Hey, Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily, and this is the Bible recap for kids.
B
Today's bible verse.
A
In 1 Chronicles 23:25, David says, the Lord, the God of Israel, has given
C
us peace and he will always live in Jerusalem. As he continues to prepare for Israel's future after his death, David makes his son Solomon king. Many years before, God told David that Solomon would be the one to build his temple in Jerusalem. After the exodus from Egypt, God gave his people lots of instructions for building his temporary movable tent home, the Tabernacle. Now David gives Solomon lots of instructions for building God's permanent home, the Temple. It's kind of hard for us to truly understand how huge of a deal this was for Israel. Today we have the Holy Spirit who lives inside of us. But for the Israelites, they were building God's home, the place where he would live among them. And unlike the Tabernacle, the they didn't have to move it anymore. So David is very detailed in his instructions to Solomon for building this holy place. David divides the priests from the tribe of Levi into groups and assigns them special tasks. He also organizes musicians and gives them three leaders, Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman. Each of these leaders wrote at least one of the songs in the book of of Psalms. God gives rest.
A
Think about how amazing this was for the Israelites.
C
They had endured slavery, the wilderness wars, and more, and God wanted them to build him a permanent home in Jerusalem so he could live among them.
A
God is the giver of rest and
C
the maker of home. He's where the joy is.
