2 Samuel 22:36 says, you have given me the shield of your salvation and your gentleness made me great. David is getting older and knows he won't live too much longer. He thinks back on his life and all the ways God has helped him. David knows it's only because of God that he was made strong, protected from his enemies and able to serve as Israel's king. While David reflects, he thinks of himself rightly as someone who is not the most important. That's called being humble, and it's a good word to remember.

David gives God the praise for all he's accomplished as Israel's king. And he knows that no matter what happens, God is there working out his perfect plan today. Baja God's gentleness makes his kids great. David was a mighty warrior, so you might expect him to reflect back on his life and praise God for strength, bravery or courage.
