Get it the Bird show all right,
Burt
so for those of you that haven't been playing along here, just let me tell you what's going on with this reality TV show. Months ago, I was approached by one of the creators of Real Housewives of Atlanta. They have the concept to do a reality TV show around Atlanta based on five guys, and they're calling it Boys Club. ATL and I hang out with some dudes and they go out quite a bit. We all sort of have different lifestyles. I've got two kids. One of the other guys that they're considering in my group is a promoter. One owns a gym, the other one owns a restaurant. So we're all pretty much, you know, like on the move. Right. She thought this would be a pretty interesting cast, so she's been interviewing all of us to see if our group is going to be the group that she wants to have on this reality TV show. Most of the guys in my group are stoked about it. Like they have greenlighted it. If they choose our group, they're really excited about it. I'm the only one on the team that's still not 100% sure. So as I've said a million times over the last couple of weeks, Stacy and I really haven't wrapped our brains around it yet because we haven't had to. If they come back to us and they say, look, we want you guys, then Stacy and I will really sit down and decide if it's right for us and the family and all that. But up until then, we just sort of put it on the back burner. But I'm going through the process still. And the last time I talked to you guys about it, they came over to my house and Stacey and I did an on camera interview which lasted for about 30 minutes. And they got a good sense about what our relationship was like, and I think it went really well. I'm not exactly sure what they're looking for, but we didn't hold back. We're not embarrassed to say that we're sort of a mess. We don't really try to put the polish on our relationship. I think we're pretty typical when it comes to a couple that's been with each other for 13 years, married 13 with each other, 16 years with two kids. Sometimes it's great, other times it really sucks. We've gone through a lot of great times together, and I've told you guys that we've gone through a lot of really, really difficult times together. Times where I didn't know that the relationship was really gonna work out. And it doesn't bother me to talk about these things. So I think that's what any reality TV show is looking for. I mean, I'm not catering my story for them. It's everything that we talk about on the radio, you know, So I thought that interview went well. Then they came in studio yesterday and the cameras were here.
Co-host Female
Yeah, they came in to check out what Burt does on the air, and we're getting some footage of him. As we were talking about different things, we were, I think yesterday we were talking about Joanna and her situation with her fiance Jason. Should they move in together? Should they not? So I thought that was a really great snapshot of a typical conversation we'd have on the Burt show. And so they were in here getting footage in studio and, you know, saw us cussing when the mics are off and trying to be G rated when the mics were on and that kind of thing. So that was pretty cool.
Co-host Male
And I have to commend Burt because the cameras, of course, they're focused on him. And during most of that conversation, the camera guy was like, right next to you with the camera, like, in your face. And I was like, how is he pulling this off without every now wanting to turn to the camera, like. But I guess that's good training if you get on this show, you know,
Burt
sincerely, the camera is three inches from your face.
Co-host Male
I was distracted by like, whoa, you
Burt
know, and I'm already insecure about my nose. And he's right. He's doing a full on profile shot. It's like they want My nose for the reality TV show, but they don't want the rest of my body. But it is weird cause I've heard this cliche before that when you do a reality TV show that after a while you forget the cameras are there. And while we were talking on the show yesterday, I forgot that the dude was up my schnozhy.
Co-host Female
So it's good training.
Burt
Yeah, it didn't bother me.
Co-host Female
Yeah.
Burt
So after the show we go into my office and then the inquisition really began. The producer dude that they brought in from la, I got a little nervous because he took his jacket off and I'm like, oh, damn, we're gonna be here for a while and this is gonna hurt. So it was me, the Atlanta creator, and this producer from Evolution, I think, and the cameraman and, you know, he takes his jacket off and he starts to ask me some pretty intimate questions, you know, like they were follow ups from the initial conversation that Stacey and I had. So in that initial conversation, I think I was honest with him and I said, you know, I know I got a drinking problem. I don't call it alcoholism, but I mean, I'm my age and I'm still binge drinking and it concerns me. So we talked a lot about that. He also talked about Stacy's addiction to pain medications that she got over. But I have concerns about how Stacey's drinking now also. So we talked a lot about that. We talked about our relationship, just let it all hang out. At some point during the initial interview, I must have said that the only thing that's off limits is our sex life. It's the same thing I've said on the radio for years, because Stacey has made it just part of the landscape that she doesn't want to explore. So I've respected that. So of course he's drilling me on sex questions, but he even admitted, you know, it's the one thing you don't want to talk about, so I gotta ask you questions about it. So I really didn't answer a lot of them. And I said, if you want to talk about that, then go ahead and ask Stacy about it. But I felt like if we were in there for 25 minutes, I felt like 15 minutes was about Stacy and our relationship. So if they're starting to piece together this group, I sort of feel like they're going to focus more on family with us and sort of the realities of a couple that is trying to juggle job and insecurity still with each other and day to day life.
Co-host Male
Right.
Co-host Female
Did they ask about Your kids.
Burt
I had to bring them up. They never asked about the kids. They said they don't know any reality TV show that has ever put kids in a bad light. So I'm not concerned really about that. I asked them about the scheduling because I am very concerned about time management issues. Basically what they said to me is this, is that it's not like the old days, the old Ozzy Osbourne reality TV show, when the cameras used to live in their garage. And they had cameras all over the place, hidden cameras. There were cameras in every room. Reality TV shows really aren't based on that anymore. They give you a schedule so they'll tell you, look, is 2 o' clock on Tuesday good for you? Or what are you doing on Thursday night? Do you have an event plan? Can we follow you around then? So it's a little more scheduled than I thought it was gonna be. And they also said time commitment wise, this cast will be easier than other reality TV shows. Cause there are gonna be five dud. So they have to split all that time up. So it's not like the cameras are focused on me, like I'm Kim Kardashian or something. This is a cast of five people. So they have to split that time up. So they alleviated my fears a little bit. That way I wouldn't have any control of the editing of the show whatsoever. Nobody gets that unless you fund your own reality TV show like Paris Hilton did on MTV. Then you have 100% edit, right control. But then it's really an infomercial and that's not what they're looking.
Co-host Male
And that's why it's not on anymore.
Co-host Female
And what about what you're allowed to talk about on the radio?
Burt
They thought that I would be able to come on the next morning and talk about stuff that happened on the show the night before. They thought it would be great promotion for the show. They don't have a TV network that has picked up this, this yet. I guess the way it happens is they shoot it and then they start pitching it to different networks. Bravo, I don't know, Spike, whomever, right? And if it's quality enough, then Bravo says, ok, that's good stuff. We're gonna go ahead and we'll take this. It would be 90 days, about three months for only like eight to 10 episodes. I didn't realize it took that long to do for that fewer shows. They asked me, you know, about Stacy's personality, because I have said before that I'm concerned about that. That Stacy, on one hand can be very abrasive. And she's very, very forward, man, you know exactly where you stand with my wife.
Caller Leslie
And.
Burt
And my concern was that they would only show that part of her, and they wouldn't show that the work she does, like with other people that are addicted to pain medications, she volunteers a whole bunch that they wouldn't show her soft side. And they said to me, they're gonna shoot and portray her as she is, which I kind of buy and I kind of don't.
Co-host Male
Well, I mean, we've talked before. I mean, it's all about the draw. It depends on. I mean, with the reality show, I'm sure they put all. It's like putting. You know, I don't cook, but it's putting together perfect stew where they're gonna get all these personalities in and they're just gonna see what happens. And where the drama goes is what they're gonna follow. Because even with Desperate House, Desperate Housewives of Atlanta, Real Housewives of Atlanta, which is their show as well, that the evolution, you know, was that Nene and Kim had constant conflict. And so the show started just focusing on the two of them more so than the others. They showed a little bit of the others, but so they just probably just, you know, it's very spontaneous, whatever comes up. So if Stacy's personality, where the abrasiveness starts coming out with somebody else on the show, they're gonna. They're gonna focus on, like, if she
Burt
and Dolvette have a big old blowout or something like that, that's gonna be a reoccurring storyline, right?
Show Host
Exactly.
Co-host Male
Exactly. But you don't know until you get there.
Burt
It happens, right? You know, and it's funny because I'm sort of been living my life the last couple of days now, like, thinking, okay, if the cameras were on me right now, what could they edit? And we had a. An instance in here yesterday that I thought, if they edit this the wrong way, I'm gonna look like a real jerk. And yesterday, it's really difficult for me to get down the hall now cause of my jacked up knee and the time constraints. So I asked an intern to go heat up my coffee. Well, if they show that over and over and over again, here I am looking like some taskmaster. That's not good. That's too good to go get his own coffee heated.
Co-host Male
And there was something else yesterday that you did that you do. And it's funny because you do a lot and you're meaning it's a joke, but I thought man, if they just focus on this. Because yesterday you were talking about how long you and Stacy have been together. I forgot what context we were talking about. Sixteen years. Like that. And you joke like that all the time. But I thought, oh, my God, the camera's in here. And they do that. It's gonna make you look like you're unhappy in your marriage, you know, we
Burt
were at Lenox Grill last night, and it was a really bad restaurant experience. The food was bad. The waiter was bad. They wouldn't bring coffee. They wouldn't bring our food. It was just a bad experience. So Stacy asked for the manager, and the manager comes over, and she told him exactly what had happened over the last hour or so. Cause she's been there a whole bunch of times, and she's had a great. Right. And she said that to the manager. I've been here so often, and I've had nothing but great experiences. But I don't know what's happening tonight, but everything's gone wrong. Everything. And I could see a point where they only take the part of her bitching about her meal and making her look like, you know, this really demanding woman. So I'm nervous about all that, y'.
Show Host
All.
Burt
I'm really nervous about that because.
Co-host Female
Why are you nervous about it? Because you're afraid of them portraying her in a bad light or afraid of needing to defend her or both.
Burt
Like, if it's me, I've got no problem with it. But it's my wife, man.
Caller Fred
And
Burt
I don't know. It's just. I don't want people taking shots at my wife or my family. Me, no problem. But they can edit it so well that she's just really is created. They just don't show the other side. Hey, Brian, Good morning. You're on Q100.
Caller with Wedding Show Experience
Hey, good morning, guys.
Burt
What's happening?
Caller with Wedding Show Experience
Not a whole lot. I was calling in just to shed a little light. I've had a little bit of experience with what you're concerned about. Not as far as the way they're going to portray you or your wife, but as far as how you said they had a schedule laid out and it wouldn't be very time consuming. I was on a. My wife and I were on a reality show on TNT last year called Wedding Day. And they would give us times, and they were only in town, granted, for, like, four days. And they were from Hollywood, and it was Mark Burnett production. So it was a, you know, very experienced team. They do a lot of extreme home makeover. But they would tell us, hey, let's be at the zoo at two o'. Clock. And I. And we have three small children as well. I know you have two, we have three. So you get. You get the kids ready. You know, you're rushing out the door. You get to where they're going to be. You're there. You're there at 1:50 to start shooting at 2:00'. Clock. Well, you'll sit there until 4 or 5 o' clock before they do anything. And the kids are going, you know, crazy, running around. And the one thing that I. And that was not just one time, that's for everything they tried to film. And the one thing I really stress was they actually filmed the actual wedding. There's a backstory to my wedding while we got on the show. But the wedding was supposed to go off at 6:30, I believe it was. And the thing I stress them, I do not want the guests waiting. Please, you know, whatever you do, make sure the wedding goes off on time, you know, because we'd already invitation. So all the guests were there on time. And our weddings wound up going off at like 9:15.
Burt
Is that right?
Olympics Commentator
Yeah.
Caller with Wedding Show Experience
So there are a lot of challenges now, different producers, so I can't say how they would portray it, but as far as them, I assume that's probably a common thing. If they tell you, you know, it's going to take an hour and be there at two, you can pretty much say it's going to take four hours and you're going to be there, you know.
Burt
Yeah, there's no doubt. They're going to have to create some drama, you know, they're going to tense you out. So they've got some kind of material, you know, like tonight. They are shooting me and all the guys at a restaurant tonight. And I know there's gonna be pressure to drink alcohol tonight because they're gonna want to see this storyline, you know. So I'm already ahead of the. Ahead of what's. What could happen tonight. But I think this is the last thing that we're gonna do on camera. So all of us tonight go over to Justin's restaurant and they're gonna shoot us for a couple hours. And then I guess it's just a waiting game and we'll see if this is the group that they want or not. So we should know within the next couple of weeks if we have to make a decision or not. That's where that whole thing stands right now.

Listen, it's the vert show.
Burt
Jen was so excited yesterday. She had a surprise birthday party that was thrown for her when we got back for Burt's big adventure on Monday night.
Co-host Female
Yeah, it was so cool. I really have never been surprised before and I was totally surprised. Wendy's little face was the first person I saw when I walked in. I was like, so confused. I'm like, why is Wendy here? Like, I just thought that I was going to dinner with my new boyfriend and was like totally completely unexpected. And it was such a nice surprise. It was so fun.
Burt
As a sidebar, I see that you're much more at peace with using the word boyfriend.
Co-host Female
I'm trying. I don't love that word. I've always had a weird thing with that word. Like, I think after you've been married and then divorced and then you go back to that again, it's just a weird, like very middle school word.
Burt
I can understand that.
Co-host Female
It's just a bizarre word. But no, I'm not afraid of the commitment part of it. But it's just the word is just seems juvenile. Juvenile, yes. Like I'd prefer to say partner or, you know what I mean? Or like something more adult.
Burt
Right, right.
Co-host Female
So that's. That's my only issue with it. But. But yeah, so. So we were just planning to do a dinner and then the big surprise happened. I could not believe. I literally was so blown away.
Burt
Well, she was beaming when she walked in here a. Because, you know, so many people showed up for a surprise party. But she hinted to us yesterday that her new boyfriend did something really sweet for her. But we never found out what the details were.
Co-host Female
Yeah, it was just the most thoughtful gift that I might have ever. And this is sort of a lesson that we try to teach guys when we talk about stuff all the time and gift giving and being thoughtful and that kind of thing. It was probably like a month ago. We had been out and we were at a place that featured a local artist and there were all these different paintings on the wall from this local artist. And I was just really mesmerized by this one painting on the wall. And it had been. I just like, spent probably too much time just gushing over this one painting and thought it was really amazing, really beautiful, and just kind of like moved on or whatever. After the whole surprise party or whatever, we got home and come to open my gift. And it was that piece of artwork.
Caller Leslie
Nice.
Co-host Female
So I had gone back to that place, had totally remembered it. And it was one of those things that I felt like I had sort of said in passing, but I really had talked about the reason why I liked it. And the painting is called articulate. And, you know, it's kind of what we do. And I don't know, I just loved it so much. And I couldn't believe that he remembered that and actually went back and got it. And, like, I was so touched, it made me cry when I opened it. I was like, I cannot believe you remembered this. And I cannot believe this painting is in my room right now. This is so awesome.
Burt
Cause there are guys listening right now going, what's the big deal? It's a piece of art. But it was the thought, right, is that he listened to you and he picked it up, man.
Co-host Female
Listened and remembered and made the effort to go back to that place and get it and everything. I was. It blew my mind. Blew my mind. I was like, so overwhelmed. It was awesome.
Co-host Male
Awesome.
Burt
There's a lesson to be learned there. And I don't know how we teach guys to listen because I know I'm
Co-host Male
not good at it, but we talk all the time about women feeling special. And that made her feel special because he was listening to what she said. He appreciated what she liked. He wanted to make sure that if she liked this so much that she owned it herself. And so, yeah, that was perfect. It doesn't take em.
Burt
And it's not the money that's spent. It's the thought, like, you could save yourself, guys, you could save yourself a whole bunch of cash by doing something thoughtful.
Co-host Male
Yes. Oh, my gosh.
Co-host Female
I mean, that meant more than, you know, a million dollar diamond. You know what I mean? That meant so much more than that.
Burt
I don't believe that. I don't believe that for a second.
Co-host Female
Well, maybe that wasn't a good analogy.
Burt
No, I'm just kidding. But we get the sentiment in the whole thing. That's cool. Cool versa.
Co-host Female
That's really, really cool.
Show Host
This is the Birch Show.
Spinquest Announcer
All right.
Burt
I'm just curious. We've been doing this kind of segment now for years. Really?
Co-host Female
Yeah. It's something that you're Curious about. You know, it's probably none of your business and you should probably not think about it, but you're just curious and need to find the answer so you can come to us with the situation. We try to help you get those answers so you don't look like who's too nosy. We'll be the ones that are too nosy for you.
Co-host Male
Right.
Burt
So this is sort of the text version of I'm just curious. Jen got one of these a couple of days ago and she's really curious about the backstory of the text because it wasn't intended for her.
Co-host Female
Yeah, I got one that was. It was actually over the holidays, like right around New Year's or something. And it was like, I'm his baby mama and I don't care if you got kids too. Mine are more important and stay off my man. And all this kind of stuff. I mean, it was like angry, angry texts. Like lots of it was in all caps, whatever. And I told my friend I was with, I was like, ooh, check out this text message. I don't think this was intended for me. And he laughed about it and said I should have just played along and just like kept going back and forth. Get into a fight with whoever this was on the other end. I was like, no, no, no, I don't need that drama. I don't want somebody having my phone number. And then I got another one the other day about somebody talking about how they were at the movies and it was filled with white people and they were talking to the screen, and the
Burt
white people were talking to the screen.
Co-host Female
They couldn't believe that white people were talking at the screen or something like that. And it was like three text messages in a row from somebody. I don't know who it is.
Caller Leslie
Huh.
Burt
So if Jen was one of you guys calling, she would tell us the story, she would give us the phone number off the air. And what we'll do later on today is we will record calling these people and going, hey, just between you and me, you know that that text message wasn't intended for me, but I'm dying to know what that was all about.
Co-host Female
Yeah.
Burt
So this is only gonna work if you still have the phone number. Right?
Caller or Guest
Right.
Burt
Good morning, Terry, you're on Q100.
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
Hey Bert Show.
Burt
Hey, Terry, what's going on?
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
Not too much. Couple weeks ago I was working on the weekend and got this text message and did not know who it was. Kept it for. I don't know why. I guess cuz I'm paranoid and A conspiracy theorist. And I kept it for evidence, just in case, you know, someone was screwing with me and I needed evidence or something. But it wasn't near as dramatic as Jen's baby mama text.
Burt
But you're still curious. So what did it say?
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
It said. Hang on, let me pull it up. It said, what was the final straw that made you say, F this?
Burt
Oh, no, that's good. Oh, that's solid.
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
Yeah.
Burt
What was the final straw that made you say, F this? Oh, yeah, that's a great one to start with.
Co-host Female
Perfect.
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
But actually, I responded to the text because I didn't know. I thought it was maybe a friend calling from or texting from another phone. So I wrote back, who is this? And then they wrote back, who is this? And then I wrote back, what? You know, what the heck? You texted me first, and then I had to forward the text to them, and they were like, I have no idea how you got that.
Caller Leslie
Sorry.
Burt
So they may be a little reluctant to talk to me about it or talk to us about it later. Okay, so, Terry, here's what we'll do. I'm gonna put you on hold. We'll get the phone number later on today. We'll record the call with whoever sent that, and we'll see if we can find out exactly what the backstory was. Okay?
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
Okay. Perfect.
Show Host
All right.
Burt
Hold on. Well, that's a good one to start.
Caller or Guest
That is a good one.
Co-host Female
Really good. What was the final straw that made you say, f this?
Burt
Here is Leslie. Good morning, Leslie. You're on the Birch Show.
Caller Leslie
Hi.
Burt
How are you?
Caller Leslie
I'm doing good.
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
How are you?
Burt
Good. You understand what we're trying to do here? You tell us what the text said. It was obviously not meant for you. We'll call that person later, and we'll try to get some answers for you.
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
Yes, that would be great.
Caller Leslie
I got a text about three weeks ago, and it was a number that I didn't recognize. It was a 678 area code, and it just said, it's not all about you. Leave it alone.
Caller Fred
What is this?
Caller Leslie
So I texted back. I was just like, huh? Who is this? And all that I got back was, seriously. And that's it.
Burt
It's not. It's not about you. Leave it alone.
Caller Leslie
Yeah, it's not all about you. Leave it alone.
Burt
Oh, that's good, too.
Spinquest Disclaimer
Very good.
Caller Leslie
I have no idea what it's about.
Burt
Okay. This is great. Okay, I will put you on hold as well. We'll get that phone number, and then I'll call it later. On today and see if we can get some answers for you.
Caller Leslie
Thank you so much.
Co-host Female
Now that we are doing this, we need to ask listeners to tell us about it, like, the day after it happens. Because I'm guessing some of these from a couple of weeks ago, the person who sent it might not even remember why they sent it.
Burt
Right.
Co-host Female
You know what I mean? If it's a couple weeks old, could you even remember a text you sent two weeks ago or what it would be about?
Burt
Well, if it's that strongly worded, what was the final straw that made you say F this, then chances are pretty good you'd remember that one.
Co-host Male
Or if I say it's not your business, leave it alone. I remember that.
Caller Leslie
Yeah.
Burt
I'll take one more because I think the more we take, the better success we might have later on today. Hey, Kristen, Good morning. You're on Q100.
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
Hey, guys. How are you?
Burt
Good, how are you?
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
I'm fine, thank you.
Burt
All right, so you got a text. You don't know where it came from, but what did it say?
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
It said, I like it when you act childish when we're doing it. I don't know why, but it turns me on.
Co-host Female
Oh, boy.
Burt
Well, I think that's pretty defined there, though, isn't it?
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
So I don't know who it was from, though.
Burt
So you're more interested in who it came from than the story behind it?
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
Yeah, I think so.
Co-host Female
That's creepy.
Caller or Guest
Say it again.
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
I like it when you act childish when we're doing it. I don't know why, but it turns me off.
Burt
Hold on.
Co-host Female
Creepy.
Co-host Male
I don't want to know how childish.
Burt
And she just really wants to know who sent it.
Co-host Male
Yeah.
Burt
Now, it could be the case where it was like, she's the next person on the contact list or somebody else in her phone is so close that the word is so close that it put down Kristen, but it really meant somebody else. So she may know who that person is.
Co-host Male
You can have more than one person by the same first name in your phone, and that's usually how it happens.
Co-host Female
Ah, ah, ah.
Burt
I may be more interested in that one than the others. No, no.
Show Host
It's the vert show.

BIRD SHOW so for a couple of
Burt
weeks now, we've had Alana Myers on with us and she is from Douglasville. She is the only woman from the state of Georgia that is competing in the Winter Olympics. She's in the bobsled.
Caller or Guest
Right? Cool.
Burt
And she's been really cool about calling us and just telling us what's been going on in the Olympic Village. But when we first talked to her, she was weeks away from her competition. So she's been waiting and waiting and waiting. Right. Well, I found out a little backstory about her yesterday which makes this even more interesting. The there's one premier pilot that is like the best in the US And I don't know what exactly how to pronounce her last name. It's something like Ro Hawk or something like that. And there are two women obviously in the two woman bobsledding team. And Ilana tried to be the pusher for this number one pilot, right. So she pushed off against, she had a push off against another woman to compete to be in the number one sled and Alana won. And this number one pilot didn't like the results. So she complained and complained and complained to the coaches so she could have somebody else push. Even though Ilana really qualified to be in this number one bobsled.
Co-host Male
That fire you up? If you're Alana, that would fire me up totally.
Co-host Female
Right, Patty? B word.
Burt
I guess there's a lot of politics that go on, but she won this push off against this girl and the number one said, I still don't want Alana on my team. Give me the other girl.
Lady Luck
Wow.
Burt
Well, the number one person is in like, I don't know, eighth place today and Alana is in second place. That's gotta feel good. That's gotta feel great, right? And publicly she's not going to be able to talk about that too much because they're still on the same US Team and they're teammates and even, you
Co-host Male
know, we talked yesterday, yesterday too. Added to that is her own pilot. Alana's pilot of her bobsled was having hamstring problems. Was it last night or the night before? To the point she was in tears. Not sure if she that hamstring was gonna, you know, be able to get the pain away before this competition last night or yesterday afternoon is when it actually happened. And so to be in second place not only after the story Bert just told. But your pilot was injured and you're still in second place.
Burt
And if you watched any of the bobsled last night, the pusher really has about five seconds of work and then is along for the ride. They duck down into the. And then it's the person in the front that's doing a whole bunch of the navigating.
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
Right.
Burt
So she must have done a great job last night. A really fantastic job, because here was her run last night at the Olympics.
Olympics Commentator
Aaron Pack at the top, 29 years of age from Farmington, Connecticut. Elena Myers is her breakman. She was a shortstop and pitcher at George Washington University. Thought she'd make the Olympics someday as a softball player. But once softball was taken out of the games, Myers, the brakeman, said, bobsled it is. And here she is in her first Olympic Games.
P
Erin is not a consistent driver. She gets a lot of her results from awesome start times. Every once in a while, she feels a great drive down the track. If she does it here, it will give her tremendous confidence because she did not have a great week training.
Burt
Okay, that's the first part of the run.
P
Accelerating away to 12. Watch out to 50, 50. Late in the 5050 time. 144. She's gonna drop back a little bit. Should be top three easy.
Olympics Commentator
89 and a half miles per hour. She moves into second place.
P
That's the heat Eric needed for her confidence.
Olympics Commentator
Great run by Aaron Pack of US USA sled number two.
Burt
And you know, wow, Alana was in there also, but they don't even mention her name.
Caller or Guest
89 miles per hour, though. Did you hear that?
Burt
That looks like fun.
Co-host Female
Awesome.
Burt
I'm scared of roller coasters, but this bobsled and thing sure looks like fun
Co-host Male
because if you're on ice, it's fun.
Burt
So that was the first run. And then they had a second one last night.
Olympics Commentator
Also USA sled number two, piloted by Aaron Pack with Alana Myers as the push athlete. A shaman surprisingly very good Heat number one.
P
Well, she was good all the way down to curve 13. She lost it. She went from the leader to second place. Her nemesis was the 50 50. This is a nice line. 11 12. Much smoother speed. 146. She'll be the leader.
Olympics Commentator
82 miles per hour.
P
She's got it.
Olympics Commentator
146.
P
91 miles per hour. Done it. And.
Olympics Commentator
And pass moves to the top of the podium.
Burt
So they're in second place this morning.
Caller or Guest
Awesome.
Burt
Isn't that awesome?
Co-host Female
So they compete again today. Right?
Burt
There's two more runs today. And if they do as well, they'll be meddling.
Caller or Guest
That's so cool.
Co-host Male
Do we know what time?
Burt
I don't check the schedule the way it's set up. And I was so excited about this yesterday. I went on NBC Olympics just to see the results before they were on tv. They don't show you the results on the website, so they don't want to let you know. But what I understand is they're going to show it tonight at 8:00 clock on NBC.
Co-host Male
And that's smart because I think in past Olympics, especially the Sydney Games, the Summer Games, where we were so far behind in seeing the events, and they would show the results on the website and in the news. I've noticed this, this time that they're. They haven't really ruined any sports for anybody because I was looking last night the same thing to try to get her results. I could not find them.
Co-host Female
So.
Co-host Male
Yeah.
Burt
Good morning, Fred. You're on Q100.
Caller Fred
Hey, y' all doing Burt show.
P
Good.
Burt
How are you?
Caller Fred
Doing? Great. I didn't find out about it until a couple of days ago, but I didn't know Alana Myers was actually on the Olympic squad. And the reason why I was calling in is because me and her actually went to high school together.
Co-host Male
Okay.
Caller Fred
At Lithia Springs High School in Douglasville and Lithia Springs, actually. And I was talking to a friend of mine the other day. She's like, yeah, you know a lot of Myers on the Olympics. I was like, no, I didn't. She's been wanting to do that ever since we were in high school. And she told me about it, and I watched the run last night, and she's actually doing better than I thought. Going from softball to bobsledding, that's a big transition.
Burt
You have to be so athletic. I mean, think about how great an athlete I think her dad played for the Falcons or was on like, yeah, he played for the Falcons. She's such a good athlete that she played softball her whole life but couldn't make the squad in softball. So she's like, you know what? I'll just take up this bobsledding thing. And two years later, she may be getting a medal in the Olympics.
Caller Fred
And that's phenomenal because I can't wait until we have our high school reunion in a couple of years. And she actually goes, look what I did. What did y' all do?
Co-host Male
She's gonna wear her medal if she gets one in the door.
Burt
I got a couple of emails from people that live in Douglasville and said they had no idea she was competing until we were talking to her the last couple of days.
Caller Fred
Exactly. And pretty much everybody that I know of, that we all went to high school with, we all stay in contact, you know, Facebook, MySpace, stuff like that. And a friend of mine and hers actually text me. She's like, hey, I'm having my birthday party and dah, dah, dah, dah. And I was like, what is this I hear? And that's when I found out that, yeah, yeah, she's actually on it, other than hearing her on the radio. And I'm like, that is crazy because she always, she always talked about doing something big in sport. That's what she always wanted to do. I want to be really, really good at this, this, this and this. And here she is in bobsledding in the Olympics.
Burt
Yeah, she's got it. So we'll see what happens tonight. And she's been real good about calling in. So my bet is if she wins or she meddles tonight, she'll be up all night. So I don't think it's going to be too tough to get her on tomorrow morning. Right?

Listen, it's the vert show.
Co-host Male
I want to ask you guys a question. If you've ever like, claimed to be the winner of some competition or some race, even if you didn't win, I mean, it's blatant that you lost, but somehow you claim victory. And the reason I ask this is because there's a story of the Winter Olympics in which a male figure skater did not win. So he got silver. He did not get gold. Okay? So he's a Russian skater that lost the gold medal by a fraction of a point. Okay? To an American. So the American guy gets the gold. He gets the silver, right? And since then he has been complaining about it ever since.
Burt
I've seen this guy in interviews, like right after the race, after they gave it to the, the American dude, this was the guy saying that, you know, there has to be something done with the point system. Or something, because he. He really feels like he got robbed of the whole thing.
Show Host
Right?
Co-host Male
Complain, complain. Well, of course, the. The metal system is gold, silver and bronze, and it's based on the value of the metal. Right. Because gold is more valuable than silver and silver more valuable than bronze. Well, there is something that's more valuable than gold, and that's platinum. And so he has now on his website, just declared to everybody that he won the platinum medal at the Vandover Games in order to say that he did better than the American guy. And it's all. Yeah, and it's all over his website to where he's claiming, you know what? I didn't win the silver. I won the platinum.
Burt
Half of the Olympics are about sportsmanship, right? Let it go, dude. You lost.
Co-host Male
And I just think it's so funny how somebody. Now I can see. Now I know Jeff's out sick, but I could see Jeff being the kind of guy who, if he lost something and he was mad that he lost, he'd just go ahead and tell everybody he won. You know what I mean? I just. You know what? I actually won that thing.
Burt
You just totally dismiss.
Co-host Male
Yeah, dismiss the results.
Burt
The actual results, and start claiming that you were. That you won the national championship.
Co-host Male
Yeah, that you won the national championship. You won the race in the backyard. You won, like, if you got in a fight in the schoolyard. You know what? I know what you saw may look like they won, but actually I was the one that was the one.
Co-host Female
So tacky.
Caller Leslie
It is.
Co-host Female
I wonder if the American person who won the gold is responding to that yet.
Caller Fred
I wouldn't.
Burt
The only thing I would do is hold my gold up. There you go. Nobody cares about your platinum.
Co-host Male
Exactly.
Burt
There's so many great, like, soap operas, like, if you've been. I am normally not into the Winter Olympics, but I've just been following along for whatever reason the last couple of days, and there's some. There are great soap operas if you watch it long enough. I told you the one earlier this morning about our. Our local girl here, Elana Myers, who is from Douglasville, and she is part of the bobsledding team that is in second place right now. But she wasn't. She wasn't predicted to be anywhere near the top. There's a bobsledder by the name of, like, Rocock or something like that who is the number one driver in the world. And her pusher somehow hurt herself. So Ilana tried out to be her pusher. I mean, who wouldn't want to be with the number One person, you're probably gonna win a gold medal, right? So she has a push off against another contestant, and she beats the contestant. So she should be in the USA number one sled. But this driver didn't dig Alana too much. So she goes to the race officials, and she says, I think you guys forged the. The results. I know you want Alana, but I don't. And I'm not racing unless I get my girl. So they're like, fine, if you're gonna be like that, great. You can have your own pusher. So they give her that pusher. And that number one team now is in, like, sixth or seventh place. And our girl from Douglasville is in second right now.
Co-host Male
So you want her to win now because the other girl was, you know, being a, you know, biatch.
Burt
Yeah, totally. Totally.
Co-host Female
You need her to be, like, a face.
Burt
Hey, Rebecca. Good Morning. You're on Q100.
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
Hey, Bert Show.
Sherwin Williams Announcer
Good morning.
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
I was just letting you know that my. Does that pretty much every year at Nationals. Dance is a lot more political, though. It comes down to tiny things in the deduction. So every year, if we take second or third, we go home and celebrate our victory because of how hard we worked and how far we went.
Burt
See, I'm sorry. I can't agree with that. I can't agree with that.
Co-host Male
No.
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
It's hard. But dance, I mean, everything. Like, if somebody drops something, it's over. You're in last.
Burt
Everybody had the same rules.
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
That's the thing. It's like, you don't know who's gonna do. Who's gonna make that little mistake. So every year we go home and we celebrate how well we did that. We got first place.
Burt
Rebecca, you can't. You can't declare yourself the winner if everybody else says you didn't win.
Co-host Female
Right, Right.
Caller or Guest
I know.
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
It's just a personal thing. I guess it makes us feel better because especially something like the Olympics, you trained for that for life, so it. It hurt.
Co-host Male
Everybody did.
Burt
Including America.
Olympics Commentator
Gold.
Caller Leslie
Yeah.
Co-host Female
Just take your place.
Burt
Hey, Rebecca. Good morning.
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
Good morning, guys. How are y'? All?
Burt
Good. How are you?
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
Good. I wanted to comment in regards to American figure skater. He actually did comment on the Russian.
Caller or Guest
Oh, he did.
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
He was covered by the gentleman who's covering the Olympics. And he was interviewed a couple of nights ago. My husband and I were watching it, and he held himself very well, and he complimented the Russian skater and the whole nine yards.
Co-host Male
So he took the high road.
Burt
That's really what I would say.
Co-host Male
Unless somebody. If you had. I'M sure he had to answer it because it was a direct question, you
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
know, it was a direct question. Yeah.
Co-host Male
He had to say something, so he took the high road.
Burt
That's when you wish there was country. Well, that's when you wish there was some kind of software that would say exactly what you're thinking rather than what the words are coming out of your mouth.
Co-host Female
Video of life.
Burt
Yes. Yeah, totally. You find yourself watching the strangest stuff with the Olympics, too. Like these guys were saying they got all invested in curling.
Caller or Guest
Obsessive.
Olympics Commentator
Yeah.
Caller or Guest
Watching. I know it looks. It looks dumb and cheesy and like you don't have to practice for it as much. And it looks like a big shuffleboard. I cannot take my eyes off of it. And the announcers that are announcing what's going on, the play by play and drawing on it like it's a football play. Like there's strategy into curling.
Co-host Male
I watched it for two and a half hours yesterday.
Burt
Come on. Really?
Co-host Male
And each player is mic'd, so you get to hear their conversations on what they're gonna do. And yeah, I got so invested. And then Katie came home from work and I thought, she's gonna make fun of me. She goes, oh, my God, is it curling? And she sat down and watched it with me.
Burt
I mean, yeah, I am convinced if I started training today, I could be in the top 10 in the country in curling by the time the Olympics rolls around that.
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
Watching it.
Burt
They should ax that sport event.
Sherwin Williams Announcer
No, no.
Burt
Come on.
Caller or Guest
Intense strategy. You have to hit it just right to make the other players little. I don't know what they call them, but they look like pawns. Pawn move off the square. It takes like 1. 1.
Burt
You guys are drinking the Kool Aid. It's shuffleboard on ice.
Caller or Guest
But it. But it's hard.
Co-host Female
But it.
Co-host Male
Yeah, I mean, you just watch it. Just watch it once.
Burt
I wouldn't even wear. I wouldn't even wear my gold medal if I won one in curly.
Caller Terry/Rebecca/Kristen
Look.
Burt
And I wouldn't be wearing under armor.
Co-host Female
What now?
Co-host Male
Let me call it.
Burt
You're not sweating curling under armour.
Co-host Female
Oh, they're all wearing it.
Co-host Male
He's never watched curling. No, but let me say also, I told Wendy, women, I want you to watch this because the Canadian curling team. I'm just being your wing woman. Okay. John Morris. Johnny Morris.
Caller or Guest
Johnny Mo.
Co-host Male
He is hot. And that will keep you because I. I said, well, I'll give credit. Where Credit suit. And this dude must be a model in Canada because he's a hot curler.
Lady Luck
Okay.
Co-host Male
I know that you didn't think I'd ever say that.
Co-host Female
But you gotta watch him. Johnny Morris in your bed.
Co-host Male
Amen, sister.
Burt
Look, honey, who's gonna take Johnny to curling practice tonight? Come on now. Well, for the guy, really.
Caller or Guest
You know what the guys can't get invested? The Dutch team. Those girls wear skirts and knee high. So there you go. They're freezing on the ice. And skirts. So you can watch curling. Come on.
Olympics Commentator
Curling.
Show Host
This is the bird show.
