Hey, Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily, and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's bible verse. In 2 Samuel 12:8, Nathan tells David a message from God. I gave you your master's house and his wives and the kingdoms of Israel and Judah. And if that had not been enough, I would have given you much, much more. As the king, David should be with his soldiers in battle, which is where they are right now. Instead, he sent them away to danger while he stayed home. And while he's home, avoiding battle, he disobeys God's laws in a way that leads to heartbreak and death. David steals another man's wife, Bathsheba, and acts like she's his own. Then, when Bathsheba is pregnant, David tries to cover up his sin, but it doesn't work. So David has Bathsheba's husband killed in a battle. God sends the prophet Nathan to tell David a story about a great sin. When Nathan points out that the sinner in the story is David, he repents. By law, David has earned the death penalty. But Nathan tells David that God has put away his sin. What great mercy. While there is mercy, there are still consequences. And one of the consequences is that David and Bathsheba's child dies. David is heartbroken, and he worships God. David goes to war with his men, and they win the battle. He and Bathsheba have another child, a son whose name is Solomon. God is abundantly generous. David forgot God's generosity, and in the sin that he committed as a result, lives were lost. Today's story was difficult and sad, but it points us to this reminder. God is a good father who gives abundant gifts. Our job is to thank him for those gifts, focus on his goodness, and always remember that he's where the joy is.
In this episode, Miss Emily guides young listeners through the heavy story of King David’s great sin involving Bathsheba and Uriah. The episode focuses on the consequences of David's actions, God's message of mercy and justice, and the importance of remembering God's goodness.

God’s Goodness:

(Miss Emily, 01:23)
This episode addresses a somber part of King David’s story, showing how even those closest to God can make grave mistakes. But it also demonstrates God’s incredible mercy and willingness to forgive, while not ignoring the reality of consequences. Miss Emily makes this heavy lesson accessible to young listeners, finishing with encouragement to be thankful for God’s gifts and to remember that “he’s where the joy is.”
