Our trip up the coast was perfection. With my Sapphire preferred card we earned three times the points on gas, online, grocery and dining.
Host 1 (Jeff)
It was amazing.
Chase Sapphire Advertiser
Chase Sapphire preferred the card that's preferred for a reason. Cards issued by JP Morgan Chase bank and a member FDIC subject to credit approval terms apply.
Host 1 (Jeff)
The Birch Show Birch show listener Janine joins us now and she is on her way to Filene's basement for a very important reason. Hygienine.
Janine (Listener)
Hey guys, how's it going?
Host 1 (Jeff)
We're doing great. We're looking through the windows of Feinlean's basement. At 8 o' clock we open the door and everybody charges in and there's Joanna with her beautiful wedding dress. Congratulations Joanna. And literally hundreds of women in there and they're starting to put them back on the racks which I think is why you're coming down here, Jeanine.
Janine (Listener)
Yeah, I'm real happy to hear that because I'm actually on my way to pick up my sister right now. We need a dress for her wedding that we hope is going to be this weekend and we didn't make it down there by 8 o' clock so I just wanted to call and make sure that it still, you know, is even worth coming down there.
Host 2 (Melissa)
Oh my God. It's worth coming down all day long. This wedding day sale lasts throughout today. So like Jeff said, I mean they come in for the running of the brides at 8 and take all the dresses down to choose their favorites. But then they put them back on the rack and there are plenty of dresses left all day long. Just people want to come here to 8 o'. Clock. It's like first come, first serve, you know, for their style.
Host 1 (Jeff)
Now tell us the circumstances around needing to buy a dress on Friday that you're going to use on Saturday, right?
Janine (Listener)
Oh, it's kind of crazy actually. My sister's fiance has been real hesitant to set a date for their wedding and he is actually in Vegas with our father this weekend for work. He works with our family business and so we had the idea that we're just going to pop on, you know, West Vegas with my mom and my sister, who's obviously the bride to be, and surprise them and get it done.
Host 2 (Melissa)
Oh, my God. So they don't. So they don't know. He does not know that he's getting married tomorrow in Vegas.
Janine (Listener)
No, he doesn't. I think he'll be surprised, excited.
Host 1 (Jeff)
So the agenda is to come to Felines today, buy the wedding dress, and then who's going to Vegas? Your sister and who else?
Janine (Listener)
And my mom and myself.
Host 1 (Jeff)
So you, your sister, your mom are getting on a last minute flight to Las Vegas and then she's gonna come home as a missus.
Janine (Listener)
Yes.
Host 2 (Melissa)
Wow.
Host 3
What do you think his reaction's gonna be?
Janine (Listener)
You know, I feel like it's actually probably just gonna be a relief to him that it's over with. He doesn't have to go through the whole wedding planning thing. He doesn't, you know, have to worry about any of that kind of stuff. So I think he'll be. I think he'll be real happy.
Host 1 (Jeff)
I can tell you that I'm looking
Host 2 (Melissa)
at Jeff's body language.
Host 1 (Jeff)
Well, I can tell you that he's going to pretend to be real happy because you said that he works with your dad's business.
Janine (Listener)
Yeah.
Host 1 (Jeff)
So he works with your dad and your dad's already out there and you guys are buying last minute plane tickets and a wedding guy to go out there. He's going, it's going to happen. I just think I would be correct in saying it's gonna happen because he doesn't have a choice. It has to happen. Like, he can't say. You're putting him in a situation where he can't say, I don't want to
Host 2 (Melissa)
do this, but what? A lot of times when couples talk about eloping to Vegas, there's always our concern about the parents not knowing or robbing the parents of the opportunity. But the bride's parents, you know, or at least her mom is on board and going out there with them. So the parents seem to potentially be on board.
Host 3
Where's his mom, though?
Spin Quest Announcer
Yeah.
Host 1 (Jeff)
Does he have a family that would be concerned that he's getting married without them?
Janine (Listener)
He's not really close to his family, so we're not too worried about that.
Host 3
I don't know. I think that's.
Host 2 (Melissa)
Yeah.
Host 3
What is it his wedding too?
Host 2 (Melissa)
You know, are they. He said that he didn't want his family at the wedding. When you've talked about it.
Janine (Listener)
Yeah, I don't think I Mean, obviously, I don't know all the details. My sister's fiance, but she was saying that that's kind of one of the reasons he's been putting off making a wedding date because, you know, his parents are divorced. He's not close to either of them. He kind of doesn't want to deal with all the fuss.
Host 1 (Jeff)
But they are engaged, right? Like, she is wearing a ring.
Janine (Listener)
Oh, yeah. They've been engaged for a while.
Host 1 (Jeff)
And who. And did she buy the ring for herself or did he buy it?
Janine (Listener)
No, no, he bought it.
Host 2 (Melissa)
How long is a while engaged for?
Janine (Listener)
They've been engaged, like, almost a year now.
Host 3
Gotcha. So it's like, it's time to go ahead and get it done.
Host 2 (Melissa)
Well, I don't think ambushing is the right way to go about it.
Janine (Listener)
Maybe have a discussion before you.
Host 3
What if he comes home early and y' all miss each other?
Bluff
Oh, my.
Host 1 (Jeff)
Well, does your dad know that you're coming out there?
Janine (Listener)
Yes.
Host 1 (Jeff)
And does he know that you're coming out there and you're gonna do the marriage thing?
Lady Luck
Yeah.
Host 2 (Melissa)
So the dad knows. It's just the groom doesn't know. Well, I mean, I encourage it because I want to talk to you on Monday.
Spin Quest Announcer
Right.
Host 2 (Melissa)
But. Well, I'm trying to imagine, like, Bird, because Bird has said on the air before, I mean, there's been plenty of times he's had issues with his family and he's a product of divorce. And, you know, I'm trying to find, you know, Burt seemed to be the kind of guy that would be okay with not having family involved in his wedding. So I'm, you know, it could potentially be that Grim would be completely okay with it. Right? Yeah. Am I speaking out of term or it.
Host 1 (Jeff)
It depends. I mean, it could go either way. I wish you luck. I'm glad. And I'm right there with Melissa. I think it's awesome. Thank you so much for.
Host 2 (Melissa)
Absolutely. Come on down here. We're here.
Spin Quest Announcer
Hey, the Bird show.
Janine (Listener)
