who alone does such wonderful things. Today's reading might seem familiar, and that's because it replays Solomon's dream encounter with God. Just like we read some of David's stories again in 1 Chronicles, we'll read some of Solomon's stories again in 2 Chronicles. God praises Solomon for not asking him for his enemies to die. Did you notice that Psalm 72 says at the beginning that Solomon wrote it, but it says at the end that David wrote it. Some people think Solomon wrote it and told about David's death at the end. But some people think that David wrote it and told us that it was about Solomon at the beginning. We don't know for sure who wrote it, but what we do know is that whoever wrote it was a king and he knew how much prayer a king needs in order to do his job well. The King asks God for help to do what is right, to be fair to people and to help those who need it. The king knows that everything good comes from God and that God does wonderful things.

God is generous. We should never be afraid to go to him and ask him for things because he loves to bless his kids. When we remember that all good things are from him, we remember how needy we are and how generous he is. He's where the joy is.
