Hey, Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's Bible verse. In Isaiah 41:8,9, God says, as for you Israel, my servant, Jacob, my chosen one, descended from Abraham, my friend, I have chosen you and will not throw you away. Today we read Isaiah's prophecy for the Israelites return from exile, Israel returns to their land and God comforts them. But Israel doesn't trust God like they should. They fall into worshiping idols and false gods of Babylon, just like their ancestors in the wilderness worshiped the gods of Egypt. They're missing the entire point. Yahweh rescued them. Isaiah tells Israel to trust God and what he's doing, he's capable of more than they can possibly imagine. He also tells them to wait with God while they wait on God. Learning to trust him will give them strength. Isaiah also points ahead to Jesus. In chapter 42, God provides a true servant to fulfill his mission and restore Israel to himself. And and in chapter 43, God tells His people not to be afraid. This doesn't mean that things will be easy, but it does mean that he will be with them. God chooses his people to fulfill his purposes. Did you catch what God says in Today's Bible? Verse 41:8? Even after all their sin and rebellion, God calls Israel his servant, Jaco his chosen one, and Abraham his friend. There are no perfect people for God to use. We are all full of sin from the start. But even still, he chooses us, makes us his, writes us into his story, and he forgives our sins. Wow, Bible readers, do you feel it yet? Really and truly, where the joy is.
