A
Hey, Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily, and this is the Bible recap for kids.
B
Today's Bible verse, Proverbs chapter 31, verse
A
30 says, Charm is deceptive and beauty
B
does not last, but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised. A man named agor wrote chapter 30,
A
and he teaches us that God is wise and powerful and that we need
B
to spend time in God's word to know what's true. Agore asks God to keep him honest and to keep him from sin. The big thing to remember about Proverbs
A
is that it talks a lot about wisdom, which is such an important word that we should review it one more time.
B
It is, after all, a word to remember.
C
Word to remember. Wisdom is knowing how to apply knowledge and understanding in everyday life.
B
The book opened with Proverbs dad giving wisdom to his son. And it ends with Proverbs mom giving wisdom to her son. She's telling him what kind of woman he should marry and what kinds of things to value. If you're a girl reading this chapter, does the woman's example seem impossible to live up to? How does she find time to sleep
A
or take a shower with everything else that she does?
B
But the chapter tells us about what she does throughout her life, not in one day. And remember, this is Proverbs. So it's wisdom, not the law. It's not meant for women to compare themselves to, but to look at her heart and her values.
A
She's a hard worker, she's humble and
B
supportive, and most importantly, she trusts God. Today, by God, God is the true hero.
A
When we read Bible passages like Proverbs
B
31 or Bible stories about David or Moses, it's easy to make a person into a hero. But when any of God's kids are
A
strong or wise or praiseworthy, it's because
B
they're depending on God for everything. The people in the Bible, even the great ones, aren't our heroes, but they point us to our hero.
