no, I'm a nene. I'm a nene girl.
Radio Host (Burt)
Tweet that.
Radio Show Contributor
So.
Radio Host (Burt)
And Jordan, you are here for a separate reason?
Jordan Knight
Yeah.
Radio Host (Burt)
This weekend?
Jordan Knight
Yep. Oh, well, I'm down here recording some music. And in every city that I've been recording, I'm doing an event called Jordan Idol. So it's. It's another way to connect with the fans. And it's like they get up and compete just like American Idol. And the lucky fan gets to work in the studio with me.
Radio Host (Burt)
Right on.
Radio Show Contributor
Oh, that's great.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
Are you gonna be one of the judges?
Jordan Knight
No, no, no. The guys I'm working with, Brian Michael Cox and his and his cousin Kendrick, they're coming down. They're Grammy award winning producers, so. Well, that's for the serious singers that come down. They'll. They'll judge them. There's no judgment on the fans, really.
Radio Host (Burt)
So it's like no stress.
Jordan Knight
No stress.
Radio Host (Burt)
No one's gonna rip on you.
Jordan Knight
Like, it's more like karaoke. Okay, so, yeah.
Radio Show Contributor
At this stage in the game, can any fan do anything original to get y' all's attention or have you seen it all?
Donnie Wahlberg
Um, I think they can. I mean, you know, it just depends. I mean, I think someone can get your attention in any moment, doing any production particular thing. Your eyes caught my attention when I walked in the room.
Radio Host (Burt)
In fact, dude, it's taking you. It's taken you 12 minutes. I'm surprised.
Donnie Wahlberg
I told you, I'm a little tired from the flight.
Radio Host (Burt)
I mean, last time you were in here, it took you 12 seconds.
Donnie Wahlberg
I know, I know. I'm off.
Radio Show Contributor
I think Jen was getting a little hurt there.
Donnie Wahlberg
I'm thinking about those Dunkin Donuts downstairs in the Waffle House after that, but.
Radio Host (Burt)
And you know, now, by the way, just as a side note, she's totally and completely, by every definition, single. Now. When's the last time you were.
Radio Show Contributor
And Jeff like to announce this to everyone.
Radio Host (Burt)
She was. I'm just saying.
Radio Show Contributor
Celebrity softball games, you name it. They like to announce this now.
Radio Host (Burt)
I'm just saying. That's all. I'm not saying.
Radio Show Contributor
And her inhibitions adjust significantly after two glasses of wine.
Now that is true.
Radio Host (Burt)
Just happen to have a bottle of pinot on you right now?
Donnie Wahlberg
No, but I have some. A distiller and some Dunkin Donuts coffee. I think you can make it into moonshine if you're curious. Throw a few donuts.
Radio Host (Burt)
It's a really good question, though. I mean, you guys have been doing this for so long. Like, if a fan really wants to get your attention now, like, when's the last time a woman did something so outrageous that you're like, that's somebody I will never forget.
Donnie Wahlberg
I don't know. I'm not big on the outrageous stories, but I think they do it every day. I mean, like, I identified about eight people outside from either having met them before and remembering them or from Twitter, whatever. I mean, it's. You know, the one thing about our fans is they have. Most of them have a very great sense of humor, and they. They're very good at finding ways to get our attention. You know, they. They. Whether it's a sign that's, you know, funny or they'll find some obscure thing that, like, Jordan said In the interview 20 years ago, you know, and they'll put it on a sign and, you know, and you're in an arena full of 20,000 people, and you just look at the sign and it's like, one of us will see it. You know, it's like Jordan's had a quote before that said he liked ketchup on his eggs, you know, and it became this funny line amongst the group, like, jordan likes ketchup. Like, it's a real important detail. And then a fan shows up 20 years later with sign that says, jordan, I got ketchup for your eggs. It's like, it's funny. I mean, it's funny.
Jordan Knight
Inside joke.
Donnie Wahlberg
Yeah, they just get it.
Radio Host (Burt)
Donnie Wahlberg and Jordan Knight in studio and Kim Zolciak from Real Housewives now
Jordan Knight
on the phone, huh? For real, huh?
Donnie Wahlberg
Oh, man. I told you I was girl.
Jordan Knight
You.
Radio Host (Burt)
Hey, Kim.
Kim Zolciak
Good morning. How are you?
Radio Host (Burt)
Good, how are you?
Kim Zolciak
I'm fantastic.
Radio Host (Burt)
So Donnie Wahlberg just told us that he's a big Real Housewives fan.
Kim Zolciak
That's fantastic. I wish I was in town. I'd come out tonight.
Donnie Wahlberg
I love your record too. I know. You could come singing and I would lip sync it with you.
Kim Zolciak
I would. I would have some fun. But I'm heading out to lip. We wouldn't be lip syncing now. Come on.
Donnie Wahlberg
No, you wouldn't. I would.
Rihanna
Oh, you would.
Kim Zolciak
No, I'd like you to sing it. I want to hear what you can do.
Radio Host (Burt)
Yeah, so would I. I'd like to hear that.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
Yeah.
Donnie Wahlberg
I love that record, I think.
Kim Zolciak
Thank you. You know what? It turned out really, really great. I'm actually really excited. I'm actually going to the AMA Awards. That's where I'm headed to today.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
Wow.
Kim Zolciak
Very excited.
Rihanna
Yeah. Good for you.
Kim Zolciak
So It's a. It's a fun song. It's kind of catchy. I'm kind of over, and I'm ready to do some new stuff.
Donnie Wahlberg
I love it.
Radio Host (Burt)
Is there anything that she's ever done on the show where you're like, man, if I ever had a chance to tell her that she shouldn't have done this. Here's your chance.
Donnie Wahlberg
No, not really. No. I think I just get a kick out of all of them.
Radio Host (Burt)
Yeah.
Radio Show Contributor
Are you volunteering?
That's actually Kim, because she's so excited to be talking to Don.
Kim Zolciak
I'm very excited. I like the fact that he puts, you know, liquor in a coffee cup. That's what I do on the show. You know, they gave me so much heat for drinking wine. I decided that I was just going to buy a Starbucks cup every day and put wine in it, and then they think it's coffee. It didn't work because the girls told on me, but, you know, I tried.
Radio Host (Burt)
There have been relationships built on much less than that. I can tell you that right now.
Kim Zolciak
There you go.
Donnie Wahlberg
Yeah, I admire all them. A lot of the women on that show, because they just will themselves to do whatever they want. You know what I mean? It's like, I'm gonna have a Bentley today. I'm gonna make a record.
Radio Host (Burt)
Are there times?
Donnie Wahlberg
How are you gonna do that? Watch me.
Kim Zolciak
They just do it.
Donnie Wahlberg
Whatever they want to do, they just get it done right. And it's almost like they move faster than the show's producers. Like, you know, the producers aren't setting this up. Like, they're just, like.
Radio Host (Burt)
They're just doing it.
Donnie Wahlberg
You know, the producers are usually, like, two steps ahead on the show, like, that. The producers look like they're three steps behind on this show. Like, damn, this girl really made a record. Like, now what do we do?
Kim Zolciak
They made me do the actual song. I actually didn't even want to do the song. They actually made me do it, and
Donnie Wahlberg
I'm glad they did.
Kim Zolciak
So I have a lot to thank, you know, thank the producers for.
Radio Show Contributor
What's up with Sheree not coming back?
Kim Zolciak
You know, I keep hearing that, and people keep texting me and asking me that. I actually don't believe that that's true.
Radio Show Contributor
Oh, really?
Kim Zolciak
It's my understanding that. I mean, I can only really speak for myself, but it's my understanding that she is coming back and that, you know, there is going to be a third season, but. And we all were given the same letter.
Radio Host (Burt)
That seems sort of strange. Like, if one of my teammates in Here was rumored to be leaving the Birch Show. The first thing I would do is I pick up the phone and I'd call Jen and go, what's up?
Donnie Wahlberg
But that's because you're speaking to each other.
Kim Zolciak
There's a little bit of a. I
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
mean, Shereen and I are cool.
Kim Zolciak
You know, I just haven't had the time to really call, but how many
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
dogs do you have in the background? I'm more curious about your growling dogs
Kim Zolciak
somewhere when I'm talking to you guys.
Radio Host (Burt)
Yeah, where the hell are you calling
Jordan Knight
us from, a kennel?
Kim Zolciak
I mean, honestly, I'm taking my kids to school and they realize they don't have water bottles. I'm standing here in my pajamas in qt.
Radio Show Contributor
Those are your children making that noise.
Kim Zolciak
You know what, Jeff? No.
Radio Host (Burt)
Okay, we're gonna go because that's really annoying.
Jordan Knight
Oh, my God.
Radio Host (Burt)
We'll let you go. Enjoy the.
Kim Zolciak
Thanks, you guys. You guys have fun in atl.
Donnie Wahlberg
All right, babe. Not Hotlanta. Not Hotlanta.
Jordan Knight
She was correct with it.
Radio Host (Burt)
See how she made the proper reference?
Donnie Wahlberg
We're learning. We're learning.
Radio Host (Burt)
What else is going on while you're here in town? I know you guys got both projects that you're talking about, but do you get to go out and hang out outside of that stuff, or you got to split as soon as your stuff's over?
Jordan Knight
Pretty much split.
Radio Host (Burt)
That's it.
Radio Show Contributor
But you've been here since Wednesday in the studio, so people are gonna tweet you and ask. So answer it now, when's this stuff you're working on coming out?
Jordan Knight
I would say late January, February, March, April.
Radio Host (Burt)
Okay. And Donnie, Friday night Life nightclub.
Donnie Wahlberg
That's tonight, right?
Radio Host (Burt)
That is tonight. You really are out of it. Do you party last night?
Donnie Wahlberg
No, I was on a plane, so
Radio Host (Burt)
it was just an all nighter.
Donnie Wahlberg
And that plane was no party, let me tell you. Yeah, yeah.
Radio Host (Burt)
The over that overnight flight thing doesn't sit well with you.
Donnie Wahlberg
Yeah, Red eye. I slept on the floor in the aisle under Johnny's feet. It hurt.
Radio Host (Burt)
Dude, the bird show.

The Birch show all right, so let's find out how the weekend went here for you. Were you nervous going into Thanksgiving dinner? Well, kind of, yeah.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
Because in my family, Thanksgiving's a Big deal. It's where we all gather and it's tradition. We have traditional food that we have every single year. And it's been passed down from my mom's grandparents and their grandparents down to her. And now my mom decided that this a year that I should start cooking Thanksgiving dinner and the traditional recipes. So Wednesday night, I'm making sure I have every single ingredient. I make one last trip to the grocery store. I buy a new dessert. So I was going to make something new for the family. So we had a new dish that I could add to the plate.
Radio Host (Burt)
I think that's smart right there. Starting your own tradition, too.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
That's good, right? So I went to the grocery store Wednesday. Good. So wake up early Thursday morning around 9am I'm ready to go. I'm ready to do this turkey because the turkey is, I guess, the first thing that you do because I don't know. I mean, I've never made anything. It's yours.
Radio Show Contributor
It takes the longest.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
Yeah, it takes the longest.
Radio Host (Burt)
Now, where are you getting your information at this point? Like, you're assuming the turkey is first. Are you calling your mom all the time?
Kim Zolciak
My mom's there.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
Well, my mom's in my apartment with me, so she wants to just look things over. She's making one dish that she always makes. She has her own stuffing that she makes and she's the only one who eats it. Nobody else really touches it.
Radio Host (Burt)
It's like the first time. It's the first time, like you have. You're in your car, you've got. You're driving, but the driving instructor is right next to you.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
Right.
Radio Host (Burt)
Telling you when to signal and everything else.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
Exactly.
Radio Show Contributor
With the big sign on top of the.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
A little pointer from mom. So all the ingredients are laid out on my counter in my apartment. Getting the turkey out and ready to go with the turkey, put it in the pan, unwrapped it, ready to put my hands in the guts. And I. I couldn't do it.
Radio Host (Burt)
What?
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
I did not.
Kim Zolciak
I.
Radio Show Contributor
Well, you seem grossed out. Last week when you talked about it.

I tried.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
I really gave it an A effort.
Radio Host (Burt)
You couldn't put your hand in the turkey to get all that stuff out of there.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
I went in the first time and I. The gag reflex was just.
Radio Show Contributor
Come on.
Radio Host (Burt)
Really?
Radio Show Contributor
Yes.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
I couldn't handle. Some people have that because certain textures of food. This is probably why I don't cook a lot. Certain textures of food make me sick. Like just looking at them and feeling like it was not a fun experience.
Radio Host (Burt)
You remember, Hayden is the same way my 7 year old is. The same way last year when we demanded that he take the guts out of the pumpkin. Remember that? And I was pushing him like, stop being such a sissy dude. Get your hands dirty, this is Halloween. Puts his hand in there and then it's disgusting.
Radio Show Contributor
Right about that.
Radio Host (Burt)
Yeah, he's the same way.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
Just putting your hand in the one time is disgusting because your arm's all up in the turkey. Well, working with meat is not normal.
Radio Show Contributor
If you think about it too much, it can get to your head. Like, you just have to remember, okay, we're carnivores. You eat meat all the time. This is how it gets prepared. Like it doesn't just. You know what I'm saying? Like, there's a long process before it actually gets to you and your chicken sandwich or whatever.
Radio Host (Burt)
Or somebody else is doing all that stuff.
Radio Show Contributor
Yeah, somebody else is doing all that stuff. So then once you're doing it, you gotta kinda like check that weirdness out of your head with any sort of meat.
I knew people, I had friends in the past that I had to actually get the meat into the pan and start the process because they couldn't even get the meat out of this little package. Out of the package.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
Disgusting.
Radio Host (Burt)
So that's how the day starts with, mom, can you at least put your hand in the turkey and get the guts out of here?
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
So my mom did the turkey thing. My mom got the little guts out or whatever. And then I just stuffed it. I had celery, so we just stuffed it with celery to keep it moist and then put the turkey in. So the turkey's ready to go. It's in the oven. So next you move on to every single casserole. And I think there was about five casseroles I was making.
Radio Show Contributor
Nice.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
So I had the ingredients all set out, ready to go. First casserole stuffing, easy. That one was good because I followed the recipes, like, had all the recipes laid out.
Weight Loss Advertiser
Stuffing easy to go.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
So the stuffing was ready to go. Put that in the refrigerator. And then I also made a vegetable casserole. And then I made.
Radio Host (Burt)
That's the one you brought in on Wednesday. Right.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
And I put a little salt in it to make sure it was tasty and told people there's salt on the table if it doesn't taste good. Sorry. And then what other casserole did I make? There was one more casserole. I can't think of the name. And then of course, we have the green bean casserole, of course, which is tradition. In every family. But again, following the recipe, and I put too much milk in it.
Radio Host (Burt)
What does that say?
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
Soupy. It was very soupy, but it still tasted good.
Radio Show Contributor
That's all right. It's okay.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
So all those were in the oven, cooked good, and everything turned out great.
Radio Host (Burt)
Solid, good.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
Solid green bean casserole, which was a little soupy, but everyone ate it anyways. They smiled, amazed, because they said it happens every year. Everybody who makes their first. First green bean casserole, it always is soupy.
Radio Host (Burt)
So it's almost like a rite of passage.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
Right?
Radio Host (Burt)
You screw that one dish up.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
Well, good for you.
Radio Show Contributor
And no breakdowns? No. No breakdowns. No mentions.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
No. Like, everything went in.
Radio Show Contributor
Turkey was good.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
Yep.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
Turkey, oh, so good. Thank God mom knew how to do that, because, I mean, I was a mess on that part. But everything turned out great. Or at least the family said it turned out great.
Radio Host (Burt)
And you didn't get any reports back from people having a check in urgent care. Two, three in the morning.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
Everyone was giving me really good compliments on everything. So all the casseroles turned out fantastic. And my dessert, I made this Oreo cookie like style cheesecake, then turned down great. And everyone loved the dessert that I added.
Radio Host (Burt)
So home run all the way around.
Radio Show Contributor
Nicely done.
Good job.
Weight Loss Advertiser
Wednesday.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
Fun Thanksgiving, too. I had a great time.
Radio Host (Burt)
Good for you.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
I think we're going to do it. I'm going to do it every year. Just cook something. At least participate more.
Radio Show Contributor
You got to try that green bean casserole again next year so you can get it right. You redeem yourself on that one.
Radio Host (Burt)
And your mom feels great now, too, because she feels like she's passing on this Thanksgiving legacy. So good, man.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
And it was good. Like mother daughter bonding, cooking it and then bringing it to the family. So we had a good time.
Radio Show Contributor
Good for you.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
Yeah.
Radio Host (Burt)
Excellent. Congratulations.
Weight Loss Advertiser
Thanks.
Radio Host (Burt)

Radio Host (Burt)
Almost feels like a salvage season. Haha. Georgia beats. Yeah, well I'm only scared that his defensive coordinator saved his job on Saturday. I hope that's not the case, but Georgia did beat Georgia Tech and we had a bunch of great tickets to give away on Wednesday. Georgia's own gave them to us and we said, you know what? The more passionate fans are always the old school fans.
Radio Show Contributor
Grandparents, man, they got legacy, they got heritage.
A lot of times with college, especially southern colleges, you have generation after generation after generation that goes to these games and in some families it is just a no no for like a new Georgia Tech family for any child to go to Georgia and vice versa. That wasn't necessarily the case with Joanne and Joan, but these two women definitely were hardcore about their team.
Radio Host (Burt)
So we gave them both tickets and we said have the family sit together at the game and let's check back with you on on Monday and for sure Joan was gonna join us, right? I mean, she's the UGA fan. She's 70 years old. She was ready to gloat and I thought, okay, there's no way that Joanne is gonna show up. 74 years old, she talked a lot of smack on Wednesday.
Radio Show Contributor
She's like, if Georgia Tech loses, I'm just gonna die.
Weight Loss Advertiser
She knew her stuff.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
She was fiery and teeing off. She was cute.
Radio Host (Burt)
But we'll give credit to Joanne, the Georgia Tech 74 year old fan. Cause she's here and she's ready to take some. Hello. Hi, Joanne. Hi, honey, how are you?
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
I felt like yesterday, just like I did the day after I buried my mother.
Radio Host (Burt)
Honey, it couldn't have been that bad.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
Oh, it was terrible. But I just kept on decorating and decorating for Christmas and it made my life better.
Radio Show Contributor
Oh, I know that was. Yeah, I bet it took a while.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
Just caught the pass. I'd be glad this morning.
Radio Show Contributor
I know it. I know it.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
And as Mark Rick said in the paper today, he said, we knew we would go run on Tech because they looked at the videos because we don't have a defensive.
Radio Host (Burt)
I want to know what it was like inside of your. I'm assuming you were in your house and you did not go to the game.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
I did not go to the game. And when Josh Nesbitt got hurt and then they brought in Shaw and he threw the interception, I went down, took my bath, took my sleeping pill and went to bed. Well, let me tell you, something happened to me this weekend. I went out Saturday morning to get my paper and somebody had stole all of my Christmas decorations at the front of my drive. And I'm sure it was a Georgia fan.
Radio Host (Burt)
Oh, were they all like Georgia Tech Christmas decorations?
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
No, they were just big Santa Clauses and Santa Claus going up in a hot air balloon. Just a whole lot of pretty things.
Radio Show Contributor
That's not right.
Radio Host (Burt)
Oh, now you're just lashing out at UGA fans now, accusing them. Yeah, it was a bulldog. So if you took your sleeping pill after that initial interception, that happened in like the first or second quarter, so you missed.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
That happened at halftime. I went to bed.
Radio Host (Burt)
So you missed the rest of the game.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
Yes. And I hear that's when we started coming back.
Radio Show Contributor
Yeah, you missed a great game.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
I just knew Nesbitt was going to
Radio Show Contributor
be out and he felt like that was it.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
And I felt like that was it.
Radio Show Contributor
No reason to stay awake for that.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
Yeah, I understand, but no, I'm not a chicken. I was at the office. I get up at 5:30 and I'm at the office at 7 every morning.
Radio Show Contributor
Atta girl.
Radio Host (Burt)
Good for you.
Rihanna
That a girl.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
I got to be out with these young people. I love the Georgia people, so I'll get hell all day.
Radio Host (Burt)
Now, on Wednesday, did you wear all your Georgia Tech gear and you were telling everybody in the office how you were going to kick some Georgia butt?
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
This I certainly did.
Radio Host (Burt)
Yeah.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
And I walk up to anybody that has a Georgia outfit on, whether I know them or not, in the grocery store, in the mall, I'll say, that's the ugliest shirt I've ever seen in my life. Get that cap out of the. Out of the garbage can, because I see all the homeless people wearing it.
Radio Host (Burt)
Where does this hatred for UGA come from? I know you love Georgia Tech, but where does this hatred for UGA come from?
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
When I went to the Pittsburgh Georgia game at Sugar bowl back years ago, Georgia had the worst fans, the worst alumni that I have ever seen in my life.
Radio Host (Burt)
They were just.
Radio Show Contributor
And that's odd, because Pittsburgh's such a happy town.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
Well, no, this was in New Orleans. But the Georgia fans at the Marriott and on Bourbon street were just awful. And I said, never again. I sat right in the middle of the Georgia people with a Pittsburgh shirt on.
Radio Host (Burt)
So you really are one of these people that not only loves Georgia Tech, you just love every team that's playing against Georgia.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
That is correct.
Radio Host (Burt)
You know what we need to do?
Radio Show Contributor
We have to hold on to your information. Like, before the Georgia bowl game, just have you on to vent.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
Oh, God, please let us. Please pray for us to win Saturday. I want to go to the Orange Bowl.
Radio Host (Burt)
What do y' all have? You have Clemson, right?
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
Yes, Clemson. And we beat him before, so hopefully they haven't looked at us that much
Radio Show Contributor
because Texas can go to a better game than Georgia, so at least you have that.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
Yeah. Well, I heard the last half was great.
Radio Host (Burt)
It was. I mean, it was really coming down to the. Like, the very last drive. I mean, had that wide receiver held that pass, we probably would be having a completely different conversation right now.
Rihanna
I know it's.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
But anyway, I'm still here, and I'm still having fun, and I lost $300.
Radio Show Contributor
Well, good for you for coming on.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
But I'm not scared. I've always been one person to just say my mind.
Radio Host (Burt)
Well, good for you.
Radio Show Contributor
Good for you.
Radio Host (Burt)
I'm sorry. Well, I'm not sorry they didn't win. I'm glad they lost.
Kim Zolciak
No, you are.
Rihanna
You're sorry.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
You're a Georgia Tech fan.
Radio Host (Burt)
No, I was so happy. I'm still happy today? I really am.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
I feel happy today. You must be a Georgia fan.
Radio Host (Burt)
Yes, I'm a Georgia fan.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
You're a Georgia fan fan. Poor thing.
Radio Show Contributor
I'm sorry about your Christmas decorations.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
Why don't you send me a check so I can buy some more?
Radio Show Contributor
No, don't say that to this crew, because they'll send you a bunch of UGA Christmas decorations.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
I went to ebay and got it for twice as much as I paid for it before, but it's coming this week.
Radio Host (Burt)
Thanks a lot for coming on.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
Y' all have a great Christmas.
Radio Host (Burt)
You've been great.
Radio Show Contributor
Seriously. I want to talk to her before the Georgia Bowl.
Any.
Anytime Georgia does something good. Can you imagine having a conversation with her the day after Ugga died? It would get ugly.
Radio Host (Burt)
Even she. I don't think we should bring her on a uga.
Radio Show Contributor
She walks up to strangers in grocery stores and tells them they're wearing a homeless man's hat.
It's Georgia. Georgia, that is. They hate each other. I mean, you should have heard Katie watch. We were in because Tennessee and Kentucky played and neither team has done very well, so they didn't even air that damn game in Nashville. So we were watching the Georgia Georgia Tech game, and you should have heard Katie. I mean, that's. This woman is Katie in 50 years. I'm telling you. I mean, it is hate. So, George, I mean, yeah, Katie was confident from kickoff that Georgia was going to win.
Donnie Wahlberg
She.
Radio Show Contributor
She was right.
Radio Host (Burt)
I was sure we were going to get smoked, man. Hey, Maureen. Good Morning. You're on Q100.
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
Good morning.
Radio Host (Burt)
Hi.
Kim Zolciak
My brother in law goes to Georgia Tech, and I usually root for them,
Rihanna
but I'm glad they lost because that was a horrible thing that that lady
Joanne (Georgia Tech Fan)
said about homeless people wearing George's hat.
Rihanna
Yeah.
Radio Host (Burt)
We found probably the most passionate George, in fact, anyone could have found. We'll have her on again. We're not done with her. Hey, the Birch Show.

We were really surprised if you watched that Diane Sawyer interview a couple of weeks ago. It's a pretty serious Rihanna and some pretty serious things have happened to her over the last couple of months. So when we started this interview yesterday, I was shocked just by how happy she seemed just from the initial. Yes.
Radio Show Contributor
I think you even asked her about the 2020 interview. It sort of like released all of it. And she does seem like a lighter, happier person since that interview. Like she just got to put it all out there and let go of it.
Radio Host (Burt)
You know, I had seen some reports earlier in the week that said that she didn't want to be the model for domestic abuse. So. And I also saw that she said, you know what, I want to move on from that part of my Life. So I thought maybe when we started this thing, that this was going to be difficult because we want to talk to her about something she doesn't want to talk about. Again, I was wrong. She jumps right in.
Radio Show Contributor
But I think moving, I mean, she. I think defines what moving on is about. Because when you've really moved on from something, you don't have a problem talking about it.
Rihanna
You know what I mean?
Radio Show Contributor
And you can really tell in her tone that I think she truly has moved on.
Radio Host (Burt)
You know, she's painted herself into a tight corner here with Chris Brown because Jen asks her a straight up question, you know, you still kind of hooked on this guy? And she says yes. And I was thinking as she said it, and I wish I would have said something, that she can't go back to the dude because her platform has been, I can't allow my younger fans to know that that kind of abuse is acceptable. And you can go back to said that. So I'm not really sure how she can go back. But this is Rihanna yesterday, and I was completely surprised by her honesty and her candor. And this is Rihanna.
Rihanna
Hello.
Radio Host (Burt)
Hi, Rihanna, you're on in Atlanta. How are you doing?
Rihanna
I'm great, actually.
Radio Host (Burt)
Good. Yeah, I was, you know, I was. Before I came in here, I was just watching the. The video of you on stage. I think it was the first public performance after the Diane Sawyer interview when you were on stage with Jay Z. And the only thing I could think of while I was watching it is when you first got on stage. It must have been a tremendous relief to finally be performing again.
Rihanna
It felt so good, the whole performance, even when we were finished, it felt really, really good. The energy in the room was amazing. Plus, my band, I. I just love performing with my band. And I was able to do what I love doing again and at the same time reach all my fans all over the world because it was live. It was a live stream worldwide.
Radio Host (Burt)
Is that the place that you feel most comfort? Like, is that almost an escape for you when you're on stage? Everything in the personal life is out the window. Here you are on stage in front of all of these people, and everything else just doesn't matter.
Rihanna
Yeah. When you. When you're on stage, when it's all about the music, there's nothing better than that feeling, knowing that you are connecting to these people through one thing, and it's music. The thing that you both love.
Radio Host (Burt)
It must have been sort of an emotional rollercoaster because you get off of the set of doing Diane Sawyer and Then you're on stage. When you left the set with Diane and the interview, did you feel good about what was said? Were you nervous about what was said?
Rihanna
I smiled. I smiled myself to sleep. It was the best feeling. It was the best feeling. I drank some red wine and just smiled myself to sleep. I just felt so good that not only did I get that off my chest, but that now all these little girls and young women can hear my story and it can hopefully have a positive impact on them.
Radio Host (Burt)
Were you nervous at all when you walked out of that interview that there was going to be so much backlash that maybe you shouldn't have been as revealing as you were?
Rihanna
No, because I knew that I did the right thing. You know, I expected people to come back and say dumb stuff and make up crazy stories. I expected that, but I didn't. I wasn't worried about that. I wasn't concerned with that because I'm saving lives, so say what you want.
Radio Host (Burt)
What was your biggest concern then?
Rihanna
Pardon me?
Radio Host (Burt)
You said you weren't concerned with the backlash. Then what was your biggest concern?
Rihanna
I wasn't concerned at all, really. I was really nervous going into the interview, like, just because it was my first time talking about it to anyone. So there were those nerves. But after I started talking to her, I just. I got really comfortable and I was just honest from there on.
Radio Host (Burt)
Have you started now to hear some of the stories from women that you might have helped through that interview?
Rihanna
Absolutely. Actually, DoSomething.org I have to shout out to them because they were really helpful. They sent out a message on their website encouraging young women who watched the 2020 interview to write in and let me know how it affected them. And in two days, they got 1500 letters from 1500 girls, and they put it all in one book for me to read. And it's really heartbreaking. A lot of them have been through domestic violence themselves, and these are teenage girls. So that was very, very impactful for me and really heartbreaking. But it let me know that I did the right thing.
Radio Host (Burt)
Well, we can tell you one story here in Atlanta. You probably saved the life of one of our listeners here.
Radio Show Contributor
Yeah, one of our listeners, Linda, actually called us after we ran some of the clips from your interview and said she had been in an abusive relationship. But after hearing you, that was the day she dec to get out. And we contacted a local organization and she got out. She moved out the next day.
Rihanna
That's amazing. That is so amazing. I love to hear stuff like that because it just reminds you that you're here for a purpose. You know, it's much bigger than you.
Radio Show Contributor
Well, now, I wanted to ask a question along those lines. You said that you're, you know, happy to have young fans hear your story. And I'm curious now, looking back, the police department that leaked those photos, do you think they were trying to exploit you, or do you think they were trying to save you?
Rihanna
They were definitely trying to exploit me, only because they sold it. If they were trying to save me, they would put it out, but they sold it. So clearly it was out of. It was just militia and very, very. It made me feel very unsafe in the LAPD department because it was a confidential case. Domestic violence in California is supposed to be completely confidential, and I signed a confidentiality agreement. So when they went against that and when I found out that it was that they were women, that was the most disappointing part for me.
Radio Host (Burt)
Is this unsafe word kind of a theme that you seem to be going. That is sort of going through your life right now. Obviously, in your relationship with Chris, and now here, you can't even turn to the police. Do you feel safe anywhere anymore?
Rihanna
Yeah, I feel very safe, very secure. But, I mean, just, you know, if you can't trust the cops, then who can you trust? That kind of thing, you know, it just made me feel like, wow, it was disappointing. But, I mean, I've moved on from that part of my life, and I feel very comfortable in my skin. I feel very comfortable with who I am and how I live my life now.
Radio Show Contributor
From watching your interviews and listening to your music, I wonder, do you still miss Chris
Rihanna
Sometimes? Actually, yes. There are a lot of reminders, like a lot of hotel rooms, a lot of places that we've been to together music. There are different things that come up that just are reminders of your ex. I'm sure you know what that feels like.
Radio Show Contributor
Oh, of course. Can you still listen to his music
Rihanna
when it comes out on the radio? I don't. I don't snob or turn it off. I just listen. You know, I like his music.
Radio Host (Burt)
Is it like a breakup with anybody? Like, when you're listening to the radio, there are songs that just always seem to remind you of that person, and it's just hard to get over.
Rihanna
Yeah, Yeah. I mean, I've gotten over it, but they're definitely constant reminders. And a lot of those. You know, a lot of it is listening to the radio and songs coming on, songs that were our favorite songs or his songs. Mm.
Radio Host (Burt)
It must be extremely hard for you to try to escape it. At all. I mean, it's in the tabloids. It's on tv. You can't turn the TV on. You can't pick up a magazine. It's in your face all the time.
Rihanna
Yeah, but now I'm used to it. At first, it made it really difficult. Now I just. I. I figured it out because I had to. I had to figure it out.
Radio Host (Burt)
So you're past all that now, and now you got the excitement of a new album coming out. And it must feel like a page kind of turning now.
Rihanna
Yeah. This whole journey since the Grammys, it was kind of like I had. It was the end of an amazing year. The night before the biggest performance of my life. And then I was two weeks before turning 21, so it kind of was a new chapter, and I just turned that page. Now I'm living a whole new life, and it's amazing. It feels great. And rated R is coming out now, and it just feel like finally I get to move on from that and express to the world how I feel.
Radio Host (Burt)
And are people going to be surprised by the new sound of Rihanna because it's very different than Pawn de Replay?
Rihanna
Yes, definitely. But that's. We always do that. We always surprise people with our new sound. We always come ahead of the game because we don't want to do the same thing. We don't want to repeat ourselves. So we always try to move on and do the next cool thing.
Radio Show Contributor
So there's a new album, and we've also heard about this new love interest. Is there any truth to the stories about Tristan Wilde from 90210?
Rihanna
I don't even have his number, believe it or not.
Katie (Radio Show Guest)
Would you like to get his number?
Rihanna
Party. This is funny. I had a house party, and you know how you hold house parties and people just come over that you don't even know. He came. He came by, which was fun for me. I appreciated the company, and he brought a bunch of friends and everybody was hanging out, whatever. But I don't even have his number, so I don't. I don't know how I can be dating him.
Radio Host (Burt)
Are you even open to dating guys right now?
Rihanna
No. I'm a very flirty girl, though. I don't think I have a lot of time for a commitment right now or the energy. A relationship really is another life. It's another career, really.
Radio Show Contributor
Will the next guy you date have to go through Jay Z first?
Rihanna
They probably would love to be my editor when it comes to my guys.
Radio Host (Burt)
Rihanna, you really sound great. I mean, you really sound like at Peace. You sound like you're in such a great place. What a journey you've been on. Congratulations.
Rihanna
Thank you so much. I have to say something, and this is not an insult in any way, but have you guys seen the hangover? I'm sure you have.
Radio Host (Burt)
Yeah.
Rihanna
You know Doug, the groom?
Radio Show Contributor
Yeah.
Rihanna
You sound like him.
Radio Host (Burt)
I kind of look a little bit. Honestly, I do look a little bit like that too.
Rihanna
If you close your eyes,
Radio Host (Burt)
you'd be surprised. I'll send you a picture, but I'm a worse looking version of that guy.
Rihanna
You're a cuter version. To Doug.
Radio Host (Burt)
Yes. Hey Rihanna, Good luck with everything. Thanks a lot.
Rihanna
Thank you.
Radio Host (Burt)
I will talk to you soon. Bye Bye.
Rihanna
Bye.
