Hey, bible readers. I'm Ms. Emily and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's Bible, verse 2 Chronicles 26:5 says as long as the king sought guidance from the Lord, God gave him success. Depending on what version of the Bible you're reading, you might have read today about Judah's king Uzziah or King Azariah. They're the same Gu. We'll call him Uzziah here. He's mostly a good king, and when he follows God, he's successful. But after winning a lot of battles, he gets rich, famous and prideful. Uzziah decides to burn incense in the temple in Jerusalem. Now this might seem like a way to honor God, but only priests are allowed to do this. The priests are shocked when Uzziah tells them why he's there and they try to stop him. They would defile God's holy set apart temple. Defile, That's a word to remember. Word to remember. To defile is to spoil or corrupt. When Uzziah gets angry with the temple priests, God strikes him with leprosy. Because of God's cleanliness rules, someone with leprosy can't be in the temple. So Uzziah has to leave immediately and separate himself from everyone. Then his son Jotham becomes king. Meanwhile, in northern Israel, things aren't great. They move quickly through five kings, each with a short reign, most of whom killed the king before him to gain power today, Baja God is both holy and and merciful. When Uzziah rebels against God and enters the temple, God gives him leprosy. In his holiness, God won't let the king defile his temple. God takes Uzziah off the throne, but he doesn't kill him. In his mercy, God lets Uzziah live. He's holy and he's merciful and he's where the joy is. It's time for our seven day roundup. Did you feel like you were learning a lot this week?
