In Psalm 89, 22, 23, the Lord says about David.

His enemies will not defeat him, nor will the wicked overpower him.

him and destroy those who hate him.

Psalm 89 has layers of prophecy.

Do you remember that word prophecy?

It was a word to remember.

A prophecy is a message. God speaks to people through a person. We call the people who speak the message as prophets.

So in Psalm 89, in those layers of prophecy, we see three firstborns. Israel is the firstborn of a people group. David is the firstborn of the line of Kings God established. And Jesus is the firstborn over all creation. The psalmist may not have fully realized all these layers of meaning when he wrote the song, but God inspired his

words to show what would be revealed over time.

There are songs of praise and thanks in this group, reminding us it is
