Hey, Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's bible verse. In 2 Chronicles 6:39, Solomon prays. Hear their prayers and their petitions from heaven where you live and uphold their cause. Forgive your people who have sinned against you. Solomon asks God, who is in the temple and who is also everywhere, to hear in heaven the cries of his people on earth and forgive them. Solomon gives offerings to God and God sends down fire to consume the food, meaning that he accepts the offerings. The people praise God and celebrate. God tells Solomon in a vision that when the Israelites rebel against him, he'll send discipline through drought, grasshoppers or plagues of disease. If the people repent and turn back to him, then he'll keep his covenant with them. And in today's psalm, the writer can't stop celebrating God's never ending love. He praises God for who he is and what he's done. God comes down to live with us even in the middle of our great sin. Solomon knows that everyone has sinned. And he says this at the dedication of the temple where God comes to dwell. Every single one of us is born into fallen humanity and will sin. So it's even more amazing that God comes down to live with us. He's here, he's not leaving us, and he's where the joy is.
