Hey, Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily, and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's bible verse. In 1 Kings 8:27, Solomon says, But will God really live on earth? Why, even the highest heavens cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built. With the Temple finished, the Levites begin moving the furniture inside. Solomon doesn't want any consequences for not following God's rules about the Temple, so he makes sure the Levites move the Ark of the Covenant on poles. Once they place the Ark inside the most holy place, the cloud of God's presence fills the Temple. Solomon praises God for fulfilling his promise to David, and he asks God to act with justice and mercy for all sins. Solomon prays a blessing for all the people of the earth to know God. And seven years after they began building the Temple is complete. Solomon dedicates the Temple, and God's people offer so many sacrifices that the altar is overflowing. They feast for a week and then return home full of joy, knowing how good God is to them. God lives among his people. King Solomon knows that the temple and even the highest heavens can't contain God. He's in awe that God would come to live among people on earth, and he has no idea what's coming. God will indeed come to live among us on earth, and he's going to heal the blind, feed the hungry, free the captives, and raise the dead. The Israelites left God's house full of joy, but they didn't even know what we know how much more joy is coming. Truly, he's where the joy is.
