Psalm 83:3 says, they devise crafty schemes against your people. They conspire against your precious ones. The events in the book of Obadiah likely take place between the time Egypt invaded Jerusalem, which we read about in 2 Chron Chronicles 12, and the time Edom revolted against one of Judah's evil kings, Jehoram, which is in 2 Chronicles 21, Obadiah rebukes or expresses sharp disapproval of the Edomites for not helping God's people. They are Israel's and Judah's closest relatives and neighbors, all descending from Isaac. But when Jerusalem was invaded, Edom didn't help. Obadiah speaks to the Edomites from God, telling them, the day is near when I, the Lord, will judge all godless nations. As you have done to Israel, so it will be done to you. All your evil deeds will fall back on your own heads. God will bring justice both soon and at the end of the earth
