Get it the Bird Show Hey Marnie.
Marnie
Hi.
Co-host
Hey, how are you?
Marnie
I'm good, how are you?
Co-host
Marnie has taken a concept that we've been talking about for years now and really run with it that if you're like going if you're a dude and you're going to like Maxim magazine for advice that is is written by guys for guys about women, you're going to the wrong source. And it's the same thing with women. Like if you are asking other women for for advice about guys, the better source is to actually go to a guy.
Marnie
Yeah.
Co-host
And Marnie is sort of doing this. It's the same concept except it's called Win girl Method where she'll help you in your dating life. And in some cases, she can even observe you in, like, a bar or a club and tell you what you're doing right or wrong. Do I have that right?
Marnie
Yeah. Well, it's half right. It's not just in a bar and a club. It's basically anywhere. It's like, even if you write me through an email and tell me about a situation, I'll tell you if it's right or wrong. Because at the end of the day, I'm in inside of a woman's head, so I know what goes on. I know what we're attracted to. And I know, you know, compared to most women who don't know how to articulate how that feels, I'm actually able to express it in a way that men can understand.
Co-host 2
What's the biggest mistake that men make most often?
Marnie
They start putting a woman they just meet way above themselves, way too quickly. So the most confident man, most successful man, intelligent man, will lose his confidence completely as soon as an attractive woman walks into the room and suddenly elevate this woman to a higher level of respect than himself, Meaning that he becomes a blubbering moron when an attractive woman comes around. And it's horrible. It's awful. It's not attractive. And it's not attractive to him either.
Co-host
I'll tell you that I once heard a story of a guy that was in a room with a girl at a bar, Same situation. She comes in there and she's absolutely stunning, right? And all the other guys in the bar are just like, can't figure out what to say to her. And he approaches her and they get into this conversation. And at some point in the conversation, he says that beauty is common and anybody can be beautiful, but it's really about what you're like on the inside. And it immediately brought her down to his level that I'm taking away your greatest asset right here. All these guys right here can't handle your beauty. And I'm telling you, I am unaffected by it.
Co-host 2
And did the hangout.
Co-host
And it worked. And it worked. It broke the ice.
Co-host 2
Wow, that's good.
Co-host
So maybe that's the lesson to be learned there.
Co-host 2
Yeah, that's a good maneuver.
Co-host
These two guys, Wendy here and Jen, have been struggling with the good guy, bad guy issue over the last couple of days.
Co-host 2
We typically date bad guys, but we're sort of seeing good guys sort of
Host
sort of dabbling in dating with good guys.
Co-host 2
Right. Hello?
Marnie
Hello? I'm sorry, I can't really hear you properly.
Co-host
I'm not really sure what to do about that.
Marnie
Oh, sorry about that. Was the question you're asking whether or not you should be dating a bad boy?
Co-host 2
Well, you. From your website. Bert was just playing a little bit of your advice that you were saying that most guys will ask you, how do I become more of a bad guy?
Marnie
Yeah, a lot of guys ask me how I become more of a bad guy. I always tell them, why would you ever want to become more of a bad guy? I don't think that there's any woman who turns to her friends and says, you know what? I can't wait till I grow up and meet him. And.
Host
Oh, sorry, we didn't.
Jeff
Hey, Bert, I have an idea.
Co-host
I just hung up on her.
Jeff
That's a good idea.
Co-host 2
Where was she?
Co-host
I don't know.
Co-host 2
Is she like on a New York subway train or something?
Co-host
I had no idea. She wasn't saying anything unique. She wasn't paying attention and she just cursed on the radio.
Co-host 2
Wow.
Co-host
I just hung up on him.
Co-host 2
That just freaked me out. You know, you gotta try different things on the show. Some are great, some are not so great.
Co-host
Yeah. And some are really, really bad.
Co-host 2
The concept of a wing woman is a great idea.
Co-host
What I wanted to do is that she offers a service to where she'll take a guy under her wing, literally.
Jeff
No, guys, stay away from her. She's as bright as something that's not smart.
Co-host
She's bright as.
Co-host 2
Jeff,
Jeff
what happened to you last night?
Co-host
Did you go out last night?
Jeff
I've got, you know, I mean, you got incomplete sentences. I was, I was up late, I didn't get to bed till midnight. And I've decided that today is going to be two thirds sentence day, which means I'm only going to say. I'm only going to say the first 2/3 of my thought.
Co-host
Well, maybe Marnie had the same.
Marnie
Maybe.
Co-host 2
I'm sorry, what day it was together.
Jeff
Yeah, I don't know what, you guys, I thought she was a great guest. She was coherent, she made sense. I thought it was all smart.

Main Guests: Marnie (dating coach), Bert Show Cast (Bert, Kristin, Abby, Cassie, Tommy, Jeff)
Main Theme:
This episode dives into the dynamics of dating advice from the opposite sex, the pitfalls commonly encountered by men when meeting women, and the "wing woman" method—an approach where a female dating coach gives men actionable insight from a woman's perspective. The show's signature humor and candidness enliven the discussion, with real-life anecdotes and listener questions.
The team interviews Marnie, a well-known dating coach, about her "wing woman" service, which gives men advice directly from a female point-of-view. The conversation covers where men typically go wrong, why seeking advice from the opposite sex is crucial, and the recurring good guy versus bad guy dating dilemma. The cast also peppers in lighthearted banter and reactions.
[01:38] Co-host:
“If you’re a dude and you’re going to like Maxim magazine for advice that is written by guys for guys about women, you’re going to the wrong source… The better source is to actually go to a guy [for advice about men], and to a woman [for advice about women]."
[02:02] Marnie:
“Yeah. Well, it’s half right. It’s not just in a bar and a club. It’s basically anywhere. Even if you write me through an email and tell me about a situation, I’ll tell you if it’s right or wrong. Because at the end of the day, I’m inside of a woman’s head, so I know what goes on… I’m actually able to express it in a way that men can understand.”
Key Insight: Marnie provides both real-life ("in the field") and digital advice, translating women's inarticulate reactions into clear terms that men can apply.
[02:46] Marnie:
“They start putting a woman they just meet way above themselves, way too quickly. The most confident man, most successful man… will lose his confidence completely as soon as an attractive woman walks into the room and suddenly elevate this woman to a higher level of respect than himself… It’s not attractive. And it’s not attractive to him either.”
Key Insight: Devaluing oneself and pedestalizing women is a turn-off, undermining natural confidence.
[03:14] Co-host (Anecdote):
Shares story of a man at a bar who, rather than being awestruck, tells a beautiful woman, “Beauty is common and anybody can be beautiful, but it’s really about what you’re like on the inside.”
“I’m taking away your greatest asset right here… I am unaffected by it.”
Key Insight: Demonstrating comfort and not being overly impressed by superficial beauty instantly made the man stand out.
[04:08] Co-host 2 (to Marnie):
“We typically date bad guys, but we’re sort of seeing good guys… dabbling in dating with good guys.”
[04:39] Marnie:
“A lot of guys ask me how I become more of a bad guy. I always tell them, why would you ever want to become more of a bad guy? I don’t think that there’s any woman who turns to her friends and says, you know what? I can’t wait till I grow up and meet him…”
Key Insight: The appeal of "bad boys" isn’t as universal or desirable as often portrayed; authenticity and confidence matter more.
[04:54] Jeff:
Technical difficulties and accidental hangups inject playful chaos:
[05:08] Co-host 2:
“The concept of a wing woman is a great idea.”
[05:25] Jeff (about Marnie):
“No, guys, stay away from her. She’s as bright as something that’s not smart.” (delivered with obvious sarcasm and banter)
[05:52] Co-host:
“Well, maybe Marnie had the same…”
[05:55] Marnie (jumping in good-naturedly): “Maybe.”
Memorable Moment: The crew’s good-natured ribbing after the dropped call, blending their signature authenticity with humor.
Marnie [02:46]:
“The most confident man… will lose his confidence completely as soon as an attractive woman walks into the room and suddenly elevate this woman to a higher level of respect than himself… It’s horrible. It’s awful. It’s not attractive.”
Co-host anecdote [03:14]:
“Beauty is common and anybody can be beautiful, but it’s really about what you’re like on the inside.”
Marnie [04:39]:
“A lot of guys ask me how I become more of a bad guy. I always tell them, why would you ever want to become more of a bad guy?”
The episode maintains the lively, real, and humorous energy characteristic of The Bert Show. Even in moments of technical snafu or mild disagreement, banter keeps the conversation light and engaging. Marnie brings practical and honest advice, while the hosts add relatability via personal anecdotes and light teasing.
For those who missed this episode:
You’ll walk away with a solid grasp of why opposite-sex dating advice is so powerful, some of the most common (and avoidable) missteps men make, and why self-assurance trumps trying to act like a “bad boy.” The memorable guest interactions and witty cast chemistry keep the advice as entertaining as it is practical.
