Hey, Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily, and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's Bible. Verse. In 1 Kings 9:3, the Lord says to Solomon, I have heard your prayer and your petition. I have set this temple apart to be holy. This place you have built, where my name will be honored forever. I will always watch over it, for it is dear to my heart. After the Temple is complete, Solomon stays busy. He oversees the building of his own house, his wife's house, 20 cities and a whole fleet of ships. Solomon keeps the holy calendar of feasts and sacrifices, and he tries to remain faithful to God's laws. God tells Solomon that as long as his laws are kept, his eyes and heart will stay fixed on the Temple. God also tells Solomon what will happen if Israel rebels against him. Now, this passage may be hard to understand and may make it seem like God is unkind. But remember who God is, what he's done, and how much he loves his kids. He's always kind and always loving. And he's already told the Israelites what they need to do to keep their part of the covenant that he's made with them. But he wants more for and from them than just following a list of rules. So he keeps reminding them of how much he's done for them. He rescued them from slavery. He led them through the wilderness. He brought them into the promised land. He came to dwell among them. God doesn't want only their obedience. He. He wants their hearts. Today, Baja God gives us rules because his way is the best way for us to live. He knows that we will sin and fail to follow his rules. But he's forgiving. We never have to wonder if we've sinned too badly for God, because He will forgive us. He's righteous, we just and loving. He's where the joy is.
