Hey, Bible readers. I'm Ms. Emily, and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's Bible. Verse. In 2 Chronicles 25. Eight, a man of God says to Amaziah, if you let them go with your troops into battle, you will be defeated by the enemy. No matter how well you fight, God will overthrow you, for he has the power to help you or to trip you up. Now that Joash is dead, his son Amaziah is southern Judah's new king. Amaziah kills the people who killed his father, but he doesn't hurt their families. At the time, it was common to punish children for their father's sins, but God told his people not to do that, so Amaziah didn't. Amaziah is a mostly good king, but after a big military victory against Edom, he worships the false gods of the people he defeated. God sends a prophet to tell him his sin is wrong. But Amaziah's pride keeps growing. He picks a fight against northern Israel, and during that battle, Amaziah is killed. His son Uzziah, who is also called Azariah, becomes Judah's king. God holds both victory and loss in his hands. So when he gives victory to one side, he gives loss to another. We see that with Judah and Edom. Sometimes we think God doesn't pick sides, but the Bible shows us that's not true. It's all part of God's plan. He's always victorious, and he's where the joy is.
