Hey, Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily, and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's bible verse. In 1 Samuel 16:7, the Lord says to Samuel, don't judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn't see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. Samuel tells Saul that God wants him to wipe out all of the Amalekites, but Saul disobeys. He wins the battle, but lets the king and a lot of animals live. Saul even sets up a monument praising himself. And he calls Yahweh your God instead of my God or our God when he talks to the people. And on top of all of that, he. He lies a lot. God tells Samuel that David is the new king of Israel. And Samuel anoints David privately, but doesn't announce him as king yet. God the Spirit leaves Saul and comes to David to empower him for the job ahead. The Israelites are at war with the Philistines again, and they have a giant soldier named Goliath. No one wants to fight this guy, but David says he'll do it. With one swing of his slingshot, he kills Goliath. Saul is curious about this guy named David and decides he wants to get to know him. Today's my shot. God is outside of time like we've talked about. But he's inside time too, experiencing things with us as they happen. We see this when the Bible tells us his emotions. He is able angry when his people are abused, and he is sad when his people disobey him. He's not distant or detached, watching it all from far away. He's with us at every moment. He's who we can turn to in our anger, sadness and happiness. He's where the peace is and he's where the joy is. Ra.

Episode Theme: Understanding Obedience and God’s Heart through the Stories of Saul and David
In this episode, Miss Emily guides young listeners through key events in 1 Samuel chapters 15–17. She highlights the consequences of Saul's disobedience, the secret anointing of David as the future king, and the famous story of David and Goliath. The main theme centers on how God looks at the heart—not just outward appearance—and how God is personally involved in our lives and experiences.
Miss Emily uses simple, engaging language to help kids see God’s deeper values—obedience, humility, and genuine relationship matter more to God than appearance or outward success. Through Saul and David’s lives, children are encouraged to trust that God sees their hearts and is always present with them, no matter how they feel.
Miss Emily’s warm, reassuring tone invites children to see God as close, caring, and someone they can turn to in every moment of life.
