Jessica
So I am suffering from BSS and that is bathing suit season stress. It is a new disorder that I am coming up with.
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
There has to be a syndrome on the end of that also.
Amber
Yes.
Jessica
Oh, so bss.
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
Yes, because syndrome makes everything seem way worse than it really is.
Unidentified Female Guest
Yeah.
Jessica
So bathing suit season stress syndrome, it's
Unidentified Male Guest
closely related to morph suit season BET boss, isn't it?
Jessica
Yeah, something like that. But I have a big trip to Europe planned with my boyfriend this summer and I really want to look good for it. And it's like when we booked the tickets and booked the trip and everything, I was like all excited and I'm like, oh, that's plenty time. For now I'll be like tight and fit and trim, whatever. And I'll be looking good in the bikini. And then now all of a sudden it's like, ooh, it's the end of May and then it's going to be here before you know it. And so I don't know, I'm just starting to totally stress out about being in a bathing suit and I'm guessing that other women are feeling the same thing. And I'm pretty pale too, so I'm kind of like pasty and feeling like I could drop a few pounds and everything else. And so I'm just in that mode where everything is stressing me out. Like when I'm putting on my pants in the morning I'm like, oh, these are a little snug. And then I'm like, you know, when I'm eating lunch that I really like, it's just like more on my mind than it ever would be throughout the entire winter when you can wear sweaters and jeans.
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
We got a reoccurring theme going on here that women stress out way further in advance than dudes do when it comes to stuff like this.
Amber
We stress out all the time between
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
you and your luggage and being stressed out about packing five days before a trip, or you stressed out or constantly thinking about this trip months before it even happens. Dudes, we wait for everything for the last minute. 24 hours.
Jessica
24 hours as you're packing, you're like, ooh, wish I would have done some more crunches or.
Wendy
Yeah, right, exactly.
Unidentified Male Guest
Turn the heat way up and wrap yourself in Saran Wrap.
Jessica
I teach you that. Really?
Unidentified Female Guest
Yeah, it works.
Jessica
Really?
J USO
It does.
Amber
Not the Saran Wrap thing. Yeah, Saran Wrap works.
Jessica
You gotta do the night Saran Wrap thing.
Unidentified Female Guest
What to do it the night before.
Unidentified Male Guest
This is taking a beautiful turn.
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
Here we go.
Unidentified Female Guest
So what do you, like, if you need to like, just like, like lose a couple of like, water weight pounds, you wrap your whole body in Saran Wrap because then you wake up and sweat and all the water weight.
Unidentified Male Guest
You go to bed wrapped in Saran Wrap.
Jessica
Disgusting.
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
So what you're doing is you're draining your body of the water.
Unidentified Female Guest
Yeah, but you gotta drink like plenty of water before you do it. But yeah, you wrap yourself up.
Jessica
It's the same theory that rest psychotic trick.
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
It's the same thing wrestlers do, like before a meet. If, I mean, they don't wrap themselves up in Saran Wrap, but they'll sweats after. Sweats after. Sweats and trash bag. Trash bag. And you run to get that water weight before weighing.
Unidentified Female Guest
You've never pageant girls, I think, do that too, to, you know, to slim down their legs before they do the bathing suit and pageants.
Jessica
I don't think I'm going to go quite that far. I was trying to figure out if it means that much to me to look that good in a bathing suit. But I don't think that I could go that far. So now the trip is when it's not until July.
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
July. So everything that you're putting in your mouth now, everything that you're trying on now, you're sort of your target is always how you're gonna look in Europe.
Jessica
Yeah. I actually thought about going to buy a bikini like this Weekend and kind of hang it up on the wall so that it's like, oh, I'm always looking at it until the beginning.
Unidentified Male Guest
But you go into Europe, you can just run around naked and don't even have to shave your pants.
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
Hey, Jessica. Good morning. You're on the bird show. Hi.
Wendy
Hi. I love you guys. I listen every morning.
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
Thank you.
Wendy
Sure. I get your stress, girlfriend. I've only lost £12. I'm getting married on Saturday and so I've only lost £12. But it's a start. So just keep working on it. You've got plenty of time.
Jessica
Yours would be WDSs, wedding dress stress syndrome.
Wendy
It's ridiculous for no reason.
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
And you're trying to lose how much weight?
Wendy
No, no, no. It's way too late now. I wanted to lose more, but I've only lost 12.
Unidentified Male Guest
Not according to Wendy. If you actually climb in your oven
Amber
with aluminum foil.
Unidentified Male Guest
Uh huh.
Jessica
Yeah, you could, you could Saran Wrap tonight. Rehearsal dinner's tomorrow, right?
Amber
Wendy, are you. Seriously, you fly out to LA on Sunday. Are you going to Saran Wrap Saturday night?
Unidentified Female Guest
No, I'm not going to Saran Wrap.
Wendy
Yeah.
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
You won't let you through security, man.
Jessica
I'm not going to look at you
Unidentified Male Guest
because I got to tell you, Wendy, you're not going to Sara in la, right?
Jessica
No, I'm not.
Unidentified Male Guest
Because if, because if there's a chance that you're wrapped in Saran Wrap and the hotel catches on fire, I pretend not to know you. I'm not knocking on your door in la.
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
In la, you'll fit right in. Are you kidding me? Everybody's Saran wrapping themselves right before you go to bed. Jessica. I was gonna ask Jessica, like at what point? Cause she's like resolved to the fact. I'm wondering if that happened like last week or 10 days ago when she's just like. I remember the meal where I just said, screw it, I'm not gonna lose all the weight anyway, so I might as well enjoy myself.
Amber
But she said she lost 12 pounds. She's been working on her wedding probably for a year, you know, or at least six months. Yes. I mean she, I mean, anytime you have an event as a woman, because. Yeah, it doesn't just happen. Like if somebody, if somebody is in a certain shape, that didn't just happen. They've been, they planned. If it's a woman, they plan that far in advance.
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
So let me ask you a question then. Like, let's say Joanna, right? She's getting married when?
Jessica
Next May.
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
Next May. Well, she Already like have in the back of her mind now how she wants to look next May and then be as particular about what she eats now for a year from now.
Jessica
Probably especially for a wedding day. Really? That's probably. Yeah, that's definitely for the wedding day.
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
This is such a foreign conversation to me. Hey, Amber. Good morning. You're on the Burt Show.
Wendy
Hey. I was just telling Jess you could call it B quad S. That way it sounds more, you know, professional. So if she's having a bad day.
Jessica
Oh, I like that.
Wendy
Yeah. My B quad. My B quad S is messing up today
Jessica
because of the four S's. The bathing suit stress syndrome syndrome.
Wendy
Sounds better than BSS season.
Jessica
Stress syndrome.
Wendy
Exactly.
Jessica
That sounds like a rapper name. We got a new hit for Pequod.
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
Here is Connie. Good morning, Connie. You're on the Bird Show. Hi.
Wendy
Hi. Good morning. I got back from a transit point cruise that took me from Puerto Rico to Spain.
Amber
Nice.
Wendy
Don't worry about a thing. There was 400 pounders topless and thongs. You have nothing to worry about.
Ad Voice
400 pounders
Wendy
now.
Unidentified Male Guest
Is that.
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
You said that was a cruise, though.
Wendy
It was a cruise that we went to Canary Islands and to Cadiz and Barcelona.
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
Nice.
Jessica
Nice.
Wendy
Cadiz in Barcelona. Tenerife. Topless beaches.
Jessica
I didn't know they had fat people in Europe now.
Unidentified Male Guest
They do.
Wendy
Yeah, there's a few of them.
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
Anytime there's a cruise, there's overweight people.
Unidentified Male Guest
You gotta know that Joanna.
Amber
What?
Unidentified Male Guest
Just made a confession from her phone screening studio that she not only was planning on losing weight for her own wedding, but she lost weight for someone else's wedding.
Jessica
That she was a maid of honor.
Amber
Isn't she?
Unidentified Male Guest
She wasn't even in it. She was just attending it.
Amber
And she lost weight.
Host (possibly Bretzky or co-host)
Really?

Date: August 6, 2026
This episode dives into "Bathing Suit Season Stress Syndrome"—a humorous but all-too-relatable exploration of the anxiety many people, especially women, feel as summer approaches and swimwear season looms. The Bert Show hosts and callers candidly discuss body image, societal pressures, comical coping mechanisms (like the infamous "Saran Wrap trick"), and shared experiences around body confidence, with their signature blend of authenticity and laughter.
| Timestamp | Segment | |-----------|---------------------------------------------------------------------| | 01:03 | Jessica introduces "Bathing Suit Season Stress" | | 02:20 | Gender differences in vacation prep anxieties | | 02:59 | The Saran Wrap for water weight myth explained/denied | | 04:01 | Jessica’s internal debate about body prep for Europe | | 04:21 | Caller Wendy shares her ‘wedding dress stress’ experience | | 06:27 | Playful naming: “B Quad S” (BSSSS) | | 07:07 | Connie’s cruise story busts body shame myths abroad | | 07:50 | Losing weight for others’ life events |
The episode exudes the classic Bert Show mix of humor, empathy, and realism. Hosts and callers alike acknowledge the real (if ridiculous) stress women feel about summer body image, poking fun at extreme dieting tactics while ultimately encouraging self-acceptance and pushing back against harsh societal expectations. Shared stories, light satire, and sincere advice make for a relatable, laugh-out-loud, and emotionally supportive listen—even for those not personally battling BSSS.
In a nutshell:
If you’ve ever looked at summer, a special event, or even your favorite vacation as a trigger for self-doubt or frantic self-improvement, you’ll find yourself in this episode—heard, supported, and maybe, just maybe, laughing at the whole predicament.
