Hey Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's Bible verse Proverbs chapter 3, verse
B
5 says trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. Proverbs was written by multiple authors, including Solomon over time. It's called wisdom literature, which means we need to think about it a little differently from other books of the Bible. The proverbs are not history or law or prophecy. The proverbs are general pieces of advice about living in the world, God's way. Much of the advice is helpful, wise and true. But because advice from people is not the same thing as a promise from God, we we need to remember that wise advice won't always produce the hoped for results. There are three main types of people you'll read about in the wise person, the foolish person, and the simple person. The wise person loves and obeys God, the foolish person doesn't listen to or obey God, and the simple person doesn't pay attention and is distracted really easily. When you read a proverb about a person, ask yourself which type of person is this proverb talking about? In chapter one we see that both the simple and the foolish person die, whether they're choosing wickedness or just ignoring the call of wisdom. In chapters two and three we see that God gives us wisdom, knowledge and understanding. These things alone won't bring us peace, but being close to God will.

God wants us to talk to him about everything. He gave us knowledge and understanding. But they're nowhere close to what God knows and understands. He made us and he knows everything. We need his help and he wants to give it to us. He's never too busy and he always cares.
