Bert
Listen, it's the vert show. It's a bummer. I'm so disorganized. I had two post 830 stories to tell you guys to run by you guys this morning and I can't find one of them and also I'll just have to find it for tomorrow. But it has to do with restless genital syndrome or persistent sexual arousal. It's a woman that got into a car accident and for whatever reason or she, she hit her. Her pelvis got sort of mangled in this accident in just the right place to where it struck some kind of nerve and she can't go anywhere or do anything without being aroused or getting the Big old. Oh, I mean, so you're talking about, like, when she puts on pants. If there's anything touching that area.
Jen Hobby
I would like to.
Bert
She's off and running.
Jen Hobby
I would like to. Just for the.
Bert
All day and all night long. She's insatiable.
Jen Hobby
For the benefit of the people who are listening on the radio and can't see, but Jen Hobby is stabbing herself in the pelvis right now, attempting to recreate that she heard.
Bert
Melissa, you read that story yesterday, too, right? Yeah.
Melissa
And we've talked to. Either we've talked to somebody, or we covered a story about this in the past on the show as well, where there was a woman that claimed that she had an orgasm every. I don't know, it was very short spurts in between. And then she. I didn't mean that, but you know what I'm saying? And so the same thing. And so, I mean, obviously it has a name. Restless. What is it?
Bert
Restless Genital Syndrome. That's not my name. That's the given medical term for it.
Melissa
And I remember this woman in the news that had this before said that despite all the jokes, that it was such a burden on her life.
Bert
She says it's terrible. Like it's ruining her marriage because she's insatiable. Like, her husband is trying to keep up, and he absolutely can't. I mean, she can't walk. She can't be in the car. Anytime she feels a bump in the car, goes over a pothole, car's all flat.
Melissa
Dude, you're having an orgasm on the couch. Because I'm a pothole, they call you a wrecker.
Bert
And the second story is, sadly, the Clermont Hotel is shutting down.
Host
Oh, no.
Caller Karen
Did I do that?
Jen Hobby
Your hotel's all dirty in chunks.
Bert
Yeah. The health inspector, believe it or not, went by this place and they found a lot of violations. I know that's really, really hard to believe.
Jen Hobby
The hard to believe part about it is that the health inspector just now went by.
Melissa
The shocking part is people were living there. I thought that hotel was abandoned. I thought the lounge was the only active place.
Bert
Yeah, it's actually the Claremont Motor Hotel that is being abandoned now. And if you're new to Atlanta, the Claremont Lounge is. I mean, it's a tradition in Atlanta.
Melissa
You have to go at least once, because once is pretty much all you can take. No.
Bert
How do you explain exactly? I mean, in a.
Melissa
In a respectful way. Dirtiest, grungiest basement bar. It's a strip club. The Claremont Lounge is a strip club.
Bert
The AJC says it's Baby boomer strip dancers.
Jen Hobby
Hey, that's a. That's a bad description.
Bert
Really, really nice.
Melissa
Yeah, they say it's worsers go to die. That's what the common phrase is. I, you know, tried to avoid that,
Bert
but it was charming. But it was awesome.
Melissa
But I was dirty.
Bert
And it was almost a parody.
Melissa
Or if you order a liquor drink,
Jen Hobby
it comes in one of those teeny, tiny little solo cups.
Melissa
There's no glassware at this bar.
Jen Hobby
Like, it's all.
Melissa
You just have to go and see it.
Bert
It's hard to describe these something year old woman that crushes beyond with her boobs.
Melissa
Blondie.
Bert
Yeah, Blondie's notorious. And now the whole thing's going away. Cause the hotel was just a mess. The Fulton county health inspector uncovered a laundry list of stuff. Dirty linen, old bedding, bed bug stains.
Melissa
I didn't know anybody was living there.
Bert
It was 185 bucks a week, and the place was packed.
Jen Hobby
And all the stuff that Bert is listing was found between Blondie's breasts.
Melissa
Aw. Now, but the lounge is. Because they've said this before. They said that this was being, you know, closing down everything, and it didn't.
Bert
So hold on a sec. Let me see here. The basement Claremont Lounge and its aging troop of strippers is unaffected by the hotel's closing. So maybe that means it is staying open. So the lounge stays open and the hotel goes away. That's good news for you, Jeff.
Jen Hobby
But then, yeah, where do you stay? Because, you know, there's nothing more fun than going to the Clermont Lounge and finding a nice Lassie and taking her up to one of the fancy rooms. Ew. Ew, Ew, Ew.
Caller Mike
The.
Jen Hobby
Yeah, I think they just do it in the bar.
Bert
You don't have to go to a room. Hey, Mike. Good Morning. You're on Q100.
Caller Mike
Hey, how's it going?
Bert
Okay, man, how are you?
Caller Mike
Very good, very good. Guys, love your show.
Bert
Thank you.
Caller Mike
I just wanted to comment on what you were talking about earlier. My mother had a medical reaction to some medication that she was taking at one time. It was for, say, I guess you could say a psychological medication. And it caused her to have multiple big O's, as you call them, like within maybe five minutes of each other.
Bert
So it wouldn't be an all day type thing. When she finally had one and she
Caller Mike
just couldn't stop, right? She had one. She was on the medication. And when she would take that medication, she kept feeling funny, as she called it. And it got to be so bad because she was taking the medication for A couple of days. And after it was finally in her system. It was in her system. So they had. She had to go to the hospital and actually have a. Like a shot to stop the counteract medication to stop her from having them.
Bert
You know, there's going to be a whole bunch of virtual listeners emailing us today asking what that medication was.
Caller Mike
Probably.
Melissa
I can imagine my mother. I don't want to know about my mother's orgasms.
Caller Mike
I didn't either, but, you know, happened.
Jen Hobby
Did she call and like, just out of curiosity, how did you about your mom? How did she tell you that? Like, how did she explain what she
Melissa
driver to the hospital?
Jen Hobby
Oh, yeah.
Caller Mike
I didn't drive her to the hospital, but it was kind of funny. But she called up one day and she was talking to my wife and she was telling my wife and her. Had a pretty good, you know, conversation that day.
Bert
I guess they did.
Caller Mike
It was pretty funny. So that's how I actually found out about it. I was talking to my wife and my wife was telling me.
Bert
Did your mom tell your wife, like, let's just keep this between us.
Caller Mike
I mean, I'm pretty sure she did, but, you know, everything between me and my wife is between me and my wife. So until now.
Jen Hobby
Do you ever, like, when you're at events and stuff, like family function, do you ever kid her about that? Like, you know, like, give her a good Christmas, kid.
Melissa
I'm a pill momma.
Jen Hobby
Oh, don't have an orgasm. I'm just giving you a Christmas present. Here, Mom.
Caller Mike
I've always wanted to slip one in her drink to see if it would.
Bert
Now got creepy. Hey, Karen, good Morning. You're on Q100.
Jen Hobby
Hi, Mom Gasm.
Caller Karen
Good morning. Hilarious. So hilarious.
Bert
How are you?
Caller Karen
I'm fine, thank you. I just called to tell you they talking about the Claremont Lounge Hotel. Yeah, My brother lived there for a time, probably about seven years ago. I would go visit him and I had to go like a double glass door and show my id and they had to announce me to my brother. Very. A lot of weird security. But when you go inside into his room, his apartment, it was so teeny tiny. It reminded me something that you have in New York where you pay thousands of dollars for rent and it's just a teeny tiny room.
Bert
Let me ask you this. Of all the rooms and apartments in Atlanta, why did he choose the Clermont Motor Hotel?
Caller Karen
Oh, well, that was the sad story. He was an alcoholic and he had been through a couple of programs. And then after you finish, he. He had roommates before and had burnt those bridges, so to speak. And so he really had nowhere to go.
Jen Hobby
Do you have a follow up to that bird or are you good?
Caller Karen
No.
Bert
Pardon me, I'm gonna store that one under one question too many.
Caller Karen
But he ended up. It was pathetic, but you know, but I did not realize there was a lounge underneath. And here it was. Here was my brother being an alcoholic and he was trying to get, you know, clear and free of alcoholism. And I'll go visit him and he would be south. I'm like, you haven't been able at this apartment. You'll have a car. Where are you? I did not know till I listened to the bird show years ago.
Melissa
Really?
Caller Karen
I heard you talking about. I'm like all that time now realize where he was.
Jen Hobby
See now what's interesting about that is it's surprising that he ever went in there sober. Like he must have been really battling the demons because most people don't go into the Claremont Lounge until they are
Bert
pretty well sauced or you go on your way quickly. Yes, but I'm with you guys. Like I've been there a couple of different times. I really didn't know anybody actually lived there.
Melissa
I didn't either.
Bert
And I've seen lights on in the place. This is the Birch Show.
Host

This episode of The Bert Show dives into two quirky and deeply personal topics: the rare and little-talked-about medical condition Restless Genital Syndrome (triggered in one woman by a car accident), and the local Atlanta news about the closing of the infamous Clermont Motor Hotel—home to the legendary Claremont Lounge. The hosts use their trademark blend of humor and authenticity, engaging both with listener stories and personal anecdotes.
Story Introduction
Host Bert brings up a unique story: after a car accident, a woman develops “Restless Genital Syndrome” (or Persistent Sexual Arousal), leaving her in a continuous state of arousal triggered by even simple things like putting on pants or riding in a car.
Bert:
"She hit her…her pelvis got sort of mangled in this accident in just the right place to where it struck some kind of nerve and she can't go anywhere or do anything without being aroused or getting the big old O." (01:30)
The hosts discuss both the medical and personal impact, emphasizing how the condition, despite its surface humor, is actually a grave burden.
Melissa:
"I remember this woman in the news that had this before said that despite all the jokes, that it was such a burden on her life." (03:10)
Bert:
"She says it's terrible. Like it's ruining her marriage because she's insatiable. Like, her husband is trying to keep up, and he absolutely can't." (03:18)
The hosts joke about the difficulties—how even riding in a car could trigger the syndrome.
Memorable Moment: Jen Hobby pantomimes the situation:
"Jen Hobby is stabbing herself in the pelvis right now, attempting to recreate what she heard." (02:28)
The team pivots to Atlanta news—the closure of the infamous Clermont Motor Hotel, which housed the equally famous Claremont Lounge.
Melissa:
"The shocking part is people were living there. I thought that hotel was abandoned. I thought the lounge was the only active place." (04:04)
They explain the Claremont Lounge's legacy:
Bert:
"It was 185 bucks a week, and the place was packed." (05:27)
The bar is described for its “charmingly seedy” ambiance, with no glassware—drinks served in tiny solo cups.
Caller Mike shares about his mother’s inadvertent experience with a medication that triggered frequent orgasms.
Caller Mike:
"My mother had a medical reaction to some medication...it caused her to have multiple big O's…like within maybe five minutes of each other." (06:21)
Mike recounts the awkward family fallout and his mom having to get medical counteraction.
Jen Hobby probes:
"How did she tell you that?...Did you drive her to the hospital?" (07:38–07:47)
The hosts joke and riff on the situation, while acknowledging the discomfort.
Caller Karen recounts her brother’s stint living in the Clermont Motor Hotel, giving a personal perspective on its clientele and atmosphere.
Caller Karen:
"He was an alcoholic…he had nowhere to go." (09:35) "It was so teeny tiny. It reminded me of something that you have in New York, where you pay thousands for rent…" (08:53)
She learns only through The Bert Show that her brother lived atop the Claremont Lounge, noting the peculiar irony of an alcoholic’s recovery space being above a bar.
On Restless Genital Syndrome:
Bert (on the syndrome):
"Restless Genital Syndrome. That's not my name. That's the given medical term for it." (03:04)
Jen Hobby (joking about the SNL potential):
"All day and all night long. She's insatiable." (02:24)
Melissa:
"Dude, you're having an orgasm on the couch. Because I'm a pothole, they call you a wrecker." (03:33)
On the Claremont Hotel:
Jen Hobby (on the drinks):
"It comes in one of those teeny, tiny little solo cups. There's no glassware at this bar." (04:55)
Melissa (on Blondie, the iconic dancer):
"Blondie's notorious. And now the whole thing's going away, 'cause the hotel was just a mess." (05:10)
Jen Hobby (joking):
"And all the stuff that Bert is listing was found between Blondie's breasts." (05:30)
The episode is lighthearted, irreverent, and honest. The hosts combine empathy with unscripted hilarity, sharing listener calls with a knack for both candor and comedic timing. Sensitive medical issues are handled with both curiosity and respectful humor.
This Bert Show episode mixes a rare medical tale with local nostalgia and listener engagement, all delivered with the distinctive Bert Show banter. The combination of embarrassing medical conditions, Atlanta dive-bar lore, and callers' life stories makes this a quintessential episode: offbeat, funny, and peppered with real moments of humanity.
