Hey, Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily, and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's Bible verse Micah, chapter 5, verse 4 says, Then the people will live there undisturbed, for he will be highly honored around the world and he will be the source of peace. Micah writes to both Israel and Judah about their widespread sins, stealing land from the poor and oppressing the needy. Micah teaches that greed might start with just wanting more stuff, but if it's not dealt with, it grows and grows until you're willing to hurt others to get what you want. The leaders of Israel and Judah think they're above the consequences of sin, but Micah tells them they're not. In fact, in 4:10, he gives them a specific prophecy or message from God. Now you must leave the city to live in the open country. You will soon be sent in exile to distant Babylon. You remember the word exile? It was a word to remember. Word to remember. To be in exile is to be sent away from your land, home and people. And spoiler alert, this exact thing happens about 200 years later. Whenever Micah gives a prophecy of warning, he also tells them that destruction isn't the end for them. Some of the people of Israel will be protected, and through their line of descendants, God will establish peace. Micah reminds the people that God is after their hearts, and he tells them to repent. Today, by God, God is the source of peace and security. Micah says that because of God, his people will live peacefully. When God is most honored, we are most at peace. He's where the joy is. The more we learn about the Bible, the more we realize there is still to learn. And that's why we're still creating more resources to help you read, understand, and love God's Word even more than you already do.
