D
Yeah, it's real awkward and it's a
C
different awkward than there's been in the past where she denies you your sexual advances all the time. It's different. This is a different awkwardness. It is.
E
I can't really look her in the eye. I'm trying to. I've gotten to the point. Now I can glance at her.
D
What happened?
E
I had a dream.
C
I had a dream.
E
I had a dream and I'll be honest with you. It was Sunday night leading into Martin Luther King Day. He had dreams. I just had one. We all got dreams.
C
Free at last, free at last.
E
Problem is, his was freedom and equality, and mine's gin.
C
Okay, so it was one of those.
D
I thought he was kind of rude in studio on Tuesday because we're buds, right?
E
Yes, we are. We are.
D
Talk about whatever. And so he came in Tuesday and was, like, chatting it up with everybody else in the studio and, like, ignored me. I'm like, did I do something to take him off? Like, that's weird. And then after the show, I saw him in the hallways and he was like, I gotta tell you something.
C
Did she hurt you real bad, or was the dream so graphic that you were embarrassed that the second one graphic on her side, or are you apologizing for the things that you did?
E
Both. I mean, I was the aggressor, but once I went there, it was like, yeah, come out.
D
Have you ever had those dreams where you wake up and you have to shake it off? Like, was that real or not?
C
No, usually I try to get back into it.
E
No, I woke up.
D
Go back to sleep.
E
I woke up that morning and I left the light on in the hall and I expected to see Jen walking in to say, good morning.
C
It was that vivid.
E
That vivid, Really? I mean, we were an item. We were together. I don't even know how many years we'd been together.
C
So it was more emotional than it was physical. There was a love in your dream?
E
Yes. I was like Nicolas Cage, the Family Man. She was. I mean, it was like that. I was like, my God, this is. It was a whole secondary life. I mean, it must have been a five hour dream. But I woke up and we'd been through things and she had dropped a guy and I dropped a girl, and there had been controversy and we'd been filmed and we were together. She'd gotten a small dog, but I was okay with it because of what she wore around the house. We were together.
C
You lived 30 years pretty much in three minutes.
D
Hilarious.
F
Pretty much.
E
Pretty much.
C
And how did the dream end? Did it end in a breakup or. It ended well. And that's what shook you?
E
It ended, I think, with us just having lunch. I mean, it just. I woke up and we were in the middle of what we're doing. There was no. There was no ending. I mean, it's like we're. We're together. So when I saw her here, I was like, you know, honey, thanks for not, you know, riding into work with me. We could have gone. And I realized, Steve, it's a dream. And then I'm like, but I don't know what to do. So I couldn't look at her.
C
You still can't?
E
I can't. It'll take time.
D
Do you remember when this happened to me years ago. Years and years and years ago. And I had that dream about the artist formerly known as Phil Tirana. And I could not talk to. I was like, so embarrassed because of the things that I had in my dream about him.
C
That's right.
D
And it was so. It was just like so vivid and real and it was like, whoa.
C
I really do think it's a different level, the things that you were doing to Phil Tyranna. I'm sure pretty basic compared to the things that he was doing to you in this stream.
E
Yeah. You've got abilities you don't even know you have.
D
Maybe you need to fill me in
E
and teach me some things. Yeah, I. We'll start class when I can look at you.
D
Okay. Thanks, Steve.
E
Thank you, guys.
C
All right, the Birch Show.

Summary Compiled By: [Podcast Summarizer AI]
This episode of The Bert Show dives into a hilariously awkward and candid discussion among the cast after Southside Steve confesses to having an extremely vivid, romantic (and somewhat risqué) dream about fellow cast member, Jenn Hobby. The group explores how such dreams can affect real-life workplace dynamics, shares their own dream stories, and brings plenty of laughter through their honest banter and chemistry.
Steve [02:16]:
“His was freedom and equality, and mine’s Jen.”
(On the coincidence of dreaming the night before MLK Day)
Steve [03:25]:
“I was like Nicolas Cage, The Family Man. She was. It was like that. My God, this is… it was a whole secondary life.”
(Describing the emotional depth and wild realism of his dream)
Steve [03:07]:
“I woke up that morning and... expected to see Jenn walking in to say ‘Good morning.’ It was that vivid.”
Cassie/Tommy? [04:44]:
“I really do think it’s a different level, the things you were doing to Phil Tirana. I’m sure pretty basic compared to the things that he was doing to you in this dream.”
(Posterizing the discomfort and humor for both Steve and Jenn)
Steve [04:52]:
“Yeah. You’ve got abilities you don’t even know you have.”
(Playful jab about dream skills)
Steve [05:00]:
“We’ll start class when I can look at you.”
(Wrapping up the joke and camaraderie)
If you’ve ever had a dream that just feels too real—especially about someone at work—you’re not alone. The Bert Show’s take on post-dream awkwardness is raw, honest, and full of big laughs. This episode captures the magic of workplace friends sharing the awkwardness together, reminding us that sometimes the only way to get past the weirdness…is to talk (and laugh) it out.
