Hey, Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily, and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's bible verse, Psalm 23, verses 1 and 2, says, the Lord is my shepherd, I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows. He leads me beside peaceful streams. We read a lot of psalms today with a lot of different themes. In Psalm 1, we see a wicked man and a righteous man. The righteous man delights in God's word, and it's the source of his Life. In Psalm 15, we see that God is holy and shows so much mercy to us when he draws near. Psalm 22 is the Psalm of the cross, and it points forward to Jesus. He spoke the first words of this psalm with his final breaths. My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? Now it's so important to our faith that we understand that God didn't abandon Jesus on the cross. And so to help us understand that, let's review something we learned back on day one. The Trinity, which of course, was a word to remember.
B
The Trinity is one God in three God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit.
A
God and Jesus are two of the three persons of the Trinity. And one person cannot be removed from the others, even for a moment. When Jesus spoke some of the words of this psalm with his final breaths, he wasn't saying that God turned away from him. Rather, he was telling everyone that he was fulfilled filling this psalm. He is the Messiah. And that is another very important word to remember.
B
Messiah means Savior. It's from a Hebrew word meaning chosen or anointed one.
A
Jesus is the Messiah, and God had it planned all along. In Psalms 24, 47 and 68, the ark's return to Jerusalem is celebrated. We see God as king, not just of Israel, but of the whole entire earth. God invites us to be still and quiet. It's not easy, is it? We have plenty of opportunities for distraction. Or all the time quiet may feel boring or even scary sometimes, especially if we forget God. But when we're still and quiet, God gets our full attention. Like Psalm 23 teaches us, he restores our souls. He's where comfort is, he's where peace is, and he's where the joy is. It.
