Hey Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's Bible verse. In Genesis 26:24, God says, I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you and will bless you. After having six more kids with his second wife, Abraham dies. He was 175 years old. He leaves everything he has to his second born son Isaac. God speaks to Isaac, reminding Isaac of the promise he had made to Isaac's father Abraham. But right away, Isaac sins by lying about Rebekah. Even though Isaac sins, God doesn't take back his promise. In fact, he blesses Isaac. Isaac gains land and wealth and power. And after many years of waiting, Rebekah gives birth to twin boys. Through a tangled up mess of sin, Jacob, the second born son will inherit what Esau, the firstborn son should inherit. Now that's another word to remember. Word to remember to inherit is to receive something valuable when someone else dies. So far in the Bible we've seen a number of times that the younger son inherits what the older son would typically get. God's plans were usually different from what the culture said was right. And we will see this upside down theme over and over again in the Bible. The Bible calls Jesus our older brother, which means he should get all of God's inheritance. But just like Abel and Isaac and Jacob, we share in the inheritance that belongs to our brother Jesus. God always keeps his promises and his promises are always right on time. God promised Abraham that he would bless their family with a great number of children and that those children would come through Isaac's family line. So Even though Isaac's first baby isn't born until Isaac is 60 years old, God made it happen at the right time. When you pray to ask God for something, he always answers you. God answers with yes, no or wait. And if he's promised it, then his answer is always yes. Whatever his answer is, is best because he's where the joy is. Sa.
